We don’t have any issues with the DSG in our Taos SEL. Maybe it’s our experience with VW’s DSG in other cars we’ve owned, maybe it’s our history of driving manuals, no idea. VW did drop the ball with the DSG programming in the Taos replace to its other vehicles with the DSG, so I don’t know what they were thinking there. But anyway, replacing the DSG with a torque converter automatic is a smart move. Otherwise, we’ve had no issues with our Taos and it’s served us well.
You just can't beat a good old fashioned automatic transmission for smooth driving. I've never been impressed by dsg transmissions. First gear from a stop is always lagging, just when you really need to go like merging from a stop sign.
Funny, I have no issues with my 2024 Taos SE with the DCT. In town I just take off gently through the first two gears and after that it’s nice and smooth. Get it out of town and damn, that dual clutch is a blast to drive. I have to say, I’m not a fan of the updated look. I think the original was better looking. And having physical controls beat the pants off the new touch controls. And I HATE the new touch screen location. It looked much better integrated into the dash. I’ll reserve judgement on the engine improvements. We’ll see how it holds up.
I agree with the new transmission excitement! I work for a VW store and the current car is so jerky and terrible to drive that this should be a major update and make it feel like a new car.
My thoughts exactly. They fixed the inside and ruined the outside. I have a 2023 SEL and thought about trading it in for the smoother transmission, but it’s ugly.
The green is nice. I've been saying the way you compete with Tesla and other companies that offer few colors is to offer different ones. The HP and transmission improvement is huge. That's about the same HP as a Chevy Equinox and that's a much bigger vehicle.
This refresh looks great outside. I love that they're offering some fun colors. The interior is much improved, but that climate touch system is hot trash. Physical buttons are always better. Also hot trash is the 1.5L turbo engine that's been giving people problems for a few years now. Hopefully, VW fixed the issues.
Thinking about HR-V, Ford Escape or Tiguan from 2013. None of the elements of this 2025 Taos seem different from any of those 10+ year old car. Only benefits of buying it is its warranty and mileage.
Hybrid engine or plugin hybrid no… why VW don’t offer the same solution of the Europe market in the US??? I’m Italian but I see a lot difference in US market,in Europe you can order and add everything,in US sensor parking you found only in the top trims of The various brand and in the best case!
Taos was launched in China back in 2018 as the Volkswagen Tharu, so yes it is a Chinese market VW. It was introduced in North America for the 2022 model year as the VW Taos and replaced the standard MK7.5 Golf here (Big mistake). The Taos is sold in Asia, China, North, Central and South America. It is also manufactured in Argentina.
That radio.lokks right out of an old rav 4 . The old interior was way more integrated. This looks like shit and so does that ugly front end..stop trying to make everything look like your electric cars
I rather not. I don’t understand the hate the MIB3 8 inch infotainment gets. Works perfectly fine in my Arteon and looks integrated into the dashboard. Non distracting, and doesn’t become the center piece of the interior. It sound like you like your 55+ inch glued on tablets instead😂 of
here's a human response: VW is excited their 1.5T can output 174hp/184ftlbs and get 36mpg highway. Nissan Rogue's 1.5T can output 201hp/225ftlbs and in a larger heavier vehicle gets 37mpg highway.
@@BoopSnootThat’s because Nissan’s 1.5T has variable compression and a bigger turbo, it also has a CVT rather than the 8 speed in the Taos and the Rogue is only about 200~ pounds heavier than the Taos so yes it gets better fuel economy but again, the Rogue has the advantage of the CVT which makes a huge difference
@@niftytechnology7688 25 Equinox 1.5t fwd cvt is same size as Rogue and rated 28mpg highway and makes 175hp/187ftlbs. point is Nissan makes the best 1.5t right now.
I know several people that own one of these, had nothing but problems, one of them has been driving a loaner for almost 3 months now since they can find parts for it.
Did VW go to the old parts bin for the radio. I had that in my 7 year old GTI
Yeah, probably if it ain't broke, don't fix it.😊
$24k starting
For 26k USD... You only get a basic Golf for that money in Europe.
They sure did
It isn’t the same MIB infotainment you had in your 2016 or 2017 GTI. This is the MIB3 latest iteration from 2022 and works great.
The green one looks pretty good.
bring back the 1.8T golf wagon awd.

I miss my 2012 Jetta Sportwagon. Loved that car, but my wife kept hitting curbs with it. Got her an H3.

I like they got rid of the DCT, and added more power, but it's not as attractive anymore. They ruined the front.

Old model had a better looking then new for me 😃

Nice colors. Under hood needs a buffer for sound dampening and don’t like digital cockpit! Why oh why does everyone need digital. Analog is fine.
Can you confirm the led light bar is present on the front of both the SEL and SE Black?
Looks nice but not up to the new 2025 Tiguan level.
Love my 24 Taos SEL!
i hate all the blank spaces around gear shifter on VW, makes me feel like i didnt pay enough for features.
Is it true to get independent rear suspension you must get AWD
Geez that radio is old i have it in my 2017 jetta

i didnt know there was a correct side to fill gas.
@9:52 Tommy ain't slick
Event should have been in Taos New Mexico
