The big reason is culture .....bollywood movies lacks culture .....and by culture I don't mean traditions or anything...... What I mean is the way human to human interaction happens ....for eg- if you watch 2 or 3 good malayalam movies ....you will get an idea about how people interact in Kerala ....what is the social dynamic there ... How people live there .....etc

when we ignore our own makers because you dont get who much hardwork went into it. now a days , rrr hype is so real . i live in usa. everywhere even in newyork time to israel newpaper to korea they got article and was trending and people watching it. oscar is not only meant for art movies to be clear to you. oscar needs moves of all kinds to be nominated. we watch titanic , avatar to any jackie chan movies because it is always exist people emotion and makes happier.
i dont get why indians in india dont have mindset. they think in one way. getting and nominating a oscar will boost small makers in india .
even many critize rajamouli. but he was one of reasons . now adays a movies of high budget were layout . we need makers like him. people didnt nominated when eega was made. he was houshold name in japan before rrr.
variety to many publishers already posted jr ntr and some nomination for rrr in category. so oscar is not just one category . it is win for us if we sent.

Western critics, audience and even some film makers are not seeing RRR as a crude movie. Most of them are genuinely surprised with the creativity in its action set pieces because they bought into its maximalist style of film making. Sending some obscure movie (whatever the language is), that nobody cares about in the west would land you nothing. RRR already caused lot of noise among Hollywood film circles and it the best shot to get a nomination atleast. And people complaining about RRR being unrealistic well....there are so many other Hollywood films that are even more unrealistic than RRR, that got nominated and some of them even won. Also some scenes shown in the movie aren't completely unrealistic like Bheem tossing a motorcycle. Motorcycles at that time weighed only 50 kgs so that soldiers can easily carry them while crossing rivers. And considering how strong Bheem is, it makes sense. RRR is miles ahead of any movie depicting British Colonialism.

Most western critics and audience accepted its maximalist storytelling style and are not using it as a criticism against the movie, primarily because the maximalism is consistent throughout the movie. Many Indians however seem to miss that point entirely. Personally, I feel RRR is presented as a folklore about two folk heroes from Telugu states which is why the over the top action sequences worked.

I personally like RRR movie but its not worth for oscars....if they give oscars to RRR then its like disrespecting the ART movies which were released till now in all languages

Oscars are not about art anymore. It's about box office, popularity and lobbying. And even if a film is not a box office success it can campaign hard and get nominated. So yeah Oscars are not what they used to be 10 years ago. We have sent so many art films to the Oscars with 0 luck. Just send RRR and see how it changes. 💥💥
