It is a cool looking knife. Im probably going to give in and get one soon despite the price. If you like this style of knife I recently purchased a Cold Steel WASP fixed blade. Its a very thick piece of 52100 steel forged into a very nasty shank. Very nice. Very very nice. It was only $70 bucks.
Typical Mark 3 Trench Knife Blade configuration. Same as the M-7, the Ontario Knives M3 Trench Knife, also same as the Boker M3, etc. So the blade is really old school. That price point is a little steep. Nice knife of course but I have a binnie full of such Trench Knives.
Hi Chris, I have a fairly large collection of about 50 folders and 30 fixed blades (I'm really into big bowies), I just started using a couple of them, Would you recommend me a sharpener of some kind as a beginner? I'll practice on an Ontario rat 1 for now.
Hey Chris! I know your older videos had a lot of LT Wright knives, so because of your experience with them, did you notice any marring on the spine when using it to strike a ferro rod? Their HRC says 57-59, but my BRKT that advertises HRC 60 had marring from 2 strike attempts with a ferro rod. Thanks for your time bud!

agreed. i don’t understand why just because it says (benchmade) on the knife. means it’s worth a couple hundred more dollars than a comparable blade of the same steel or comparable steel. with a different name on it. it’s a label. a brand. that’s it. microtech is the worst. lol. got $100.00 dollars worth of knife. but because it says microtech combat troodon on it. it goes for almost $600.00. lol

I like how the sheath system isn’t obnoxiously big. Real estate on webbing gear is always an issue, so that’s certainly helpful. These caught my eye when they were first announced, but I was hesitant, wanting to see if they can hold up to abuse. Looking forward to some testing!
Bayonet blade (M4 for example) that can be had for 1/10 the price with a much(!) better handle. A simple steel is good enough for this type of weapon. Benchmade again trying to find suckers (and hey, they're out there).
Isn't BM 3v trash though? Did they ever fix their Rockwell hardness problem? When they first started using it I know it was like 56hrc so I've ignored any BM 3v for years now, did that change at some point? Because $360 then you gotta strip it, grind off the edges, send it to heat treat & then redo the bevels & put it back together doesn't exactly sound like a winning proposition to me lol.

Based by time tested M3 trench knife (also then M7,Polish knife wz 98 Gerlach..etc..)..very good utility blade👍👍👍

I'm just gonna say it... I'd never pay Benchmade prices. Nothing they make is better quality than TOPS, WorkTuff, or HalfBreed. It's kinda insulting.
So instead you'll pay almost Benchmade prices for 1095.

Some people make purchases based on the wow factor. I'm not sure why anyone would want to abuse a 300.00 plus blade.
