Right back at ya brother, hopefully you got a lot of time in that 50 years. Glad you enjoy and understand the relationship lol. I am sure there are spme parallels 😉.
The IXF for the price is good. I bought it after seeing it on your channel. The issue of the iXF is bottom braket design. The plastic covers aren't actually sealed and don't keep water and dirt debris out. And the bearing themselves are not rubber sealed. This will sieze up, especially in wet muddy conditions. I rode my bike in the winter and in spring (in Canada) when it was muddy and wet, which is how my bottom braket seized. I actually just took out the siezed bearings and replaced them with better bearings, which were properly rubber sealed and packed the cups with grease before putting on the plastic cover. So far, no issues. After I serviced the bottom braket, it was fine. However but it definitely needs better bearings, which is cheap to replace. Or just buy a new bottom braket that has a better plastic cover. The bearing size is 6805 2RS. I bought a 10 pack on Amazon.
Wow, I just had something similar happen. Pulled the ixf bb, and the non drive side was dragging badly. I've since replaced with a twin peaks ceramic bearing bb. Then, the hardware backed out on the crank arm while riding and crated play back and forth with the crank arm sliding off the "shaft." Good luck with your new bb.
Wolf and Tick guys you two make me giggle guys your both awesome lol. i have had to replace my BB on both the IXF unit i bought.... i was pissed off the first time BUT considering the price the weight and performance .....plus it took a good few years to go on both. i have replaced with Shimano equivalent but still have both IXF cranks on my bikes ..... in all honesty i love my IXF cranks they are one of my favourite mods, when the second one went i thought "OK i knew something had to give at this price" i will keep buying these and will just replace the BB when it comes time ..... its not like ive never had a set of Shimano go out on me before i have replaced plenty of those too, i consider BB's a consumable for the stress and abuse we put them through. Great vide once again guys my favourite channel on the tube by far thankyou guys.
Hey Phil, your right man a good ixf is a great upgrade! And of course for the price you can't beat em! Thanks for the comment and glad your still enjoying the show brother, be safe out there

Big news in store for my GT Aggressor Pro.... I just ordered.... an upgrade for it.... ... wait for it .... wait for it.... I ordered a 100cc gas motor that I'm going to attempt to run on the GT. If I can get it set up, I'm gonna order a bike specifically for the motor... but gonna test it out on the GT. Only con is I'm gonna have to lose the rear brakes... needs too many mods to work with rear disc brakes... hence why if I get it up and running, I'm gonna order a bike with front disc , rear whatever they're called... Thinking of the Kent Genesis Silverton or Kent Thruster (dont have front disc though but cheaper)
just put these on my agressor pro this morning and the ixf came dry. the bottom bracket had no grease. i had to wait till it came in to put them on today.
That's because you have more muscle in your legs then I do! Lol I expected something to go wrong sooner or later 🙃 Thank you for the coffees BTW! Very thankful for yall two 💓
Funny, I ran into the same issue 2 weeks ago with the trouvaille. The bike have been sitting since November, and I noticed it wouldn't spin anymore. My plastic spacers are all crushed (shimano deore is also using plastic spacers too), and bearings are seized up (particularly the drive side). I have running these ixf since 2018, this is the only set I have problem with. Side note, jgbike is using aluminum spacers with their crankset.
The IXF cranks are awesome and virtually indestructible just get a good BB and a RaceFace or Wolftooth chainring. The ones that come with the cranks are like a gag-gift party favor.
We have used about 15 IXF cranksets and they are definitely a great value. We have had pretty good luck with the bbs but it seams that the more recent ones are tending to give some people more trouble. When some of the IXF cranksets are sent out some are with aluminum spacers and some are plastic...the plastic ones are where I think most fail that do fail.
I just threw a Shimano on and threw the included BB in my parts bin. Maybe I'll try some better spacers on another build with it. Thanks! Love the show BTW!
Ixf cranks and shimano bb52 bottom bracket. That what i suggest to everybody who is just starting with the hollo crank stuff. Ixf bb bearings are so crappy. BB52 shimano BB is pretty cheap, same bearings as the shimano saint, same bearings as the shimano zee. UCI dowhill proof bottom brackets. But cheap. Still a part of the budget built parts. 💪
Had issues with the shaft was too small and engagement of the splines was bad. First time in Moab and other one on local trail. Got lucky I was about to hit some jumps. The none drive side crank fell off both times. I got pictures that I can send.
Is their a hole drilled in the bottom bracket? If not, drill one so water can escape that is likely coming in from the seat post and working its way into the bearings.
I recently purchased an IXF crankset for my Axum. I first installed it with only one spacer on the drive side. My first run without any crashes i was hearing a rubbing noise only on every other revolution. Couldn't figure out what it was until closer to the end of riding. the drive side crank arm was hitting the chainstay. So, I installed an additional spacer. It improved but did not solve the issue. only rubs when alot of torque is applied. I'm led to believe that the drive side crank is possibly bent from the factory. IDK. I have a replacement on the way to see if that is the issue or not. If the second does the same thing then I will probably go a different route. Any suggestions for another budget friendly crankset?
it was from that broken spacer. that pressure from the bb pushing out against the crank is what destroyed it. the bb came loose and while pedalling you were undoing the threads because the bb was turning with the cranks and pushing against it.
I've got the same crank not IXF but generic crank same category bought mine for $28 including the chainring. And Yes I can confirm bearings are the downsides, changed mine to a 6805 ABEC rated and it's the best thing, the funny thing is the bearing's price is like almost half of the crank's price.
The drive side bearing broke after the first ride for my IXF. I switched it out for a Shimano one and haven't had a problem. The cranks themselves seem solid.
There's Wolfman yelling at the talent! Sounds like part of the bearing cage broke down, could be from the loose cup spacer and spindle movement. Yes, spindle.....
Spindle ahh $%^T chuck, your tripping again lol. Yelling at the talent, that's good stuff!! Looking forward to meeting up in September man, check patreon!! Did not make the cut #7 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
I've not replaced the cranks YET on my Walgoose Ledge X1... already have the bottom bracket...but looking good for a good deal on a rear WTB st i30 27.5 wheel and wanna match the 29 wheel I got up front. (Going mullet!) Still haven't replaced the rear suspension yet either...in time... Glad the cranks themselves are good still. Was curious...why need the spacers at all? Will the front sprocket hit the frame if the number of teeth too much? Or is it to bring the front gear more midline with the rear gearing? I may be answering my own question here... 😂

Man, my IXF bearings in the BB did they same thing on my GT. Hey rusted and cracked. But prior to that I was getting the mysterious creak and I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. It’s just unfortunate that sealed bearings cost just as much as the entire crankset and BB.
Yes sir, we love the ixf stuff. We have plenty of videos on them, check out this affiliate link amzn.to/3LeEGV6 I would look at the 30T round chainring. It should fit up no problem, we just out one on our GT Aggressor Pro.
yea i had the same feeling when my square tapered bb bearings were destryed. I slamed my rear brake and I heard a crunch sound. though I some ho boke my free hub. As it turned out, the bb I had ( Stock so about 5years) gave up!
The bearings most likely failed from a bad seal, which let moisture in..a tip, smear a light film of grease on those plastic spacers before tightening them to stop them from galling up and warping as you tighten the BB..good luck👍🏻
Do the current IXF cranks have the right crank arm stick out more by a few mm? That was an issue seen before. Trybo did a review of Jiankun IXF 3 years ago. Machining was not great.
I've tried the ixf cranks and I never use the bb which is supplied with it ..the only problem I find with the cranks is there's no quality control in the production
I think the crank failure may be due to a combination of over tightening and water. One bearing seemed to have rust marks in it. Probably a good idea to re-lube after getting those that wet. BTW: I picked up a Kent 27.5 eBike for $498 at Walmart. Changed the fork, seat, pedals, stem, and handgrips. It’s pedal assist only. I don’t expect to ride it too much because I want my exercise. Hey bro did you switch it out? I'm thinking of ordering these cranksets and just buying a Shimano BB at the same time and change it all out on My GT Aggressor Pro
Did the replacement BB have aluminum or plastic spacer rings? Glad to see you could reuse the crank, nice color, and that the frame threads were undamaged!
My ixf has been great, I guess everything has its limits, but considering the price I don't think you can complain. Man gummy worm is a great looking bike, one of the best! Take care my friends 😎🍻👍
Man the IXFs are tough! This could of been juat a bad batch. We own like 10 of them that are currently on bikes and not 1 problem 👍 HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!! It's your day Danny Boy🍀🍻🍻
Oh yeah the crankset shouldn’t fail unless you land super hard and break / bend it, as far as the bb just swap it to a shimano mt800 since the cheap one that comes with the cranks is basically free anyway.
The bb included with the ixf has always been the first one to fail. The cranks are pretty strong but the bb they include with the set have weak bearings
11:57 & 12:02 I can't see any cracks. What exactly do you think is cracked? the balls? the separator?(the thing between the balls that keep them in place) The parts between the balls are not cracked balls they are the separator, it's meant to be like that. Is the inner or outer race or both cracked? Am I just not seen it cus 1080p video and TH-cam compression? Keep in mind that bearings that are just regular bearings should not be used for bottom brackets, as they can't be preloaded. You need angular contact bearings, so as they wear you can preload them until they wear out after years of use. But regular bearings you have to change in months or every year or so. But tolerances also make a big difference. So cheap junk will wear fast. But the spacers failed, the bottom bracket cups were loose, so the bearings were not preloaded, so if ridden like that, this will abuse the bottom bracket, possibly damage the threads, the bearings.
I had an IXF bottom bracket that was too small for the crankset that shipped with it. When i inserted the crank shaft into the bottom bracket it got stopped in its tracks. The plastic liner that goes over the bearings sheered off. Without it, it was flopping around. Ended up getting Ali to comp me.
That happened to me too! The plastic seal that goes around the bearings is so cheap and flimsy when it got stuck and I tried removing it the just shattered into pieces. The bottom bracket sucks!
I would not mind used stuff, if it's treated well there is nothing wrong with that, But as you said the market varies. I only bought from users with good reputation, and proper pictures. I got some sweet parts for cheap, or cheaper, but not many. I am in Norway. But forks is easy to get here usually, so knock off forks is silly to buy here, as you can get a Rock Shox fork in decent shape for the same price or less. But even pricier forks like Fox 32,34, 36 Factory could be found and quite low prices, but not that low of course, but at significant reduction, and sometimes even crazy low prices, and when it comes to stems and bars, there are some nice budget options there from reputable brands, so pointless, but that can be found in retailers world wide, and then there are sales so you can get stuff cheap. so watch out for those, I bought a lot of Mavic jerseys for 70% off. Some Endura trousers for about half price, gloves, some Leatt gloves, and the list goes on. So my point is watch out for what is on sale and what you can get secondhand, and save searches for parts you want, so you get notified, grab it before it's gone. The market was a bit dry in the covid craziness, but it improved eventually.
14:58 Exploded bearings? I did not see any exploded bearings in this video. But I have seen that in real life on a bike I had, crushed bearings, metal shavings. grinding paste. actually collapsed bearings. It was in 2015 on a 2014 Fuel EX, FSA headset failed in few days.
if the next time you come across a bb with crakes in it, at the shop that i go to said to me that if you see cracks in the bbthose cracks are calls stress fracker
17:12 Cush Core Stuff? Cush Core is closed foam and it's molded to shape. it's not cut the Vittoria has foam you cut to size and use a tie to secure it.I have the original Cush Core product, before it was called Cush Core Pro, got it before it came to market in Norway.
Not 100% sure , but im think those IXF cranks are 24mm like the shimano standard , and you may be able to use a generic shimano acera/deore bottom bracket for $30. I have a deore bottom bracket that's over 6000km on it right now.
Great vid as always! Regarding the bottom bracket that comes with the iXF cranksets...I ordered the crankset from BNVB on Amazon and received plastic spacers. DEKAS has the same crankset on Amazon for the exact same price. I asked about the spacers and DEKAS replied that theirs include aluminum spacers. I returned the BNVB and ordered the DEKAS. Arriving today so we'll see! UPDATE: Received DEKAS iXF crankset yesterday and it also included plastic spacers. I contacted them and they replied that they are "nylon & fiber" spacers and offered me a $3 refund for the inconvenience. 🙄
You can buy BBs, in colours, over here in China for $3.12usd now (Lunje brand). There's no way my wheels are leaving the ground with them fitted!! I've upgraded to Deore M6120/BB52 boost crankset and BB. $71usd here. I was blowing the bearings in too many cheap BBs. Many times Id go out, ride down zone stairs and the BB would blow on the spot, even cheap chainring bend! FSA Comet boost cranks came on my bike. I crashed on rocks and weakened the pedal threads on the drive side so bought the Deore set before I lose a pedal on a ride and have to walk down from 3000m up. Pressing down, a weight on my mind recently, is the "false economies" that need to be considered.
The impressive part to me still is the price you can get these at and they can handle quite a bit of abuse..... Hard to beat these for the price. Definitely a cracked bearing.... The fun part would be to buy a new bearing and swap it out and see how long you can keep it going for!
I’ve had no problems with ixf. I did swap out the bb recently on my gravel bike to a shimano mt800 just so I’m not using that super cheap bb. that’s weird that you would have issues with the crank turning , I’ve used some pretty nasty bbs with these cheap cranksets and can’t imagine them failing so bad that they lock up.
Glad it finally arrived. I think you'll love it make sure you scan the qr code and watch the video as it works slightly different from regular tyre levers. And as always F U Tick 😜
Thoses cranks will have a bad chainline with boost rear hub. 10-11-12 speed. And adding 2 botttom bracket shims there is not much crank spline engaged on the other side
Some BB are not designed for impact loads like jumps and drops. SRAM Truvativ Powerspline BB even has a sticker on it with that statement. This IXF BB probably wasn't built for the jumps you were doing, only XC type of riding.
We did lift the seal off. Some of the balls were cracked, and there was still grease🤷♂️. It's hard to tell in the video, but they definitely weren't dry.
I bought a Shimano Saint BB (thinking it would be better than the ixf BB, it's pretty much the same) which is like top of the top of the line and it included plastic spacers. I don't use spacers on my GT Aggressor Pro though so it's no big deal for me.

I got a brand new ixf crankset on my gt avalanche and its smooth but a little stiff thinking about awapping the bottom bracket out for a shimano bb
So lucky they were not!! The replacement was plastic 😔 but it looks like the li k we found has aluminum?? We may order one juat to find out 😉
I have crawler innovations foams on my RC crawler
My ixf has been great, I guess everything has its limits, but considering the price I don't think you can complain.
Man gummy worm is a great looking bike, one of the best!
Take care my friends 😎🍻👍
Man the IXFs are tough! This could of been juat a bad batch. We own like 10 of them that are currently on bikes and not 1 problem 👍 HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!! It's your day Danny Boy🍀🍻🍻
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thanks guys, Guinness all round 🍻🍻
Oh yeah the crankset shouldn’t fail unless you land super hard and break / bend it, as far as the bb just swap it to a shimano mt800 since the cheap one that comes with the cranks is basically free anyway.
So the only issue is the bottom bracket. The crank arms are pretty durable
What is the patreon bike and what's the build consist of?
Another entertaining video! I really need to catch up on your Patreon, I always forget I'm subscribed lol
I’ve lost the outer preload bolt for this crankset. Does anyone know the size m20,m19 or m18
The bb included with the ixf has always been the first one to fail. The cranks are pretty strong but the bb they include with the set have weak bearings
Do you pressure wash your bike?
I have that problem with jgbike crankset. The BB that came with it is too small for the spindle to go through.
I have been through 3 relationships since you started using IXF crank sets 😂
Dude! I had the same problem with a Shimano Alivio bottom bracket. Talk about your smashed balls! 😆
🤣🤣🤣 I hate it when that happens!! Lol
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Well. As long as you don't turn Twink then your fine! 😆
It’s a bearing race it holds all the bb’s or bearings in place
I use spacers on the axle instead for the bb
17:12 Cush Core Stuff? Cush Core is closed foam and it's molded to shape.
it's not cut the Vittoria has foam you cut to size and use a tie to secure it.I have the original Cush Core product, before it was called Cush Core Pro, got it before it came to market in Norway.
That frame. Painted with pancake batter?
They are soft aluminum cranks. I have had customers cranks bend and break on basic XC rides.
Not 100% sure , but im think those IXF cranks are 24mm like the shimano standard , and you may be able to use a generic shimano acera/deore bottom bracket for $30. I have a deore bottom bracket that's over 6000km on it right now.
This channel Rocks 🤘
I’m not sure clamping the bike in the stand by the dropper post is a great idea.
The impressive part to me still is the price you can get these at and they can handle quite a bit of abuse..... Hard to beat these for the price. Definitely a cracked bearing.... The fun part would be to buy a new bearing and swap it out and see how long you can keep it going for!
I could see that for sure man! These are very affordable and especially if you just need a BB and shell, it's like $13
I’ve had no problems with ixf.
🤣🤣👌Thanks man!! I packed it this morning! Gonna be great to have on me, I'll be sure to watch the video. Thanks again and F U 🍻
🙏🏼
F U CANCER
😆😆🤘🤘
Love that!!
Oh it was an epic build man!! Thanks Dan, HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!!!
Thoses cranks will have a bad chainline with boost rear hub. 10-11-12 speed. And adding 2 botttom bracket shims there is not much crank spline engaged on the other side
When are you guys gunna come to the UK 🇬🇧
7:14 Plastic spacers there is stupid, it's not even strong plastic if it does that. But I prefer it to be aluminium.
Some BB are not designed for impact loads like jumps and drops. SRAM Truvativ Powerspline BB even has a sticker on it with that statement. This IXF BB probably wasn't built for the jumps you were doing, only XC type of riding.
Thanks man, did not know that at all. I wonder if/when IXF will start being sold with that sticker lol.
I can attest: an MT800 BB solved that problem for me.
MT800 is quality and affordable...
I’ve had a few of these the cranks are great but the bb could be better I repacked and replaced on two separate occasions
The bearings have no grease. Lift the seal off and pack with grease.
We did lift the seal off. Some of the balls were cracked, and there was still grease🤷♂️. It's hard to tell in the video, but they definitely weren't dry.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS real grease not that Vaseline they have in there
The crank is ok for its price, you'd need a better bottom bracket though. Maybe get am authentic Shimano bottom bracket.
You guys should review BOLANY Disc Brake Sets Oil Hydraulic MTB
title might be better if it read IFX BB failure. The crankset seems fine...just saying
That's understandable
Shit happens but mine is 3 years old , I have abused it with a passion and not a single hiccup. That thing is as tough as the DNM rear shock.
I bought a Shimano Saint BB (thinking it would be better than the ixf BB, it's pretty much the same) which is like top of the top of the line and it included plastic spacers. I don't use spacers on my GT Aggressor Pro though so it's no big deal for me.
Yooo cannondale bbs blow out three times as much with nowhere the abuse you put that thing through
🤣😆😆
pops needs to chill the %^*& out. I mean that in the kindest.
🤣🤣 With much respect right lol.
