  • A little more testing and use of the TS2 has helped me get a working routine for the auto focus and Z axis. I am really enjoying this option...

    Thank you for all the time you put into your video productions. You have helped me greatly to understand how to get so much more out of my laser engraving. Along with your good advice saving me from many pitfalls. Please keep you videos coming. I think that you may have a PBS show about this subject one day. You would be a very good match for you. Thank you for sharing your all of versatility with your audience.

    Hi, For the problem you describe at 14:00, I think there must be an instruction in your gcode that tells it to set this position as the origin. All you'd have to do is rectify this by making or modifying your focus macro. In short, there must be an obvious solution, it's just a question of finding it. I'm waiting to receive the machine for review, and I'm going to stick to it.

    • @TheClackShack

      It is likely a programming issue but the typical end user is not gonna want to have to take those lengths to get it functional. Still a good machine once you learn to work around it.

    I've made autofocus on my machine (custom) via $HZ. so simple and doesn't mess framing

  • @juanm9967
    @juanm9967 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Issue comes from the command $HZ that homes the Z axis. It also turns to 0 X and Y axis for some reason, wherever your laser is. You can check this in LB by clicking on Get Position button on the Move window. If you do so, you will see that after homing Z axis, X and Y are also 0. I guess this is something related to the programming of homing single axis in grbl, config.h file (lines 120 to 124). By the way, the same happens with the other combinations: if you single home X axis ($HX), Y and Z will be zeroed, and also if you home Y ($HY), X and Z will be reset as well. @TwoTrees3Dofficial you should take a look at this and fix the firmware

    Just love your videos, and will confess to some degree of envy whilst watching your overhead drone footage of your personal 'workshop' compound...good on ya pard' : - ) I've been planning on adding both a laser engraver and a small cnc to my already established 3D print 'farm' and clicked on the Two Trees website just two days ago and was going to order (at a great price) the TS2 20W that moment, but got distracted and never got back to the computer. Opened up the website just yesterday to follow thru with my order and the price had gone up...kinda wire-brushed my buying mood so got distracted yet again...opened up the Two Trees website once again just a few minutes ago and guess what?...price went up yet AGAIN...in two days. Now I'm chapped! Looks like a good laser though....thanks again for your in-depth reviews and sharing of information. Will be checking in again to your channel.

    Wow! That cleared up one question I ran into on my TS2-10w. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong when it would go to upper right corner. My other question and wondered if you ever experienced this: My Z axis properly functioned initially, but something "failed" and now I can't raise the Z from Lightburn. If I manually raise it, Lightburn will lower it to focus. I can't determine if it's a software or hardware issue? I've only had the machine a couple of weeks. Any insight?

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't experienced that issue. If it will still go down, makes me think it is software related unless on leg of the stepper isn't connected good.

    Hi Mr Clack Shack,
    First of all, thanks for all your videos. They've been very helpful with understanding lasers and Lighburn.
    I own an Ikier K1 Ultra (36w diode) that has autofocus. Using the autofocus can be a bit tricky as if I hit the home button, it also resets the Z axis.
    Would you know if there's a setting to stop this from happening?
    Also, is it bad for the stepper motors to move the gantry manually?
    Thanks 👍😊

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Atezr L2 which is identical in the way that it operates to the ikier. I could be mistaken, but I think the home function only causes the axis to raise before moving. It doesn't seem to affect the focus when I send a cut. Unless the software side is different. Steve @vintaurisworkshop has one of those. He might be able to tell you more.
      Just move the gantry slow. Too fast and the motors can back feed electricity. Catch our Sunday night live and we can answer more questions.

      @@TheClackShack Just gave it a test and results weren't good:
      1. Setup a test engrave square
      2. Framed it
      3. Auto focused
      4. Clicked Home
      5. Clicked Start
      The laser head stayed high up.
      Looks like the only solution (at the moment) is to move it using the controls in Lightburn, or to move it manually.

      @@TheClackShack Also tried that, but it seems to treat the spot the laser head is as 0,0 so it goes off to the upper right away from the area I'm trying to cut.

    @TheClackShack I am new to your channel (and to laser engraving) and was looking at this TS2 20w and their TTS20 Pro, watched your review of the TTS20 and it was great but I know you were concerned with the build and plastic legs. I am a beginner and I have come down to looking at both of these machines as my first buy. Seeing the TTS20 comes with the honeycomb, backplate and air assist is really appealing to me. The TS2 however looks like a very solid build quality and love the auto focus but curious about if they ever did do a firmware update to fix this homing/framing/focus issue? I have noticed you only posted this 2 months ago but there seems to be a handful of youtubers that if you have an issue, the manufacturers seem to listen. Thanks

    Hello friend, I changed my laser head from Ts2 10W to the TS2 20W, I engrave on ceramic with the Norton method and it comes out gray not black. I tried different speed and power settings, can you please advise which are the correct settings to get good image results for the TS2 20W? In the previous laser head, the 10W I used to use speed 1200 and power 80 and it came out in black and was fine details. Should I be using different settings for the 20W laser head now?
