I really loved this. I wish I knew more about woodworking because I really want to make a bunch of walnut and olive wood chopsticks. I prefer wood chopsticks over any other material because of it's superior grip 😊

I watched a begining of a few videos on how to make chopsticks before I got to yours, and at last a simple straight forward method very well put together. Thanks for sharing!

Nice Work Caleb! Always an impressive craftsman. Are you going to incorporate other skills ie- your leather work/metal work Or will this channel be strictly wood work?

I’ll have to see but I’m sure that it will be incorporated into a lot of the projects. Making a dining room light fixture right now that will have some metal in it.

Thank you! Curious if it is easy for the block plane to accidentally cut into the jig? Is this preventable or do you just have to be super careful once the blank gets close to flush with the jig?

As long is your plane is flat and the face of the jig is jointed it isn’t an issue. You also get into a groove and get used to how many strokes you need to get there. Just make sure to use some paste wax to help it slide easy, have fun!

Very nice! How did the glue hold up in the chopsticks? Did you notice any weakness?

Great so far! Made it through an accidental dishwasher cycle

@@calebaslor3701 man that’s awesome. I’ve recently gotten into making chopsticks. It’s so much fun. I’ve been thinking about doing some glue ups and inlays and stuff like that. Great vid

They look great, just minor criticism. I'd make your jig a couple inches taller and add a hole to the outer end so that you can attach a bench dog clamp to it, or i'd suggest securing it since it jumped around a bunch on you, but that's just me. Looks like it was all over the table for a second there. But still, nice and to the point jig and made sense. Thank you for your time making this.

    that red oak!

Well, I would have done it on a lathe. Convenient for me since I have 6 lathes.... I wouldn't use walnut though. Don't work it any more since it makes me sneeze and itch. I would want a lighter wood. Sugar maple maybe, or dogwood if you can get some. White oak maybe.
