Saw it for the first time while tripping on mushrooms, thought it was THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE. Saw it straight 2 days later and couldn't finish watching.
Which considering he didn’t take drugs is a fucking achievement! Mind you, I don’t think he actually needed to, he was as naturally weird as we can only dream of. 😄
KLF movie? Primer? Koyaanisqatsi? Kizumonogatari? There have been many great movies that may or may not come to the attention of the public. There's 4 for you and anyone reading this to consider.
@@thegreenbastard5171 I heard of 200 Motels many years ago, before I was a Zappa fan. It is long overdue for any person viewing this trailer to watch it... and do some research into LSD.
@@5Cats Funnily enough I'd never heard of Zappa when I first saw it! I have a spare copy on DVD if you want it or know someone who'd like a copy.
Frank Zappa, a musical genius who combined a tireless work ethic with a distaste for craftsmanship who left a large body of underachievement. Strange only if you think he took this planet seriously
am a diehard zappa fan and i struggled to make it through this. still, there were enough redeeming factors to make it watchable overall. but i might be grading it on a curve cuz i worship frank. 5/10
Well, the original was shot with TV cameras on videotape in PAL standard at 720 x 576 pixels. The transfer to film was essentially a poor quality kinescope recording, so you're not actually missing much. If only they'd preserved the videotape master.
So I just finished watching this movie with my dad I think the moral is the story is never hand Frank Zappa camera. Even blind man was better than this one as bad as that one was 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😁
It is unwatchable. Tried watching it last night, had to turn it off after the first half hour. For those of you who are curious, there is no story here.
Don't ever watch this crap. 15 min of fast forwarding and cringe. No wonder they got rid of leaded gasoline. OMG was this bad and unfunny. Used to like Zappa . After this abomination, I I have a different take on him. This utterly sucked...and was embarrassing to watch, even though I fast forwarded through 80% of it🤮
Sophomoric junk. Zappa liked to think he was some great avant garde composer/artist. This film shows he was a juvenile-minded purveyor of garbage that a 14 year old would hold in contempt.
I like how Ringo is acting like Frank is behind him holding him at gunpoint.
Probably was
Keith Moon also appeared in the movie as a nun.

This movie had 4 famous rock drummers in it … Jimmy Carl Black, Ansley Dunbar, Ringo Starr, and Keith Moon
Zappa didn't do drugs and that's absolutely terrifying in consideration of this trailer.
Well, I have my weirdest ideas when I'm not drunk :)
Zappa didn’t do drugs? Are you sure? Not even pot?
@@gmar7836 As far as I know he never took other drugs (or "drugs") than caffeine, nicotine, and prescribed medication.
@@robertmangl6954 ok thanks for explaining. It’s too bad he did not live longer since he was relatively healthy

the bigest joke is the fact that Frank really got people to finance this insane movie^^
To release it anyway. Given his litigation with the LSO, I think this was self funded.
Surely, this must be the greatest movie ever.

i greatly disagree, i don’t understand how this was made without heavy drugs
It isn’t!!! Trust me. It’s unwatchable
You might be wrong.
Used to watch this movie at an all night theatre in the early 70's, brilliant.
I don't think we were ready for this when it first came out. Watch on mushrooms...
You can get stoned just from watching this trailer.
Wow! I haven't seen it, even though I've been a dovoted Zappa fan since back in -78 but I guess it's about time now 😊
Have you watched it yet?

Classic for the ages.
F.Z. was great, is and gonna be in my memory. All the best for F.Z. Admirers
I said to the man,
"I want to know what taking acid is like without having actually dosed."
But I had been alone the entire time.
Frank liked messing with people...big-time
Not the best thing to watch when you have a hangover
It’s not the best thing to watch ever. I could not get past the first half hour and I really want to watch it.

Try hippie flipping alone with this movie and a curling iron to keep you sane.
It is a hangover

"And for some reason I found the trippy trailer for Frank Zappa's 200 Motels frightening."

I vote that my friend Ringo be the starr of this movie.
Anything, any time, anywhere, for no reason at all
And this is from the studio that gave us "Mighty Orbots" and the Ninja Turtles cartoon?
Here, take your 1000th like.
Another trailer giving the whole movie away and showing all the spoilers.
I actually saw this piece of work in Kitchener the year it came out...I still don't know who, if anyone, was meant to be in on the joke

Janet (the blonde) is a friend of Zappa, Lucy (the brunette) was a groupie, member of the GTO band and a singer on various Zappa albums.

it’s definitely not an easy watch. baby snakes, in comparison is just excruciatingly overlong (165 minutes!) but is plenty engaging.
It's pretty bad even for avant-garde stuff. Zappa is overrated.
Monty Python does America?
Bit like watching rowan and Martin. .it ain't aged well at all
Oh I get Zappa. He doesn't care about harmonies or melodies...just random stuff. Not my thing. Too much contempt for the "expected outcome."
