- This episode we put up the Christmas tree with our one-year-old son and decorate the farmhouse for the holiday season. Work continues on our never-ending bedroom/bathroom renovation and I finally get to see the bedroom painted and start moving furniture in. I explore little Tuscan villages as they set up for Christmas and have a chat to you about the stress and joy of this season.

Every day I get so many emails and comments asking why you can’t locate the music I use or find it using Shazam. I purchase music licenses for almost all the music you hear in my videos. I buy them them from various royalty-free production music sites and most of the time they don’t list the performer because it’s music made only for film productions with an audio watermark throughout the entire track, unless you purchase the single-use license for $50-100 per track. I use a lot of opera so often I’ll reference the opera but I won’t be able to direct you to a recording of that specific performance that you could stream or buy on iTunes or Spotify. Hope that clears things up and thank you for appreciating quality music.

Kylie- Wow, episode 50. I remember when you were just starting on the pallaio. And like you had said, how far you have come in transforming the house. Not only the sitting room, but the pergola, the pool, the nursery, the bathroom, the kitchen. It is truly astounding what you have been able to bring into existence with your perseverance, hard work, while capturing it beautifully cinematically for us, AND getting married and having a baby! It is a beautiful season to reflect on our challenges and difficulties throughout 2023. Your encouragement to be kind to myself was what I needed to hear. I lost my beloved beautiful charming companion, my pet Husky girl (Xena) recently and it has been devastating 😢 to me. When you have shared over 10 years of 2 mile hikes everyday, tossing her favorite blue ball daily, endless trips to the park, road trips and so on, it really hurts. We all have different battles, so be kind to one another, especially to ourselves. I have been blessed beyond measure and know others are hurting this time of the year. Blessings to your lovely family.

Thank you for your final wise words. When I find myself resentful that others' lives look so much better than mine, I think of the people who need the services of the food pantry where I volunteer. To line up in the cold every week to receive a bag of groceries to feed your family must be very difficult indeed. Then I see clearly how lucky I am.
You are so right about the frustrations and time required to renovate a room. One day it is done and we reflect how it was all so worth it.
Also, the way you spoke about Guido made me think about my clinical experience of encountering so many people in the NHS seeking help for psychological difficulties only to transpire on closer examinations that they are struggling, for example, with undiagnosed and untreated symptoms of ADHD or some kind of neurodiversity.

Difficult pre-xmas party tomorrow with my partner’s family. I’m going to support my partner, but every time it kills abit of my spirit. I can’t change their behaviour, but I can at least be kind to myself and not think it’s my fault when they continually tell us how useless we are; I’ve painted my nails and looked out some nice clothes so at least I can look my best.
My family is very difficult to on my emotional state of being I just want to share with you you're not alone during the holidays and having a very difficult time.
You can feel pity that they need someone to tear down. Hope you got through it okay ❤

I was just diagnosed with Covid and I feel so icky. Fevers, upset tummy, missing family. But……. Also so grateful for what I do have. A roof over my head, food on my table, my beautiful fiancée. You have a small clip of a Christmas village which reminded me of a Buon Natale village my father built with the small paper houses when I was about your son’s age. He made a back drop of blue foil paper and inserted twinkling lights. It was magical but I had forgotten. Switching from carpet to hardwood was a battle with my father. He just didn't want change, couldn't picture it being better & healthier. Now he is happy with it. Your home is so special and all changes will be worth the effort!

Your vision for your home is always spot on! You are such a gift to your family and friends in creating a place to live and love. It is good for others to see you suffer the difficulties that others do; illness, crime, delays, things that don’t work the first time. Your persistence and hard work all these years have won you the life you have now.
My husband is similar, he doesn't want to do the work and is also a little afraid of change. I am a full life wife and Mama so I don't bring any money in either so it's a very fine balancing act to move things forward but without nagging.
Only 15 years into our marriage so still lots of learning ahead of me.

I agree with you. Every renovation project we have done has been at my nagging until he decides to get on board. Then he gets going on it and helps pick out things and is very happy with the final results. It is like pulling teeth though to get to the final stage.
It's nice to projects get close to completion, you feel like the hard work & inconvenience was worth it.

Hi again Kylie, This is my second comment but I wanted to thank you for what you said near the end of this video….that even though Christmas is usually a festive time with everyone “ happy and gay” and so “UP” -- I am so grateful that you and hopefully others recognize that many suffer. My 45 year old daughter ( who has lived with us all her life due to a physical disability). Was just diagnosed three months with cancer…an extremely rare and large mass. The infusions are difficult but Amy is doing OK through them . She is tougher than she looks and is the sweetest, kindness person who has the best smile ( like yours) and best hugs.
My husband and I are heartbroken and yet “ the most wonderful time of year” is upon us and we do really thank God for the birth and sacrifice of his Son….. for eternal life…. Yet this life is so very hard. Anyway. Sweet, thoughtful, Kylie, thank you for your kindness. 🥰

Kylie, the bedroom & bathroom colors make this dream-like! Please use the antique wardrobe to give a focal point to counter the fireplace. Use 2 matching chairs by the fireplace and 2 bedside nightstands with a drawer for personal effects. The closet should be for hanging clothes and an upper shelf for purses and such. Get an antique 3 or 4 drawer dresser for your lingerie. Those doors are stunning! Can't wait to see the final finished rooms. Bravo!
You know my husband was a contractor and our to do list was always on the back burner, until he went out of town for larger projects, then I went fully on 1000%of getting things done. Like yourself I have always been very handy and a DIYer… so enlisted outside help and got those big items done while he was gone. Actually ally so believe he knew everytime, that it would be done when he returned!!!

Kylie Darlin, you and your renovation projects have been my inspiration since I discovered you right after Covid started❣️❣️❣️. We are nearing the completion of our own newly built home, but I’ve copied as much as I could from your design sense. I wanted an Italian rustic farmhouse look, and you have given me the details I needed. Our wall colors are the same you have used in your bedroom/bathroom. I even was able to find the same tile you used as a backsplash in your bathroom, although I chose the alternate design in the same color. Our floors are not the same lovely terra cotta as you have, and of course we don’t have the fabulous patina of true antiques as you have there, but I did get a piattaio (sp?) in our kitchen and a demijohn lamp like you have in your salon!

Hello Kylie. I have been watching your videos for sometime now. You are doing a great job my dear. I have a son in law who is Italian and the things you mentioned about your husband about big things that have to be done in the house that my son in law too can’t seem to see it has to be done. So my daughter does get frustrated. I say to my daughter if you have to get it done just do it. If you have to wait for him the kids will be at university. I am being a bit dramatic. My daughter and her husband have a 4 year old girl and a 4 month old son. I am very lucky to have them live close by. We live in London. To enjoy them is so precious.

It takes a lot longer to make changes to the house than I expected when I first got married, but we’re both very happy with the changes we have made. Here still doing our own house rennovation. has taken a year longer than planned and we so wanted to have it done by christmas. Various stresses involved and we know it wont be done by then. The twin iron beds are an American Queen size. I found two similar ones and my US queen sheets fit it perfectly. The BR and Bath are looking so homey.
