Can you please do a video on just hearing you talk about cross stitch and your tips for your hand stitching method and watching you do it? You accomplish more than I do (by about 20!) and I stitch every day for at least three hours!

I have several monthly year rounds that I work a month ahead or during the month I finish it completely then I start the next one at the month of the year I’m currently at. Whatever I missed I attempt those the next year. It’s amazing how following years the annuals I need to catch up don’t seem to be the same months. It’s so much fun!!!! 🎉
I've seen a lot of people stitch on Christmas Plum Fairy. I've always liked it, and I may just buy it when I get done with the butterflies. I like using the opalescent fabric, it really dresses up the designs.

Fantastic framing Sarah - I love all the fairies. I have 2 granddaughters but their initials are the same! I will have to change up the colours. I really like the diversity of your stitching - you get so much done. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, I tried to change the colors on most of the letters I did to reflect the girl's favorite color(s). So, that's perfect especially when they're the same letter!
I've been watching for awhile and wondered if you had considered gifting to the male graduates their Initial stitched. Vonya the twisted stitcher recently finished the j I think they are Nora corbets. That would be a masculine version of your letter fairies and an additional piece for your own boys when they graduate.
I didn't figure my nephews would appreciate a stitched gift of any kind, so I don't want to go to all that trouble for them. My sons appreciate my stitching a bit more than the average boy, since they see me working on stuff all the time and they can see the project grow and help provide input along the way, if needed. So, I'll gift them stitching, but I think they'll be happier with the themed projects I've chosen than initials. :)

Are you able to see the 40 count without magnification? I love the finished product on 40 count (and because I don't have room for huge pieces, would make many more patterns accessible size-wise) but really doubt I'd be able to see it. I love all your stitching!
Yes, at this point I am still able to see the 40 count fabric without magnification. I'm enjoying it while I can, as I'm sure those days are in the near-ish future for me. :)

In dragon ride did you backstitch the man 1 over 1 or 2 over 2?
I remember you were considering it a while back !
The backstitching was always going to be done with one strand - it was just a matter of how many fabric threads to jump as I stitched. I decided to do the backstitching 1 over 2 in the places where there were long stretches of straight. It was much easier to do, since the 1 over 1 was practically invisible. Sometimes it looks a bit too noticeable, but since there are several slightly angled legs of backstitching that needed to be over 2 threads anyway, it kind of matched. Part of me thinks it might have still looked better doing it 1 over 1, but I'm happy to be done - doing it 1 over 1 would have taken a LONG time! :D
When you’re working on a block of ten, what do you do with an unfinished thread? Do you just end it or carry it to the next block in which it appears?
I prefer to stitch as much as I can before ending a thread. In my full coverage projects, I choose symbols within a 10x10 square, but then I will stitch each symbol all around the vicinity until my thread runs out. I will often take a look around the area before cutting my thread to see how many stitches of that color are nearby. If there are only a handful of stitches in a particular color, I will either cut a rather short piece of thread to begin with, or just cut off my thread when the couple stitches are done. If there are a lot of a particular symbol, I will cut a longer thread and enjoy getting some fill in!

When you frame, do you put spacers between glass and stitching??
No, my framing is super basic. As you'll see in the tutorial I posted right before this video, I just lace the stitching and pop it in the frame. Sometimes on smaller pieces, I'll lay it in the frame flat without even lacing - especially if I'm planning to swap it out monthly, for example. If you wanted to use spacers, I don't think it would be very easy to use a store-bought frame, as the depth is just not there. It barely works to keep the glass in sometimes.

In my town, we have elementary school (grades kindergarten through 6th), which is generally 5-11 year olds when they begin. Then, they move on to junior high (grades 7th-8th), which is generally 12-13 year olds when they begin. Then, high school includes grades 9th-12th, which is generally 14-17 year olds when they begin. A majority of high school graduates are 18 by the end of the school year when they graduate.
Some towns here in the states have a "middle school" instead of a "junior high", which basically shifts which school the 6th graders are at. In that set up, middle school includes 6th-8th grades, or kids generally ages 11-13 at the start of the school year. I have heard of another arrangement of grades that is even more different than either of these, but these are the two most common arrangements where I've lived. :)
Thank you, great answer. Our teenagers now have to stay in education until 18 and that's called 6th form or college. I was 15 when I left school 20 odd years ago lol
@@kirstyvink8248 Wow! That’s very interesting. What we call college here is optional and it’s for 18+ people who have graduated from high school. Typically 18-21 year olds for a standard bachelor’s degree. And some schools use the term college in their title and some use the term university, and it varies based on specific criteria of what the school offers. Typically, smaller schools with fewer majors, etc, will be called college. The school I went to was a college when I was there, but they’ve grown in what they offer and are now technically a university and changed their name a few years back.
It’s very interesting how different countries have different specifics in their education system. It’s always strange to think of Australia’s school terms starting in January as opposed to August/September, but it makes sense based on their opposite seasons. And some areas have a year-round schedule with several medium length breaks, while others have what we still call a “traditional” schedule with shorter breaks during the year and a long summer break. Our school district is kind of a blend of both! 🤪
