check out the early editions from 82, george looks like a rock star hanging out the sunroof of a sports car. Its sad that this book didnt do what he wanted it to. to me this is one of the best, along with fevre dream. Id love to direct either of those into an HBO series.

So rains of castamere was written by George? It makes it even more authentic.

Loved Armegeddon Rag. I always thought the movie Eddie and the Cruisers was patterned after the NAZGUL!

I always thought of Nazgul of stand ins for Led Zeplin or Skynyrd.

Im in desperate need of a dark fantasy book set in a victorian era with bloodborne-esque worldbuilding

Or go for the classics Edgar Poe, Bram Stoker and Lovecraft which are referenced so much in the game, and go from there to the more obscure stuff that they reference themselves.
Not as well known you have: Sheridan le Fanu, Arthur Machen (the Pale God), the guy who wrote the King in Yellow (his name escapes me at the moment)… and many others who have written horrible gloomy bloody romantic stuff where everyone is sick and pale and the industrial revolution is not yet killing the old world, religion, myths and legends.
Of course there’s Mary Shelley, but that’s precisely the turning point, when technology appears and creates new kinds of monsters.
I understand they’re not strictly speaking dark fantasy but it’s as close as it gets. You’d probably find what you’re looking for in graphic novels

A lot of people don’t even know about his other writings. Armageddon Ray was his least. Everything else is nearly perfect

i mean anyone whos ever purchased a book from ASOIAF series has seen the cover. the first or last page is usually an AD for the rest of his work

Dying of the light is also worth reading if you like a sad story made by GRRM. It‘s even sadder than ASOIAF

The Winds of Winter will be here when the sun rises in the West and sets in the East. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves. Then it will be released and not before.

It's been ten years now, at least two of which were actually spent writing Fire & Blood. 8 years really isn't that long a time to write a huge epic like he's undoubtedly doing.
