Known as Halong Bay on land, Ninh binh has all of the dramatic scenery of its seaside counterpart, but instead of the ocean, these sharp limestone cliffs are divided by bright green rice fields and meandering rivers. Once the historic first capital of Vietnam, this picturesque landscape is also dotted with historic palaces and temples. On our first day in Ninh Binh, we rented bikes to cruise through these mountains on our way to scenic boat rides and the ancient capital city, and here’s how it went…
