I think that the hidden healing potions are also connected with the dark brotherhood or a sort of murder's escaping plan, you know, it seems to me somehow like a path, with the healing potions being an indication of the best spots to hide or to escape from Solitude without being noticed, with the boat's one being the last maybe, a boat ready for the run after the murder was done.

Shaun Fraser I thought they may have been left there for the Dragonborn/Listener by the dunmer in the dark brotherhood during the quest "Bound Until Death". You can talk to her before completing the quest and she'll tell you that she left a bow and arrow for you to asassinate the bride.maybe she left the health potions too.
I've watched this video a few times now and I've noticed that right towards the end of the video between12:25 and 13:00 the screen flashes twice very quickly and it looks like an image of the all seeing eye from the back of the $1 bill
But that doens't make any sense, at least not to me. I've played the dark brotherhood atleast a dozen times, never have I found myself on the roof of the bards college, or behind erikur's house. Granted, I usually just end up running for the front gate since there are so many people I end up spotted almost every time, but still, I don't think the bottles form some sort of sneaking route, since they are kind of laid up in a circle rather then a path
Am i the only one that believes in a future TES game (or at least in the lore) Solitude will be destroyed? I mean look where it's built! It's the capital city of Skyrim, just like Winterhold was, and is built on a very dodgy looking natural arch. In a few hundred years there's nothing stopping natural erosion from destroying that arch and sinking half of the city in to the sea below... just like Winterhold.
Nightshade is not really directly related to the DB. It is related to death and cementeries, you often find nightshade growing on tombs in the wild, often on top or near nordic ruins that pre-date the DB or at least it's presence on Skyrim. It's more than DB and Nightshade are both related to death and so go hand in hand but they are not directly linked ot each other. So in North Island maybe it's just that some small boat "crashed" (can't remember the proper verb in english :p ) there and people died and were buried by the survivor and he then died last and he's the one whose spine you saw. I'm not saying the DB couldn't be involved just that's it's not the only possiblility :)
I love how Camel still works on Skyrim episodes, even though it's not as popular as it used to be. Although, I do still love Skyrim, thanks for the entertainment Camel :D

I think the potions in Solitude are to do with the Dark Brotherhood quest where you have to assassinate the Emperor's cousin; depending on how you handle that you can end up having to run out of the city whilst being chased by pretty much everyone in the city. Maybe the potions have been hidden by other members of the Brotherhood so you can grab them in your flight.

The desecrated corpse is the same as the ones found in the nearby shrine of Meridia. My guess is that the necromancer holed up there came from Solitude and first experimented in the shadows and back alleys there.
l have two theories for the healing pots: The first has already been addressed by a lot of people in the comments talking about the Dark Brotherhood questline, while the second one has to do with the first time you enter Solitude. It's said that when Ulfric killed Torigg, the gatekeeper left the gate open for him to escape suggesting that there are at least a few Stormcloak sympathizers within Solitude, which has left me to believe that maybe all the healing potions are placed there as a setup for either a march on Solitude, or a Stormcloak assassination of Elisif.

Maybe the Desecrated Corpse is one of the guards Ulfric Shouted at when escaping Solitude after murd- i mean beating the High King in fair combat. His immense Voice smashed the poor guy's chest plate in and the dude flew over the rooftops and landed on the poor skeever who died a moment later due to internal bleeding or brain hemorrhage, leaving a family of five little baby-skeevers and a wife-skeever.
The island with the bones and the nightshade is easy: someone performed the black sacrament there, out of the way of everything, then left everything there. The bones are all that's left of the effigy they made, and the nightshade bush grew from the seeds nightshade he brought.
i love the untold stories of the environment, what i love even more is someone who made a series out of it to share with us! :D fallout has plenty of the same. in NV i found a small chapel/church and behind the podium, on a small shelf there was a speech skill book titled "Lying Congressional Style" made me laugh :)

In the Skyrim guide book on pg 435, it states why pincushion Peter is there It reads 'A Mage faced off against warriors on this steep snowbank and wasn't trusted to remain dead; the victors buried their weapons into the corpse and left it to the Wolves' There is also staff resting up against the tree. There's a little trivia about pincushion Peter.

Theory time: what if the healing potions are left there by the thalmor to be used by agents who need them, kinda like the railroad in f4 leaves those caches of stuff in hidden places, this would explain the elven arrows. Maybe that was a spot where a thalmor soldier was supposed to assassinate someone.
What it drastically lacks in any kind of story or satisfying campaign of any sort, it makes up for with hundreds of hours of sidequesting, exploration and of course, curious curiosities.
The potions really made me think of Firiniell's (I probably butchered that) Bow, the one on the ledge that you can get during/after the wedding assassination quest...also, something to mention, when you escape the jail through the secret passage you end up on some ledge...I can't recall if there's a potion there or not. Either way, the potions are quite curious indeed.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't meridia's temple the only place in Skyrim where we find desacrated copses ? And that temple is very close to solitude. Did you also notice there is a manhole just next to the skeever and the corpse ? In the potema quest there is a link between the temple of the divines and the nordic ruin where she is burried that brings us out quite a way from Solitude. Maybe there was supposed to be one similar link between meridia's temple and Solitude explaining how the necromancers invaded her temple in the first place or giving us a way to enter the temple even thought it has been sealed. Maybe that corpse was the clue we were supposed to have followed to begin the quest or to find that secret entrance but then they changed their minds and we got the actual quest with the beacon instead ? After all int the locations that were created but never used there is a sewer under solitude. It was created but never made it into the game so that may be why they changed their plans for the meridia quest.
The potions were probably from a quest similar to the one in the college of Winterhold when you have to find the rings. Maybe there was a potion easter egg hunt or potion theif that was fatally wounded with something that caved in th chestplate and he died on his way to one of the hidden potions. Would explain what the Imperial was doing there and the skeever just came up from the sewer to eat his remains.
The one about all of the health potions is about the dark brotherhood quest, Bound Until Death. There is a place where you get a unique bow, Firineils End (sorry if I spelled that wrong). I believe it is a gift from Gabriella
I’ve found that deathbell tend to grow in the deteriorating remains of once-living creatures. So, the remains of the human would support this, and the effects of time, wind, and wandering animals can account for the lack of much more than a spine and leg. Fishing pole near a well: fishing poles are used to ‘fish’ for more than just water creatures. Poles with string and hooks can be used to fish items dropped into wells.
I went behind that apothecary plenty of times before while roof jumping for fun and I do not remember ever seeing that dead soldier and the dead skeever.
About the well. If you use the console command "tfc" you can do down that well and there is a ring at the bottom of it. It's a refference to an old fairy tale.
if you look around solitude you can find health potions in the dead ends and between alchemy shop and winking skeever and a random arrow/potion in the rocks near the other entrance to the yard where the soldiers are training
Overlord_Kualsi the corpse and dead skeever are not present in the ps3 and xbox 360 vanilla versions of skyrim, so maybe they were added on an update or through dlc

I think that the potion mystery is an assassination. The Potions were placed for the killer to heal if needed. Remember the story of the 500 companions that Jiskramor brought with him to kill all the elfs in Skyrim.Well there was the elven arrows at the roof with the potions.Somebody of the companions told the elfs that they are going to be attacked at the Haafingar in all of those special places. The potions between the rock and between the clipped wood were placed for the assassins on the ground and the potions on the roofs and other high places were placed for the archer assassins. The potions at the docks are placed or for the escape of the elfs or for the fight when some of the companions come there. Eight potions represent the eight grate assassins that were attempting to kill the companions. (Sorry for bad english and for bad names of characters, if I discover something more THIS comment will be updated)
I've noticed that Nightshade seems to grow in places where there are a greta number of dead as well as places where the dark brotherhood lie in wait. You see a lot of nightshade in graveyards, and I have found nightshade outside of nordic tombs where necromancers are holed up. I recently did the favor for Vekel the Man at Yngvild, and the Solitude quest at Wolf Skull cave- just two examples of places where you can find necromancers and nightshade. Makes me wonder if Nightshade grows best in places where the dead are in abundance- really creepy!
Considering where one exits Potema’s tomb, the Nordic Ruins Northwest of Solitude could have been buried under mountain debris by the Wolf Queen herself.
I'm pretty sure that the healing potions are for dark brotherhood, if you get the bow "Firendils End" on a ledge, I Think that those locations are sniping spots, and that the potion on the dog is for the emperor killing on his boat.
I think that the potion of healings have something to do with archers, but more importantly thalmor archers. If you think about it the thalmor embassy has a footing in the region and an agent in the blue palace so i am assuming that these archers were sent to the designated spots to take out certain threats to them. And since it is solitude i would assume the nobles
the elven arrows make me think the health potions are some sort of thalmor plan to attack the city. The potions are there so they don't have to pack as much. Something along those lines.
Isn't that well with a fishing pole the same well where you can find a golden ring only with console commands? Some poor person drop his/hers wedding ring and tried to fish it back?
I imagine someone may have already pointed this out, but remember the wedding of Vittoria Vici? The one in which you were supposed to assassinate her. Well, during it, she and her groom stand on a ridge with some benches laid out below it, near the Temple of the Divines. Well, on both sides of the door to that temple, there are ridges similar to the one on which she stood. You can get in top of the one on your right hand side when coming out of the temple, and on there you can find an arrow just lying around, similar to what you find on top of the Bards' collage. Considering that you're supposed to assassinate her right there, I always imagined the arrows had been left there for that purpose. But now that I know of those arrows on the roof of the bards' collage I am reminded of one of the dynamic quests you can get from the Night Mother, in which you are supposed to kill a travelling dignitary who simply spends her time walking up and down the street on which the Bards' collage is located. So I am now absolutely convinced that those arrows are there to be used to assassinate her.
Now if you turn of your computer, turn around and open your closet you will find ANOTHER potion of healing

Maybe the Desecrated Corpse is one of the guards Ulfric Shouted at when escaping Solitude after murd- i mean beating the High King in fair combat. His immense Voice smashed the poor guy's chest plate in and the dude flew over the rooftops and landed on the poor skeever who died a moment later due to internal bleeding or brain hemorrhage, leaving a family of five little baby-skeevers and a wife-skeever.
Ate there going to be more of these? I really enjoy these.
A note on all the healing potions in Solitude, they all respawn. Every single one.
The island with the bones and the nightshade is easy: someone performed the black sacrament there, out of the way of everything, then left everything there. The bones are all that's left of the effigy they made, and the nightshade bush grew from the seeds nightshade he brought.

the healing potions were probably put them in there when the boss came around to make sure people were doing their work in the game production.
i love the untold stories of the environment, what i love even more is someone who made a series out of it to share with us! :D fallout has plenty of the same. in NV i found a small chapel/church and behind the podium, on a small shelf there was a speech skill book titled "Lying Congressional Style" made me laugh :)

In the Skyrim guide book on pg 435, it states why pincushion Peter is there
It reads 'A Mage faced off against warriors on this steep snowbank and wasn't trusted to remain dead; the victors buried their weapons into the corpse and left it to the Wolves'
There is also staff resting up against the tree.

Theory time: what if the healing potions are left there by the thalmor to be used by agents who need them, kinda like the railroad in f4 leaves those caches of stuff in hidden places, this would explain the elven arrows. Maybe that was a spot where a thalmor soldier was supposed to assassinate someone.
This is why i love skyrim. So many questions, so many things to do, and lots and lots of time.
What it drastically lacks in any kind of story or satisfying campaign of any sort, it makes up for with hundreds of hours of sidequesting, exploration and of course, curious curiosities.

The potions really made me think of Firiniell's (I probably butchered that) Bow, the one on the ledge that you can get during/after the wedding assassination quest...also, something to mention, when you escape the jail through the secret passage you end up on some ledge...I can't recall if there's a potion there or not. Either way, the potions are quite curious indeed.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't meridia's temple the only place in Skyrim where we find desacrated copses ? And that temple is very close to solitude.
Did you also notice there is a manhole just next to the skeever and the corpse ?
In the potema quest there is a link between the temple of the divines and the nordic ruin where she is burried that brings us out quite a way from Solitude.
Maybe there was supposed to be one similar link between meridia's temple and Solitude explaining how the necromancers invaded her temple in the first place or giving us a way to enter the temple even thought it has been sealed.
Maybe that corpse was the clue we were supposed to have followed to begin the quest or to find that secret entrance but then they changed their minds and we got the actual quest with the beacon instead ?
After all int the locations that were created but never used there is a sewer under solitude. It was created but never made it into the game so that may be why they changed their plans for the meridia quest.
The potions were probably from a quest similar to the one in the college of Winterhold when you have to find the rings. Maybe there was a potion easter egg hunt or potion theif that was fatally wounded with something that caved in th chestplate and he died on his way to one of the hidden potions. Would explain what the Imperial was doing there and the skeever just came up from the sewer to eat his remains.

The one about all of the health potions is about the dark brotherhood quest, Bound Until Death. There is a place where you get a unique bow, Firineils End (sorry if I spelled that wrong). I believe it is a gift from Gabriella
I’ve found that deathbell tend to grow in the deteriorating remains of once-living creatures. So, the remains of the human would support this, and the effects of time, wind, and wandering animals can account for the lack of much more than a spine and leg.
Fishing pole near a well: fishing poles are used to ‘fish’ for more than just water creatures. Poles with string and hooks can be used to fish items dropped into wells.
I went behind that apothecary plenty of times before while roof jumping for fun and I do not remember ever seeing that dead soldier and the dead skeever.
About the well. If you use the console command "tfc" you can do down that well and there is a ring at the bottom of it. It's a refference to an old fairy tale.
if you look around solitude you can find health potions in the dead ends and between alchemy shop and winking skeever and a random arrow/potion in the rocks near the other entrance to the yard where the soldiers are training

Only problem is that Skyrim was released nearly a year before Dishonored.
Overlord_Kualsi the corpse and dead skeever are not present in the ps3 and xbox 360 vanilla versions of skyrim, so maybe they were added on an update or through dlc

I think that the potion mystery is an assassination.
The Potions were placed for the killer to heal if needed.
Remember the story of the 500 companions that Jiskramor brought with him to kill all the elfs in Skyrim.Well there was the elven arrows at the roof with the potions.Somebody of the companions told the elfs that they are going to be attacked at the Haafingar in all of those special places. The potions between the rock and between the clipped wood were placed for the assassins on the ground and the potions on the roofs and other high places were placed for the archer assassins.
The potions at the docks are placed or for the escape of the elfs or for the fight when some of the companions come there.
Eight potions represent the eight grate assassins that were attempting to kill the companions.

I've noticed that Nightshade seems to grow in places where there are a greta number of dead as well as places where the dark brotherhood lie in wait. You see a lot of nightshade in graveyards, and I have found nightshade outside of nordic tombs where necromancers are holed up. I recently did the favor for Vekel the Man at Yngvild, and the Solitude quest at Wolf Skull cave- just two examples of places where you can find necromancers and nightshade. Makes me wonder if Nightshade grows best in places where the dead are in abundance- really creepy!

You didn't mention the rickety wooden door on the side of Solitude's plateau, which when entered leads into one of Solitude's towers.

Considering where one exits Potema’s tomb, the Nordic Ruins Northwest of Solitude could have been buried under mountain debris by the Wolf Queen herself.

I'm pretty sure that the healing potions are for dark brotherhood, if you get the bow "Firendils End" on a ledge, I Think that those locations are sniping spots, and that the potion on the dog is for the emperor killing on his boat.
I think that the potion of healings have something to do with archers, but more importantly thalmor archers. If you think about it the thalmor embassy has a footing in the region and an agent in the blue palace so i am assuming that these archers were sent to the designated spots to take out certain threats to them. And since it is solitude i would assume the nobles

Isn't that well with a fishing pole the same well where you can find a golden ring only with console commands? Some poor person drop his/hers wedding ring and tried to fish it back?
I imagine someone may have already pointed this out, but remember the wedding of Vittoria Vici? The one in which you were supposed to assassinate her.
Well, during it, she and her groom stand on a ridge with some benches laid out below it, near the Temple of the Divines. Well, on both sides of the door to that temple, there are ridges similar to the one on which she stood. You can get in top of the one on your right hand side when coming out of the temple, and on there you can find an arrow just lying around, similar to what you find on top of the Bards' collage.
Considering that you're supposed to assassinate her right there, I always imagined the arrows had been left there for that purpose. But now that I know of those arrows on the roof of the bards' collage I am reminded of one of the dynamic quests you can get from the Night Mother, in which you are supposed to kill a travelling dignitary who simply spends her time walking up and down the street on which the Bards' collage is located. So I am now absolutely convinced that those arrows are there to be used to assassinate her.
