- Hello everyone so here I have told you all regarding why you shouldn't join iiser and all these are my personal opinion based on my experience there.

iiser mohali student here.
i think if you are interested in pure science and want to pursue it as a career, and you are decently hardworking, then you can fairly comfortably survive in iiser. and getting internships is not easy but not too hard either.
basically do not come if you are not interested in pure science and want placement right after graduation .and if you want to become a researcher then to build a good career in research you will ofc have to work hard.
Science is done for the sake of doing it/understanding nature and i hope you people are doing it for that purpose only... Huge respect to all of you when most of the people of are running behind figuring out ways to make big money ❤
We are doing it but in reality doing it takes lot of courage and strong mind. Coz society doesn't let us live 😂

As a person who has been interested in astronomy and astrophysics as a young child and is giving the IAT this year, I hope I can ace the exam and get into IISER so I can follow my dreams.

One of the reason i choose iiser pune over mbbs was my interest for physics.
Now that i have been through 1 semester i am quite dissapointed. The physics that i studied here is not at all like that of jee or neet, like i used to enjoy solving hard problems but here the entire focus is there on theoritical aspect. In Sem 2 we are having 2 math courses running simultaneously(Calculus 2 n Linear algebra). My friend from ISI kolkata after seeing this cirriculum says that how the hell are you going to focus on other subjects when you have these 2 'heavy' math courses. I had a myth that one has to study lesser here than in mbbs which got completely shattered. I had to spend sleepless nights before exams and still managed to get only 8.6 sgpa. It is not that flowery as it is shown from outside that you just complete your 4 years and then fly abroad for a phD. Only after coming to iiser did i get to see some harsh realities. If you are not great in studies ,then its actually hard to survive with dignity in iiser.
I Agree , the maths here is completely different from what we studied in our JEE , like we always solved problems we were given problems and we used to try and find the answers by solving ,
What is happening here is the maths is prove based like you need to write paragraphs in maths its completely different and mind boggling .
Anyways , your CGPA is really good , in my department as of now only 3 people have a a CGPA of above 8 .

Its very true that if you are not getting you favourite branch in iit nit then take that branch in state government college or in other private college. Donot run for iiser iit nit tag just run for your favourite branch please..
My brother has passed out BS-MS course from iiser trivandrum.He is now currently in USA pursuing P.hd in Chemistry.
U have to work hard for everything in life.. At this level u can't even expect to study one day before and pass the exam.

And you seem to insinuate that your effort, if enough, will never go in vain, because companies and foreign universities will respect and acknowledge it fully as compared to if you simply put a little more effort in a private engineering college instead.

When the student will think for himself/herself? This curriculum seems to decrease the creativity of students. Why does a non-bio student care about bio? This education system is so ineffective, no doubt why india is lagging so behind in natural science and math research.
I think it’s a great idea, gives you perspective before you enter masters. It’s very likely you might find a certain area of combined subjects such as biophysics interesting, students like me early on have difficulty choosing just one specific area so it’s like a good thing, I believe.

I am a jee aspirant, I am giving this exam against my will and the exam is just 2 weeks from now. I have always been very passionate about particles especially the emerging field of quantum computing and the mission to expand qubits. I am determined and ready to work hard for the subject my only concern is about me not being smart enough. Also money isn’t my priority, I would be happy working part-time to suffice day to day food and rent. Research as I know it is the closest thing to purpose I have in my life, I have been severely depressed for the past few years and the only thing that keeps me afloat is working on my goals and learning. I hate the jee pattern, the rigorous question solving without ever understanding the core, I love the depth and complexity in topics. I wish I never chose jee and just did experiments and learnt physics these past two years but unfortunately I have ended up in a very miserable situation where I might not even clear the cutoff for advance. I wouldn’t give up studying if, alas I end up in a not so good college, I have a passion, I am just not sure if I would be able to carry through bcoz I consider myself to be dumb, but yes after failing here, I will not repeat the mistakes and hardwork is what I want, keeps me distracted, keeps me going and brings worth to my otherwise useless existence. I genuinely want to study I just am not sure if I am capable enough. About internships and running after professors I am good at that department, extroversion comes naturally to me. In all, how is the scope for physics research and the discrimination against women in the field? any advices from your side will be very helpful. Thank you for the video.

@sanatani_shrutiyes you can take a drop after 3 year you'll get bsc degree but believe me worth it nhi hoga pura 4 year BS kro aur usse better 5 year me BS and MS dono kro thats the best
No you can't exit after 3 years. BS is of 4 years so you can exit after 4 years and MS is of 1 year so you can exit after that too. But at iiser there is nothing like bsc . It is BS which is of 4 years @sanatani_shruti

Can i become Teacher in KVS (Kendriya vidyalaya) after Ms from IISER or Msc from IIT as these are not universities ,these are institute so, will i be eligible because, as per eligibility criteria one has to do Masters from a recognized university, ?? And iit or IISER do not come under UGC and in official eligibility circular there is no mention of research institutes , same case with

I mean it is not like you have to study all day long at IISER. Everyone had their own ways of enjoying their time. Many students from my batch got PhDs and some got jobs also in good companies. But some of your points are valid. If you just want a job after a degree, IISER is not not the best place.
