Absolutely. As a life long CT resident and a longtime beau brummels fan I was thrilled to see this. Heartfelt thanks to you for this. Must have been great doing this even with the technical limitations
@@WilliamReinheimer Thank you for your kind comments. It was great but sometimes you don't realize how great things were until reflecting back after the passage of significant time.
Been years since I heard this song - I remembered almost all the words and timing - I'm now 75 and can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday! Thanks for the memories.
Someone just commented yesterday "My sister went to sixth grade with the bass player's sister. He got them tickets to the last Beatles concert in Candlestick Park." also I just posted "I Lost That Melody" an unrecorded song.
Without a doubt, my biggest regret in over50 years of going to concerts was choosing to see the Stones in '75 and NOT the Beau Brummels at the Main Point. The rumor was this might be the Stones last tour and since the Brummels had just reformed.... I ended up walking out on the Stones and the Beau Brummels broke up again!
Last Tour Rumor.? Stones have never floated last tour talk. Re: Beau Brummell saw them at the Whiskey a go go in the mid sixties and they were terrific.
thanks for uploading this! I had no clue they had reformed in the 70"s....Between his work with The Beau Brummels and Stoneground, I always thought that Sal Valentino was a criminally underrated artist.
Thank you for your comments. I am working to post two -five more cuts from this session, two of which may have never been recorded. Please consider a tip at ko-fi.com/afewgoodideas
The Beau Brummels were the 1st American Rock Group to transition to the British beat sound. Other groups found this quite challenging but no problem for the Beau Brummels. They found a way to not only fight back musically but stay in the forefront of American Rockers. This is their 1st hit song and it’s as though they were fighting fire 🧯 with fire 🔥 against the British Groups . Laugh Laugh 😆 😅😊is a great 👍 song and back in the late ⏰ 70’s I had this song 🎵 on a greatest hits Lp. The Beau Brummels were an American group that defined the 60’s. Fellas, if you all are still performing out there…Keep Rocking!!!
I saw this version of The Beau Brummells in a small club in Cleveland in 1975. I even have a rather crudely recorded tape of them from a cassette recorder I snuck in. They were absolutely wonderful. Besides many tracks from the reunion album on Warner Brothers, they played at least two other newer compositions that didn't make the LP, "Melody" and "It's Been a Lousy Day." By the way, as pointed out below, Declan Mulligan played bass on this tour. He was originally the BB's rhythm guitarist, but switched to bass when original bassist Ron Meagher dropped out of the reunion project.
I just posted one of the two unrecorded songs from this set called " I Lost That Melody" by Ron Elliott which is most likely what you saw and heard in Cleveland!
I wish you had been there as well! I am working to post two -five more cuts from this session of ten, two of which may have never been recorded. I try not to think of how many years ago!
This song has always had such a cool vibe to it. I always thought the harmonica on the original recording gave it a special “I told you so” touch. I’ve always loved this song. I didn’t know they were an American group until recently. Wish I could have seen them live at some point in my life. Thank you for this video. ❤🙏

Tremendous memories of being old enough to know this group when they first came out with their music. The clip used on the original Meet thr Flintstones with the Beau Brummelstones is also a classic. Good relaxing music- thank you. Also to the posting of seeing BB in Clevelamd in 1975, would this have been in an area known as the Flats at a place called Jimmy's perhaps? Just curious.
Thank you for your kind comments. I have 5 Beau Brummel videos from this session posted to date and hope to have another soon. Cleveland commenter would have to answer your question.
@@afewgoodideas Indeed. By today’s woke standards it would be considered misogynistic. Same with “Run for Your Life.” Yoko shamed into disavowing that song.
I was nervous about hearing a 1975 version of this on a no-budget night. I was delighted. I'm also a fan of Levitt & McClure and I'm wondering if this band was playing the song "Paradise", co-written by Elliot and recorded by L&M.
It's a pity they didn't get more of a push from their record company. Every kid of a certain age knew Laugh, Laugh from the Flintstones if only we would've known they were a real band as opposed to the Beau Brummelstones, I think they would have done much better as those kids came of age?.
Thank you for your comment! New Haven was always the intersection of I-91 to I-95 in our drives from Boston to NYC and back in the 1970's or the train stop on the overnight ! It was only in a recent year my wife and I stopped for Pizza! If you haven't already take a look at the other BB videos I posted from this session.
Things were so different then. The music biz had no corporate backers. Music was regional, San Francisco had their bands, LA had its bands. The musicians were realizing that the weekly race with other bands was an artificial bunch of hype. The Beau Brummels were in the “fancy pants” category with the Left Banke because of their clothes. The Kinks were getting out of that category after Dave’s sword fight in a bar. “Laugh, Laugh” was a strong song, somewhat sounding like it had been written by Gene Clarke of the Byrds… I am just now listening to their later songs, catching up…. It sounds like they are trying to confirm to something different than their original vision….
People have forgot the great importance and influence doowop and its reliance on group vocals had on early rock bands. It is what is missing today. Replaced by tired synthesizer sounds.
Deserves more views. A great band.
