- Welcome back to the LPC loon cam for the 2024 season! 💕 This amazing cam with its man made floating nest is streamed from the New Hampshire's lakes region. This unique channel offers a window into the life of a loon pair, capturing the raw beauty and unpredictable drama of nature throughout their breeding cycle. While nature's pace may seem slow at times, the unfolding story can quickly become gripping. There are two LPC loon cams - LPC loon cam 1 and LPC loon cam 2 and both nests have one egg so far!
The female goes into labor with the male present the entire time! She laid her first egg at 10:56:15 EST today and at 07:02 in the video. Later in the afternoon, Dad is on the egg and he gets up to take a break and returns to roll the egg giving us our first glimpse of it. Both parents will take turns incubating the egg - normally two eggs will be laid, sometimes three. The estimated hatch dates will be between July 14th-17th.
In the 2023 season for Loon cam 1, territorial disputes led to the nest being left unused, a first in many years. This season, a pair has been visiting the area regularly. The female is a new member of the pair and has no record of nesting. The male has been using this nest for years and can be identified by its unique band colors-white over orange and silver over blue. The female is not banded. LPC loon cam 2 did have a successful season for 2023.

@@Winston-je7isGood Evening Dear friend Winston ❤, Just to quickly explain about Sweetheart Tiny, This falcon nest is located in Amsterdam OLV Toren nest , Tiny was a Miracle Hatch , Hatched a while after the other 3 precious eggs , Tiny was always struggling to get enough food to survive, Its siblings were more than double in size and although there was no Sibling rivalry ❤, But somehow each day this Tiny baby chick survived with its amazing Bravery ❤, managing bites of food and snuggling up to its sisters each day was a miracle, They banded the chicks except for Tiny it was too small 😢, After much Endeavours and rescues where he fell off the nest , couldn't fly properly , The last rescue was from the canal, He was alive but was placed straight back to the nest, on a platform outside , By which time Tiny was weak and Hadn't eaten in days and Very sadly passed! This lil one had the will to live and each day accomplished success, Its been so Heartbreaking 💔 yesterday wasn't a good day 💔.. This lil one and its will to survived was so strong ❤, I won't say much more..... we have opinions if this if that!!! This was fascinating to watch - though I experienced sympathy pains for her. She handled it with the grace only a loon could.
I watch many types of Bird nests and this yr even more as my "old Faithful " Nests have had problems in producing Eggs or chicks. Loons are a welcome change in nest cycle activity and a goodly # chat people are involved in state and local efforts to build and maintain the floating nests for the many water bodies these loons nest. One thing --the Parents are devoted to the Nest life and deeply value the lives of their offspring they raise. always a pleasure to talk with others about this fascinating bird type with such a strange call and at end of season, watch the parents float down the lakes or stream bodies with their offspring to a Sanctuary body of water where they gain strength for migrations to other Climes.
