THIS EBAY SELLER WAS TAKING THE P### , HE SAID WELL YOU GOT IT CHEAP FOR A START...? AND THEN SAID I WILL ORDER THE MISSING PARTS FROM GERMANY AS HE WAS A MARKLIN DEALER. BUT THE LOCO HAD A DRIVE FAULT SO IT WAS GOING BACK ANYWAY.
I GOT A FULL FRFUND IN THE END.
Prototype: 2 different Swiss Federal Railways (SBB/CFF/FFS) class Ce 6/8 II "Crocodile" freight locomotives. Class from the first production series. A dark brown version as it originally looked around 1922, with open buffers, walk-over plates at the ends, small steps for brakemen, without a wrong track operation light, and without an inductive magnet. Locomotive road number 14268. A pine green version as it looked in the Fifties, with solid buffers, without walk-over plates at the ends, small steps for brakemen, with a wrong track operation light, and with an inductive magnet. Locomotive road number 14272.
Model: Both locomotives have DCC digital decoders and extensive sound functions. 2 controlled, high-efficiency propulsion systems with flywheels per locomotive, 1 motor for each powered truck in each locomotive. 3 axles and jackshaft powered in each powered truck. Traction tires. The locomotive frames are articulated to enable the locomotives to negotiate sharp curves. The triple headlights and 1 white marker light (Swiss headlight / marker light code) change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. When the locomotive is running "light" the lighting can be changed to 1 red marker light. The lighting is maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs. The locomotives have high-detailed metal construction with many separately applied details. The locomotive body comes in 3 parts with hoods that swing out separately. The roof equipment is detailed with safety grills beneath the pantographs. Both locomotives come in individually marked packaging, with an additional master package. Length over the buffers for each locomotive 22.3 cm / 8-3/4".
One-time series.
"Crocodiles". The Swiss mountain locomotives that pulled heavy freight trains over the Gotthard grades are known as "Crocodiles". The design (hoods mounted for articulation, stretched out shape) and the color green gave them their name. These units "snaked" like a reptile through the curves when negotiating turnout combinations and S curves. "Six-axle standard gauge locomotive, only for large curves, faithful reproduction of the 'Crocodile Locomotive' …" was the description in the Märklin catalog of 1933/34 for the reproduction of the latest locomotive from Switzerland. The design and the pulling power of the original locomotive impressed people so much at that time, that it became a synonym for progress and power. A legend that was part of Märklin's history from that point on. This legendary locomotive was offered in all of Märklin's scales. First in 1 Gauge and 0 Gauge, then in H0, and even in Mini-Club Z Gauge. It was the top product offered everywhere and thus became the unofficial "heraldic animal" of Märklin.
This Crocodile double set can be found in an AC version in the Märklin H0 assortment under item number 37565.

Good Luck. Why is it always the Crocs? I have 3 but 2 that I purchased on Ebay were crap. All the ones I have now are good...

Your are right Jim, you either love them or hate them! I have the 22584 model and it doesn't have anything on the front and back "bonnets" but I love it.
Bears Trains yeah it's like the gg1...so ugly lol...it's a great loco to look at when moving. ..
It should have covers where the holes are and will have spigots to fit into the holes

What a shame and rather strange that those parts are missing..?? With a warped axle and the missing parts I think you’re making the right decision by returning this otherwise Very fine loco!
I bought the latest Trix brown "crocodile" earlier in the year and am very pleased with the model, is articulated and full sound, admittedly dearer about £80 [But new}. I also have the smaller version a "Setat" from Trix and with sound and again in brown and about £100 cheaper, but then the pound was good value against the euro.
The Crocodiles still run as a preserved Loco in the summer on the Swiss line from Brig to Zermatt
Hi Jim,. Pity about the missing parts and poor running, have you found another since you made this video? I find it amazing what some people on ebay try and get away with. On another note, I have just purchased a TXC1 Turntable Decoder, but will still keep looking for a TT-DEC. Tony, from Sig-na Trak, formally CML, is as helpful as Chris from A & H Models. Will connect it all together next week…Simon
Liverton -Simon cool...That's great you should be up and running soon...there is another mod for the fleischmann tt I forgot to mention that is to hard wire a standard esu loco chip to the tt bridge and then the bridge can be controlled via the ecos throttle etc ..I was going to do this but opted for the dedicated tt decoder.

Oh Jim, that's a real shame mate because that looked like a beautiful loco when you took it out the box, I would have been mega pissed off if that were me, not only because of the missing parts but when you find something which is not a common model and then it's not as advertised then that's a double whammy. Hope you manage to find another to replace it sometime because that would look cracking on your layout. ............Graham

yeah I would of settled for the missing parts to arrive from the seller but it had a warped axel too so it went back..
I would say 95% of sellers on ebay are fantastic in most cases in the model railway world.
Yes, the warped axle would have been a quite a job to fix compared to just clipping on the body parts so you did right in sending it back. If I buy from eBay I normally (but not always) then I normally buy from companies rather than private sellers and I have to admit that I haven't had a problem so far - touch wood but as you say, you do have a good compensation scheme within eBay if anything does go wrong. .............Graham
I don't blame ya I would kick up a stink also.. damn false sellers.. I have come across a few of them but thankfully not very many and usually they gave me a partial refund for the cost of buying the missing parts... I'm just wondering was there any info in the actual ad on ebay stating there was things missing or the shaft issue? Have you got another one since?

I may get a roco version next but with the marklin trix version is seems to be more collectable.
Have you seen the renfe spanish rail crocodile its got a 4 10 4 configuration
That sucks. I had one seller that didn't resolve an issue. The rest I had no issues or if there was one, it was resolved without any problems or they went above.

amazing..over £200 and missing parts!! ..only time its happened to me was a little lima shunter from Rails described as a good runner, and it didn't run at all..they swapped it for a coach no bother...but descriptions are important, and as new should be as new !!... cheers dave

most of the seller's on ebay are fine it's just some of them try it on to shift items that are not working 100% etc..
I've had dogey used items in the past but ive serviced them and kept the items as they were rare to find.
Ebay has many safety nets even when you are buying items from other countries etc.

I like this modell very muts and have 3 types. I have the green/grey; braun/black and also the black version.
last one is a very special model from Marklin with sound and 2 engines.
theese loco's runs so smootthly
hopeto see them soon running on your layout as well

You have some fine models ...
I will probably get this one again at some time In the future ...this model had two motors I think like the mehano gg1.

hi Jim, thanks everything here is oke. A litle busy with my work.
the layout and the trains are a bit quiet but will come soon starting again.
If thoose loco's come so expence by you in UK then this guy is very stopid to how he things did so bad with this loco.
Perhaps you can find a nice loco here in Holland on "markplaats" There are not so expence as by you.
But some models as this one ( like my black version ) are hard to get due to a few they have build for the market. But the crocodile is a populair model and are build by the factory's almost every year.
So i think a nice crocodile while run are your layout soon haha
Yeah i'm so happy with my models. I have also the German crocodile version.
i like that periode of the loco's very muts.

I know your pain, EBAY, you really have to watch what you are getting, I won a dcc loco with sound, and when I got it, it was just dc, the seller did the same thing to me, you goy it cheap, and you opened it, so no refunds, and I should stop crying about it or he was going to report ME to EBAY. I did do videos of it,, was a kato conrail unit I WON
