Dovetailed Chisel Box

    I wanted to build a box to hold my chisels so I can just carry the box instead of the 4 individual chisels. It just makes life a little easier and plus it prevents my chisels from rolling off of my workbench.
    The box is made out of spalted maple and mahogany and features dovetailed joinery. For the finish, I sprayed a few coats of shellac.

    Sweet box. The chisels should enjoy their new crib.

    a nice box for some nice chisels.....and marking knife;) man that spalting sure did pop when you put the shellac on it looks great with the mahogany. and that's a good tip with using those colored stickers I'll have to remember that

      Thanks Joe! Yeah I got the spalted maple boards pretty cheap and love using it. Yeah the stickers really help me not screw up the orientation but sometimes I still manage to do so lol.

    Beautiful project! May I suggest getting a Stanley No.80 or 81 for finishing those corners? It will change your life. It brings joinery to a new level as it blends the seems perfectly.

      Thanks Bruce! I had an audio issue with this whole freaking video which is why the tool volumes are way down. My camera for some reason had the audio gain up pretty high and blew the audio out.

      That's so disappointing when you think everything was working. I'll say, you recovered nicely. It turned out good.

      There are several components to diy table saws. One place I found that successfully combines these is the Wilfs Wood Blueprint (check it out on google) without a doubt the most useful plan that I've heard of. look at all the extraordinary information .

    Sweet project and Sean this came out beautiful. What was the reason for hide glue and a/c glue mix?? If you already answered this don't need to I'll find it in your comments. Thank you for sharing

    • @Simplecove
      @Simplecove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words! I used the CA glue to give me sort of an instant bond to hold the divider in place so I didn't have to wait for the hide glue to tack up before moving on and installing the next divider.

    Very nice build, I’m making my chisel box out of cedar. One thing though is the music needs to go it’s terrible

    • @Simplecove
      @Simplecove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, can't edit the video to remove the music. I would recommend watching a few more of my videos, I don't use music that often. And I explained why I used music in this video in the description.
