Thanks for the trip, Chad your wife has made the right choice about flying, I could never get her to go it even took me many many years to get her to go commercial now that’s the only way she wants to travel. 😅😅

Great video as always Chad. Would Michelle be willing to take a few lessons with a CFI? Back when I was getting my license, my wife was worried about things she wasn't familiar with. She took enough lessons to solo, and everything became easier and had a better understanding of why the bumps are happening. Now its just me that is uncomfortable on the bumpy days !!!

I offered that to her and she said she would not fly with anyone else but me. She told me that if she doesn't want to be on a roller coaster, trying to make her ride one with another person would not happen. I think her body is just taking some time to get used to the ups and downs. She is doing much better these days so I'm hoping it won't be too much longer that she can relax. That is a very good suggestion tho.

I have really enjoyed watching your videos. I also appreciate you mentioning your faith in Jesus Christ and I am also a follower of Christ. I am currently investigating a Dakota as a possible next aircraft although the current market may keep me on the sidelines for a while longer. I wanted to ask you about your experience or any concerns with the "D" mag. Does your Lycoming still have this single drive magneto and also wondering what if any comments or suggestions that Savvy may have about these mags. I believe that there is now an STC from Electroair to add dual electronic ignition with a backup electrical source. Also, I really like the total panel reconfiguration that you did and was wondering your thoughts and experiences with this new layout vs the old Piper engine gauges and rocker switches being in the way if your don't relocate them. It seems that without the total panel redo it would be very difficult to get the desired layout as you have. I enjoyed your video when you revealed the new panel. Any information to help as a potential buyer is appreciated. My last aircraft was a 1973 Beechcraft V35B but the Dakota would fit my mission better and help with carrying 4 out of our 2800' grass strip.

Thank you for commenting and for watching my videos! I wanted to change over to electronic ignition but the cost was what turned me off. The fact is that another plate has to be installed and would require basically an overhaul which is not something I wanted to tackle right now. The mechanic told me to switch I was looking at around $40,000. The single drive on those D mags have held up with all other mags as far as I can tell from my extensive research. These would not be my choice of magneto system but with the Dakota that is what most have. That being said I'm sure there is someone out there that had dual mag failure but I looked and could not locate one. Savvy says that they would not let the dual mag system stop from buying a Dakota, which is exactly why I pulled the trigger on mine because I was very concerned when I was looking. If the dual mag system was not driven by only one shaft, then electroair would be in my list of things to change. If you wanted to have a similar panel layout, then the entire bracing would need to be reengineered and fabricated by a shop approved to make such changes behind the panel. Since this avionics shop could these changes it worked out for me but they did not charge me because I am friends with the owner of the shop,I got lucky. I think leaving the rocker switches where they are you would still enjoy the same type of avionics just have to move some to the right stack which I think most would be ok with that. I think waiting for the prices to go down is a good idea, but who really knows. I had an old 1958 v-tail many years ago and boy this dakota will stand on its tail as long as it is not too hot outside. When I'm flying just Michelle and I, we usually can keep 1000fpm all the way through 5000,very capable airplane.

I was checking out aopa and the trip that was made to Alaska. From Seattle to Ketchikan was straight shot(560m), and all coastline. Domestic flight for general aviation with no customs in Canada. I know you don't like water, but Heyyyyyyy! 😅

Me and Michelle are actually in Kohler Wisconsin right now! If I had a seaplane rating that does look like a super cool trip no doubt.
