I like the brand Zoeller, but the switches fail and the pump won't shut off. They make replacement parts for the float switch, but if it is allowed to run dry because they won't shut-off, replacing the switch is mute. However, this is a good pump, and I use them in my home. I have a high water alarm just in case. Take Care!
Is that the same kind of pump I could use to catch and remove the water that puddles up in front of my garage? Great video by the way. I specially like how you told the guy "hold on let me finish my video" ha ha ha! I hope it wasn't the customer!
good vid on the pump replacement.. I got to share my experience and what we do ( only way we doin new construction now),, if area requires a sump pump and pit, we mandantory install two now in new construction, motor controlled to alternate pump motors and cylcles.. saves a lot of flooding.. saves wear and tear on pumps..Sort of like a belt and suspenders insurance.. Anyway back to your vid,, perfect,, the one brick height is perfect elevation and leaves plenty of space"down under" I bet some "know it alls" are gonna say "steve didnt replace that old milk crate with a bonafide sump casting,, well BS.. not a damned thing wrong with the crate, Hey it beats a lot I have saaw these pumps just sitting half buried in the mud and gunk,, you doing a good replacement here, without costing the homeowner an arm and a leg.. Good work well done. Using that rubber repair coupling makes good sense,, really the best way to install, the pumps need the torque and vibration protection for the pipes,, just the best practice to install. Again, great job I would like to se the (3) three thumbs down comments so I could give em hell, not nothing to bitch about in this vid at all. That purple cleaner is mandatory in our area with code inspectors, they just want to see the shit.. Biut I am with you, it looks trashy as hell, especially on exposed piping. Now I do not understand not using the check valves,, are you omitting tthe check so when winter comes, water will not remain standing the the disharge riser?.. thumbs up
+nate yes if i use a check on this job the water in pipe would freeze and split the pvc pipe so no check valve for this job ..its dry down there the pump will only work in a heavy rain fall . so most of the years ins a dry pit. we all know were the 3 thumbs down come from . biggest troll on youtube
+Ryan Losinger ya i was surprised the milk crate worked the holes are a bit big and let to much debree into pit .but i guess it will work for a while seeing i raised it up
some inspectors/townships require purple primer so they can visually see that the pipe has been primed ... seen many of empty and wholey buckets used for crocks ... might be a first on the milk crate ... next level momma!
No check valve on the discharge line or anything...nicely done so that way water can backflow into the pump and flood the basement lol For anyone watching, you always need a check valve either where the discharge line connects into the pump itself or somewhere on the discharge line otherwise water can and will backflow into the pump, causing it to work improperly and in return flooding your basement or crawlspace, wherever you have your sump pump located.
+08OviFan this house gets winterized !!!!!!!! so i left the check valve out so things do not freeze!!!!!!! i said that in the video if you would leason maybe you would of herd it being said
hi steve, i have to use purple primer so inspection can identify its been primed, purple leaves a dirty mess but in some areas its mandatory. i installed a few 1/2 hp zollers in the past have you had any float switch problems i ran into some here switched to rigid or little giant if its a tight space just curious
+Bill Weyhmiller some times older pumps will have issues with the switches i have tryed to replace switches on older pumps ,with limited sucess so not i just put in a new pump easyes and safest way.and its done
my problem with purple cleaner is if you spill or drip a little bit it is impossible to get off. The clear just evaporates unless its a painted surface or laminate flooring or something than your screwed either way. Really stupid requirement considering the plumber is liable for any leaks he might have anyways.
That's not what I meant, that's a slump pump to get rid of the water ok what if there's so much water hat it backs up back into the house ! That's were the back flow preventer comes into play.
Cleaner is not the same thing as primer; Oatey says this in their FAQs. I think they have the same ingredients but the cleaner has different proportions of it and it is weaker. You should be using Clear Primer.
yeah of course. cleaner is very similar to primer so thats why it works but you should just know it isn't the same. the manufacturer doesn't recommend using cleaner instead of primer. just because it works doesn't mean it is right. but it's fine, it's mostly the same stuff, so no big deal.
Hey I discovered the ingredients of primer and cleaner. Primer contains Acetone, Cyclohexanone, Tetrahydrofuran, and Methyl ethyl ketone. Cleaner only contains Acetone and Cyclohexanone. As you can see, the Primer has two more ingredients than the Cleaner, so Primer and Cleaner are NOT the same. Before I thought they had the same ingredients because someone said they did, but actually Primer has two more ingredients.
But, Oatey Purple Primer and Cleaner has the same two ingredients as Cleaner, but not the extra two ingredients Primer has. But it can be used as a Primer because it's Primer/Cleaner. So I suppose that means it is ok to use Cleaner as a Primer. weird stuff

+TheHobbyShopFilms i have had no luck with zoeller replacement swithes best to just install a new pump

+The Air Conditioning Guy he was the mantainace guy for the complexe good friend of mine
Does the Zoeller require a vent hole? I didn't see you add one
very good work steve!!!
+George Siatos thanks for commenting

+Ryan Losinger ya i was surprised the milk crate worked the holes are a bit big and let to much debree into pit .but i guess it will work for a while seeing i raised it up
Beautiful video Steve.
+Gabriel Bumbar thanks
some inspectors/townships require purple primer so they can visually see that the pipe has been primed ... seen many of empty and wholey buckets used for crocks ... might be a first on the milk crate ... next level momma!

+Dwight Bennett it works fine i went back yesterday to winterize the house and filled the pit with water she pumped out nicely
I always put the hole on the pipe .No check valve ??
I know why you didn't use the check valve 👍🏽
+Jorge A this pump does not require a drain hole .
No check valve in winterization home situation. Great video, Steven.
+Randy Kocian on this job it makes sense
Nice job. I have a zoeller (actually two) in my basement. Can't beat em.

Here in AZ they require purple primer so inspector can see it. Always a nasty joint with purple primer. Great video
+Dunn Plumbing llc i am glad my state does not
purple colour for inspector that you use the right glue
+Donald Hawkes you can see clear cleaner also if you look

professional plumber
+Danil Botnaru thanks for the comment
Here in Carolina it's code to use purple primer. It can make a messy job if not careful. I hate it but the inspectors look for it.
nice job, not a big fan of zoeller, i am a liberty pump guy myself, great vid Steve
+Vinny Trocino i have tryed both i would pick the zoeller over a liberty .but liberty uses less amps .but zoello pumps more water
Ha.. First video, second talking... Ready for the rain. Nice job, Steve
+gekkedirkie thanks for watching & commenting
That camera is outdated just like those Zoellers.
hi steve, i have to use purple primer so inspection can identify its been primed, purple leaves a dirty mess but in some areas its mandatory. i installed a few 1/2 hp zollers in the past have you had any float switch problems i ran into some here switched to rigid or little giant if its a tight space just curious

Nice job Steve. I was informed that they require purple primer to "ensure primer was used "
+L Keyser i always use primer and clear is what this pipe calls for not purple ..
That the pipe calls for???? Roflmfao
Some local codes want to see Purple because inspector know it was glued, or at least touched and not forgotten about
my problem with purple cleaner is if you spill or drip a little bit it is impossible to get off. The clear just evaporates unless its a painted surface or laminate flooring or something than your screwed either way. Really stupid requirement considering the plumber is liable for any leaks he might have anyways.
+emutiny i agree clean primer should be used on white pipe .
zoeller sump pump m57 is it a good pump
Steve zoeller sump pump m57 is it a good pump
+scorpoin Gomez yes very good pump
I enjoyed this one Steve...I'm always learning...
+hllywd964 thanks for the support
Good job.
Another great video, keep them coming Steve. Next level, mama!
+gravis346 lol mama would be proud
The reason some states have you use the "purple Cleaner" so they know the Plumber didn't do a hack job.
No backflow preventer? installed.
+TermitesRGood1 no check because this house will be winterized ,and i don;t want the water to freeze in pipe .i said that in the video
That's not what I meant, that's a slump pump to get rid of the water ok what if there's so much water hat it backs up back into the house ! That's were the back flow preventer comes into play.
thanks Steve
Nice, neat work. Have you ever installed one of the water powered backup pumps?
+bg147 yes i have only on a few jobs because of the ammout of water they use .only for emergcy reasions
i'll tell ya steve , that purple cleaner makes a flippin mess under bathroom vanities you got to be very carefull with that purple shit , I hate it
+jack thompson i never use it ,i use the clear .
Zoller makes a nice pump better then that Home CheepO crap.
+Dan C. yes for sure
Cleaner is not the same thing as primer; Oatey says this in their FAQs. I think they have the same ingredients but the cleaner has different proportions of it and it is weaker. You should be using Clear Primer.
i have no issues with stuff i use . it works well for me with no problems .i will continue to do what i have been doing and use the same stuff
yeah of course. cleaner is very similar to primer so thats why it works but you should just know it isn't the same. the manufacturer doesn't recommend using cleaner instead of primer. just because it works doesn't mean it is right. but it's fine, it's mostly the same stuff, so no big deal.
