Media: kills debate formula.
Also Media: Who killed the debate formula? The new one sucks!
*shoots debate formula*
How could Millenials do this?
Yeah, absolutely. It's only media's fault for that candidates have a nasty behavior and insult directly each other.
This comment is kinda the problem.
Blaming the media is a way of deflecting from the fact that the consumers are the problem. They've become more radical and more polarised.
The media meets the demand.
They could cut the mic when debaters go off the rails.
And the media could report without bias instead of being so brazenly partisan and beholden to obvious corporate interests.
The media has a LOT of responsibility for the polarization and extremism in ideology these days. It’s your fault NYT.
It is the fault of Fox News
Thank you. It's literally only the media's fault
I find it hilarious that a company driven by drama is complaining about it. You take the drama way, you're left with a blank front page from the NYT.
American brain rot spreading worldwide, Sad to see
Yeah sure, not the utterly unhinged reality tv show star-turned president, Donald trump…
People never want to take responsibility for anything these days. Polarisation isn’t the fault of the media; people wanting everything to be sensational is the root cause. People voted trump because he was entertaining, loud and charismatic; not because his ideas were even remotely good.

Jimmy Carter would always refer to his opponent as “My distinguished opponent.” Always very respectful.
That’s why he’s the longest living ex-president and will hold that record for generations to come. The scary part is if he were 10 years younger he’d still be more competent to run the country than that degenerate that’s responsible for January 6th.

Bingo
Okay but any other presidential candidate didn't run their mouths nearly as much or continually spout easily disproven "facts" over and over again. I'm not for any candidate but you can't honestly tell me he didn't deserve that.
Every presidential candidate is subject to scrutiny from the media and from political opponents, and if there's anything to criticize, then it will be exposed and criticized. The difference with Trump was that there is SO much genuinely wrong with him. If the media appeared to "jump on his back way more than any other presidential candidate", it's because they had good reason to. And now, even more so.

What this clip overlooks is how much the parties themselves drifted apart over those decades, with identity politics and culture wars meaning that whatever little was still in common amongst the parties being eclipsed by the gulfs - and worsening attitudes - between the sides in question
When your very identity is, rightly or wrongly, viewed by the other side as being inherently immoral or a threat to the nation's existence, decorum becomes an unaffordable extravagance that is detrimental to looking after the very well-being, let alone mere interests, of the people whose votes you represent
