At (12:15). It is my understanding that Physical Starter Packs include 1 toy and one digital ship. So one is good for Co-op. And yes, one can play Co-op with the Digital versions.
This might not be the best video to say this, I should probably wait for one of your videos where you talk about a story from your childhood, but I wanted to thank you so much. I have played so many great games because of you sharing your passion with us. First I played Phantasy Star 1-4 because of you. I loved all of them, and even though I'm a big RPG guy and would have mostly likely played them eventually, you were the first person I heard talking the series up so much and the reason I sought them out in the first place. Then I played all of the Ys games (except for Memories of Celceta, Strategy, and the Japan-only PS2 remakes) because of you and the series retrospective that Game Sack did. Those games were incredible, and without you the series would have felt too daunting to get into. It still seemed daunting at first, but it was because of your passion that I didn't give up. Lastly, there are Shenmue I and II. I just beat Shenmue II last night, which is why I wanted to leave this message today. I was aware of the Shenmue series and I remember how hyped the fans were when Shenmue III was announced, but I'm not sure if I would have played I and II without you. It's a hard series to sell people on because it seems like it would be boring. "Well, in Shenmue I you walk around, talk to people, buy capsule toys, and eventually you get to drive a forklift." And then there were all the reports of glitches in the rerelease that would have scared me off completely if I hadn't heard so many good things about Shenmue from you. And I'm so glad I played these games. Shenmue I and II were two of the greatest games I've ever played. They're also the first two games I ever got platinum trophies for. They were incredible experiences, and after I beat the first game I waited a few days before starting the second because I needed to savor the first game a bit more, like eating something delicious and not wanting that taste to go away. I could go on and on and on about Shenmue, they're games that remind me how great games can be, but I'll stop for now. Thank you so much for all you've done. Congratulations on 10 years and here's to the next 10.

I have been hoping and praying for a Rogue Squadron sequel/remake for a long while. I thought Battlefront 2 would haven given me a taste of that, but nope. I just hope that with StarLink I get a something similar. I am patiently waiting for my copy in the mail today.

It showed promise, but god damn Ubisoft and their open world side quests. Fetch this, destroy this, hack this, save this, etc. If you go out of your way to explore the first planet, you've essentially discovered pretty much everything the game has to offer. That said, if you don't mind repetitive tasks, it's fun to play.
I got the Switch version so I could play as Fox in his Arwing. But I got the digital deluxe version. There is a lot of repetition, but you get a lot of XP and in-game currency when completing those tasks.
Got it the day it dropped not knowing it was 'toy to life' game, and ended up buying all the weapons and an extra ship. $140 in total for this game and the extras.. i'm not even mad. Very fun and action packed.
Growing up I didn't play video games so the aspect of Star Fox being in a game really hugely appeal to me until you hit the end of the video and couch Co-op was brought into it then I was sold!!
I just picked the deluxe digital version up on Switch for $40. It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be. The deluxe version has all the extra stuff included, which I'm glad for because I feel like the toys would just be another thing for me to misplace. I'm genuinely impressed with how huge and seamless the world is, and the sheer amount of things to do. Definitely a solid game, and the Star Fox content is a nice bit of nostalgia.
I think star link is best suited for the Nintendo switch because of the star fox started kit with the ship. I’m happy to being able to use a pro controller and just keeping the jet and stand for a cool collection to have bro.

I bought digital so I don't know if I can put my weapons on backward, but how cool would it be if putting on the flamethower backward gave you a speed boost or something? Also yeah, I'm thinking of buying the starter set even though i already have the game digital because I want that Sweet Arwing toy.

In space there are "Gravity Caches" that require levitation weapons to open. I searched for almost an hour before concluding that you need to buy the weapon to get the gear in these chests.
Maybe I don't really need all of these toys for modding my ships in the game, but honestly I love starfox toy ships, after all I'm a starfox fan from childhood days and there's still a child in me of course, i really love starlink game and I thank Ubisoft for including starfox into the game.
On switch you also get a digital version of the ship you get in the PS4 starter pack and a digital version of the shredder weapon you get in the PS4 starter pack.
The Playstation version should have had Ratchet and Clank and their ship as their exclusive content. As for the Xbox version maybe a character from Halo and one of their UNSC ships. The fact that Ubisoft showed bias towards Nintendo and apparently didn't even try to give the other versions similar offering as their exclusive content to make them more appealing is a big oversight on their part.
My problem with Star Link is that Ubisoft has everyone so busy telling you that you don't need the toys that they actually forgot to have a place online where you could really get a good look at all the toys! I still have no clue what is coming out outside of the starter set and when!
Star Fox zero should have been a game that used its motion control as option instead of its main design element. Also it should have never had the gyro copter
I knew nothing about this game 3 weeks ago then I got to try it. Then I was looking at buying a switch just for starfox. I ended up pre ordering on ps4 but will buy again when I get a switch. It's so much fun

Wow. Since switch has come out, it actually feels like they listen to fan input. Every complaint I've blogged about, from lack of new fighters, to peripherals, to the need for a space exploration game, they've constantly addressed.
I totally forgot about this game, Johnny! I don't have a Switch, but if I did, that's the version I would get because of Star Fox. But I'm sure it will be fun on the other platforms as well.

I will only buy this game on switch when it is dirt cheap because of the day 1 download that is needed to play. To me the day 1 download means it has no physical copy, so the value has dropped. What a shame.
@mazrimalthor the game on switch needs a 4gb download to play. The whole game is not on the cartridge. I find it weird nobody reviewing the game mentions it.
so get a micro sd card?? 4gb is not a lot compared to other games, almost every game out on other consoles requires a download of 20gig or more to build a world this big is going to take a lot of memory and until Nintendo lower the prices of cartridges over 4gig most companies will only fit the essentials on the cart and have the rest as a digital download. I really don't understand peoples problems with a download for a game this big and expansive
no, Its not the fact the SD card is expensive or not it is because if i buy this game at full price with the game no fully on the cartridge and in ten years when they no longer support the game, my switch breaks. When i go out to buy a new switch to play the game I have purchased and maybe all the figurines i have bought also, none of it can be played. IT IS ALL JUNK. Maybe they should have made a little less plastic crap and maybe spent a bit more money on a larger cartridge size. But that is just me, you do whatever you want to do.Also the money i have did not fall from a tree. If i give them my money which i worked hundreds of hours for then i must have faith in their product in the future, which i don't. so they can swivel.
I am not talking about the SD card being expensive,I am talking about the cartridge the games are on, if you aren't nintendo, developers of switch games are only provided with 4 gb of space on that cartridge which is an insanely small amount for a game nowadays as a developer you can pay for bigger cartridges but its hella expensive and why would you do that when you can have part of the game as a digital download. so having the base on the cartridge and having the rest as a digital download is perfectly reasonable secondly, If you only buy games that you're going to be able to play in 10 years then you must buy literally no games.
Nice little review... but think it might have been tainted by it being a free copy? Also, I would had been sold if it was just a StarFox game and not another game with the StarFox bolt on. Sounds ok, but not enough to buy into it for me.
Not sure how I feel about this, I think sega's afterburner from the late 80's is one of the most ambitious and exciting things I ever saw, even space harrier was kind of like that, that is the spirit they need to bring back, fast moving games with that sense of urgency.
Will i be able to change characters weapon and upgrade guns and ship without the toys? Will i be able to do everything without the toys as if i were to play with the toys? Or are there things that may be left out?

Here's a quick question: If you could only get either two weapon packs, or a ship pack, which would you pick? I'm thinking weapon packs for the different options.
Despite being graphically inferior to the other versions, the Switch version seems to be the definitive version. I may prefer physical over digital, but when I buy this game I'm going the digital deluxe route to have all the ships and content unlocked, without the need for the toys.
I really wish they would release a physical version that doesn't force you to get the toys.... then again it is their main business model, so I guess the only option I have is to wait for a second hand physical version... never the less, I must say the graphics looks beautiful for the Switch version though
Get the digital version, if you somehow get a second hand physical version without the mount and toys than you'll essentially be locked out of the game since you need to use the mount at least once to start the game.

Funny how most people are buying this game just to play as Fox McCloud. They should have just made it a stand-alone Starfox game.

The Playstation version should have had Ratchet and Clank and their ship as their exclusive content. As for the Xbox version maybe a character from Halo and one of their UNSC ships.
The fact that Ubisoft showed bias towards Nintendo and apparently didn't even try to give the other versions similar offering as their exclusive content to make them more appealing is a big oversight on their part.
Sony and Microsoft dont care enough about this game. Nintendo worked out a deal with Ubisoft and even helped develop some of the Star Fox stuff.
Imagine if they had just made this a star fox game and ditched the toys-to-life thing

My problem with Star Link is that Ubisoft has everyone so busy telling you that you don't need the toys that they actually forgot to have a place online where you could really get a good look at all the toys! I still have no clue what is coming out outside of the starter set and when!

Yep; this game doesn’t have cut scenes on one screen while you’re supposed to keep paying attention to flying on the other.
Star Fox zero should have been a game that used its motion control as option instead of its main design element. Also it should have never had the gyro copter

I knew nothing about this game 3 weeks ago then I got to try it. Then I was looking at buying a switch just for starfox. I ended up pre ordering on ps4 but will buy again when I get a switch. It's so much fun

Wow. Since switch has come out, it actually feels like they listen to fan input. Every complaint I've blogged about, from lack of new fighters, to peripherals, to the need for a space exploration game, they've constantly addressed.

I totally forgot about this game, Johnny! I don't have a Switch, but if I did, that's the version I would get because of Star Fox. But I'm sure it will be fun on the other platforms as well.

Played it for a couple hours and it already feels like I've seen everything this game has to offer, also there's loot you can't access unless you buy a weapon with the right element

repetition is the mother of skill (my dad said that), the reason why is because its fun and with to much to do why wouldn't you be in heaven like you said :) nice review by the way. but yeah I hope there are a few attack buttons.
Also this game is all about faction building and repatriation is a normal part of that.
I will only buy this game on switch when it is dirt cheap because of the day 1 download that is needed to play. To me the day 1 download means it has no physical copy, so the value has dropped. What a shame.

@mazrimalthor the game on switch needs a 4gb download to play. The whole game is not on the cartridge. I find it weird nobody reviewing the game mentions it.

4gb is not a lot compared to other games, almost every game out on other consoles requires a download of 20gig or more
to build a world this big is going to take a lot of memory and until Nintendo lower the prices of cartridges over 4gig most companies will only fit the essentials on the cart and have the rest as a digital download. I really don't understand peoples problems with a download for a game this big and expansive
no, Its not the fact the SD card is expensive or not it is because if i buy this game at full price with the game no fully on the cartridge and in ten years when they no longer support the game, my switch breaks. When i go out to buy a new switch to play the game I have purchased and maybe all the figurines i have bought also, none of it can be played. IT IS ALL JUNK. Maybe they should have made a little less plastic crap and maybe spent a bit more money on a larger cartridge size. But that is just me, you do whatever you want to do.Also the money i have did not fall from a tree. If i give them my money which i worked hundreds of hours for then i must have faith in their product in the future, which i don't. so they can swivel.
I am not talking about the SD card being expensive,I am talking about the cartridge the games are on, if you aren't nintendo, developers of switch games are only provided with 4 gb of space on that cartridge which is an insanely small amount for a game nowadays
as a developer you can pay for bigger cartridges but its hella expensive and why would you do that when you can have part of the game as a digital download.
so having the base on the cartridge and having the rest as a digital download is perfectly reasonable
secondly, If you only buy games that you're going to be able to play in 10 years then you must buy literally no games.
Nice little review... but think it might have been tainted by it being a free copy? Also, I would had been sold if it was just a StarFox game and not another game with the StarFox bolt on. Sounds ok, but not enough to buy into it for me.

Ok i've got this game and i love it! Im using the toys, i got the ar wing and bought most of the extra weapons. Fun to swap weapons on the fly imo.
Not sure how I feel about this, I think sega's afterburner from the late 80's is one of the most ambitious and exciting things I ever saw, even space harrier was kind of like that, that is the spirit they need to bring back, fast moving games with that sense of urgency.
Will i be able to change characters weapon and upgrade guns and ship without the toys? Will i be able to do everything without the toys as if i were to play with the toys? Or are there things that may be left out?

Here's a quick question: If you could only get either two weapon packs, or a ship pack, which would you pick? I'm thinking weapon packs for the different options.
Despite being graphically inferior to the other versions, the Switch version seems to be the definitive version.
I may prefer physical over digital, but when I buy this game I'm going the digital deluxe route to have all the ships and content unlocked, without the need for the toys.
I really wish they would release a physical version that doesn't force you to get the toys.... then again it is their main business model, so I guess the only option I have is to wait for a second hand physical version... never the less, I must say the graphics looks beautiful for the Switch version though
Get the digital version, if you somehow get a second hand physical version without the mount and toys than you'll essentially be locked out of the game since you need to use the mount at least once to start the game.
