This plot of hers was the begining of the end of her and her sons. She had gotten in trouble before, but trying to injure/assassinate the emperor went to far. Still she could never admit that she was her own worst enemy and continued to blame others for her ultimate failure/punishment.
Is it really any surprise that the Emperor because so suspicious and borderline paranoid? Most of his children were murdered, the women in his life were constantly plotting against the woman he cherished, and people were either shooting at him or trying to drug him. They all wanted something from him and they would do anything to get it. Ruyi really loved him, and those her were loyal to her were loyal to him because they were good hearted people who loved Ruyi. He had so much trauma in his life while being Emperor of the Great Qing. In many ways Ruyi and Hongli were a lot a like. Deep down she really just wanted to be a good loving wife, mother and friend. He really just wanted to be a good, fair, and just Emperor. It was all the evil they were constantly dealing with and enduring that wore them down.
This is kinda funny but at 1:10 Noble Consort Jia actually says “Fuck Off”. She says “Gûn Kāi” which translate to “Fuck Off”. Instead of Move it how they put in the captions.
I wonder if Ruyi knew what would eventually happen to Ling Yunche, if she would have tried so hard to have him come back to the place. Ling Yunche never had a chance once he became friends with Ruyi. The emperor couldn't stand the idea that Ruyi would respect and have a friendship with any man other than himself.
