Ayyy, that was my post from r/NilouMains at the beginning. Never would have imagined that it would (very partially) inspire such an in depth response! So much good information, you really can feel the frontloaded damage with Collei's 2H2D teams. One other advantage in Collei's favor vs Nahida in quicken is that you can still swirl electro at any point during your rotation with Collei. Nahida's 1.5U dendro application can eat up electro auras and leave your anemo units nothing to swirl. You can get around it by timing this just right (and I believe C6 Fischl can help).... or you can just use Collei for a way smoother experience.
Hope the vid was helpful! And in regards to the quicken auras, personally I don't find it much of an issue, given the Keqing teams I play always group and swirl with kazuha before using Nahida. In these setups it's never an issue although I know it can definitely be a problem for some players
Collei is such a great character. I always had a soft spot for her since I like her design more than most other Sumeru chars. I'm enjoying using her in my Nilou team now!
I do agree with everything you said in this video. Theorcrafting and calculations will always tell you the same old in my opinion. "Sara is bad, don't use her" even though you SEE and FEEL the huge damage buff she gives electro characters. I personally run her a lot more than Fischl and find a better time clearing anything in Abyss. And I'm sure the same applies to Collei even if I don't have Nilou for now. You can see in clips and videos that the moment Collei takes the field the amount of cores on-field accelerates greatly. It's really nice to see fresh, new ideas being uploaded lately rather than the same old "kazuha bennett unga bunga" and "spreadsheets" routine.
When Sumeru released I went with Collei instead of DMC, knowing/thinking I objectively and deliberately made the worse decision in terms of game efficiency. But as I was playing her I did vaguely feel the things you mentioned here, which is probably why I still play Collei despite having built my DMC by now. And this vid spelled out the vague feelings I had in crystal clear fashion. It really made me appreciate her! Thank you so much for the vid!
As someone who just makes abyss run videos using Collei for the fun of it; I still get faster results than most other meta abyss showcase teams. Nice video
Collei is absolutely amazing! I love her as well especially at the C0 (low budget end) and in AOE teams with Nilou. I think a lot of people miss the fact that her Floral Kitty and Nilou's ring is super useful when hugging single target bosses! It is only with C2 Nilou and C6 Yelan that Collei falls off, though most people don't need to worry about that.
It's ungodly how lucky I am to I have C4 Collei without pulling on the Tighnari/Zhongli banner. Hope all Collei enjoyers can snipe her cons off standard/off-banner pulls! (and Collei banner soon Prayge)
I feel like the issue with her boomerang hit box is blown way out of proportion. Yes, it looks like it should have been precise and comparatively makes less sense that other means of dendro applications, but with how dendro works, it barely matters. She wasn’t designed with on field dps build in mind in the first place. The only real issue about her for me is that DMC is a lot cheaper to raise, as most would have their mc raised anyway. Now that I have Nilou, I finally have a reason to spend my resources on my c6 collei.
I really like this perspective! I definitely notice that a lot of the damage I get with Nilou teams happens with Nahida on field attacking, but I see the value in the extra flexibility. I should consider trying this out!
I am glad I invested and got C6 Collei when I could. She uses Elegy instead and she's on my Aggravate team. :) She buffs Kazuha's EM, Keqing's EM, and her C2 is amazing. My Keqing has never been more powerful. Also, I read the manga, and when I saw her playable character and I felt the 1/100th feeling of proud father watching his daughter grow. I refuse to replace Collei, and she's always been a powerful support to my Keqing. Being the main character (practically) of the manga and the fact she was already popular long before being playable is probably why Collei got such awesome constellations. ... I adopted her as my daughter, leveled her to 90 and triple-crowned her within weeks of her appearance. I'm sad she hasn't appeared as promoted 4* character on the character banners. Fortunately, she can still be picked up off Standard, Weapon, and Character banners if you lose the 4* 75/25 to her, which is pretty hard, but according to Paimon.moe (combined with the 2 free Colleis), I have C10 Collei. Which means I've pulled her 8 times--2 of them being in 3.2/3.3. Anyway, I'm glad you made this video. Love for my daughter is well needed.
I agree with everything in this video except for Collei being the new “kujou Sara”. The reason people are using Sara is likely because she’s C6, her C6 is very very broken and could buff both Keqing and Raidens damage so of course people would put her in those teams because she’s C6 whereas Collei is still very good at C0.
nilou teams are absolutely crazy literally slot her in any abyss and it's easy - was able to easily kill geo Wolford with her too in this abyss, nilou bloom is just so good lmao
Very good video. there really is something about hitting enemies around you in an AoE situation. it makes things way better in practice, collei e and xiangling pyronado are prime examples
So, to sum it up: Flexibility and Frontloading. The more dendro teams appear the more I adore the way Mihoyo makes this element. Every dendro characters have their own use and can never be truly replaced by another.
My only problem with Collei is how clunky her skill feels to use. It feels like it has one of the longest start-up windows of any skill, so you can't dodge or swap off her for such a long time, which leaves her very vulnerable. It's also just really awkward to use on uneven terrain, which doesn't matter for abyss, but anywhere else the boomerang barely hits anything. I don't know why they made the vertical hitbox so slim.
i feel like 2d2h is good in the sense that it's easily accessible and you reach the ceiling very quickly and easily as in you just play that team comp(nilou, kokomi, nahida, collei), the advantage in 3h1d is for shields that require hydro and a lot of hydro's have a lot of personnel damage at high invest, for example with Yelan/furina/nilou/nahida, if you have those characters well built and c6 you will be able to create close to 40k blooms(even with yelan and furina on dps sets), sure you will have reduced bloom creation as it's 3h1d and you will need to constantly swap to nahida to keep the blooms coming, but nahida/yelan/furina will do a ton of personnel damage on top and sometimes people forget about this aspect and focus purely on the blooms.

I also use her in my Alhaitham teams. To me, she just is so much better. She has an AOE dendro application, flexible, and applies dendro for my Furina. I do have Nahida, but she is benched. I hate the way she plays, I hate her kit.
Woah didn't know she can give more em than Nahida, I have her at C6 and my Elegy isnt being used. Is it worth building her up if I already have Traveler and Nahida built ?
i have a question. Is Collei also just as good in aggravate? Would she be alright as the solo dendro applicator? id like to make an aggravate team for my Lisa, and my Nahida is being used in my hyperbloom team.
not as good in aggravate than bloom cause aggravate usually uses 1 dendro character which is usually nahida, whereas bloom usually has 2. but she will be alright for you, you can try her out!
I have a question, Who's the best slot in team Nilou Nahida Kokomi(driver) DMC or Collie? Because I have DMC at lvl70/80 but Collie lvl1, Can i build Collie to swap DMC for more power?
"... Nahida needs another character to apply dendro, so she can herself re-apply dendro with her own skill." Can someone explain that to me. I think Nahida is self-sufficent, since once a dendro reaction takes place, her mark deals dendro damage, therefor reapplying the dendro aura, Or em I missing something?
yes but not in that team, because bloom teams take a lot of recoil damage you would need to replace either yelan or collei with a healer like barbara or yaoyao
Bloom is so hella easy to kill everything its almost revolting, my nilou, kokomi, collei and kirara who are all unbuilt can shred enemy hp quicker than my fully built teams, of course not all types of enemies are easy to kill considering strengths and weaknesses but still most enemies are easy to kill than my built team, but i still cant finish abyss 12 perfectly with my bloom team again, because of enemy types
Like you said, tabibito is free, has free obtainable constellations and is already ready to fight so I don't see any reason to lvl up collei + future dendro 4 stars are coming.

Insightful video jamie, this is convincing me to build Collei over DMC.
Though is it fine if my Collei is just C1?
yep c1 loses sustain vs c2 but still good
I should’ve seen this sooner
I also use her in my Alhaitham teams. To me, she just is so much better. She has an AOE dendro application, flexible, and applies dendro for my Furina. I do have Nahida, but she is benched. I hate the way she plays, I hate her kit.
Woah didn't know she can give more em than Nahida, I have her at C6 and my Elegy isnt being used. Is it worth building her up if I already have Traveler and Nahida built ?
I’m using a klee burgeon team with kirara and kokomi so would collei or dmc be better? Both are c5
Btw if someone can recommend a better team comp that would be nice since I’m considering using sucrose to swirl hydro
i have a question.
@@jamiekb9v thank you! :)
I have a question, Who's the best slot in team Nilou Nahida Kokomi(driver) DMC or Collie? Because I have DMC at lvl70/80 but Collie lvl1, Can i build Collie to swap DMC for more power?
collei is stronger. but your choice if you want to build her
Can Collei C0 still be viable in Nilou Bloom team?
Bruh, I did my first high crit with Nilou, it was 15k
"... Nahida needs another character to apply dendro, so she can herself re-apply dendro with her own skill."
Can someone explain that to me. I think Nahida is self-sufficent, since once a dendro reaction takes place, her mark deals dendro damage, therefor reapplying the dendro aura, Or em I missing something?
her damage over time skill needs a reaction for it to activate. it cant activate itself
Most streamers and yt content creator have no idea from a therycrafting perspective, but these ppl are usually worshiped, so it doesnt matter xD
What up, king. Do you know if collei's c6 procs an additional spread proc or no?
Yes it should
Do you think Collei be viable if I dont have a Kokomi? (Nilou - Nahida - Yelan - Collei)
yes but not in that team, because bloom teams take a lot of recoil damage you would need to replace either yelan or collei with a healer like barbara or yaoyao
Kind of hard to take this seriously when most of it is "dont trust the math guys, just trust me bro"
Like you said, tabibito is free, has free obtainable constellations and is already ready to fight so I don't see any reason to lvl up collei + future dendro 4 stars are coming.
I have her C6 and level 20🤫
