Probably the best track in the game. From 2:26 onwards its the most "shit just got real" moment in video game music history... and from there just gets more and more epic. Great game. Great soundtrack. Perfect Dark and GoldenEye 007 on the N64 - the grand fathers of console FPS.
"What do you want? I've just cleaned up, so don't make a mess!" If you're going to be a dick, I ain't saving you when Datadyne comes barging in a couple of levels later.
I always thought Perfect Dark was GoldenEye's little brother that had so much talent and potential, but nobody payed attention to it because they were too amazed with big bro GoldenEye's talents. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, this game is so much better than GE, but people were so busy playing GE that they never noticed this awesome masterpiece. :/
Man I still play this game. Sometimes I get in my zone and vibe to the instrumentals. This game goes hard otherwise and for this to be a cartridge game at that.....RareWare
This game reminds me of my big brother Andrew I used to watch him play this all the time when I was a kid now I'm 26 and I be crying but VIBING to this hard ass track just like that good old days! That's how magical this game is for me long live Drew! QX14EVER big bro Perfect Dark4ever FPS games for life love you bro I'll never put the sticks down till the very last breath💯
Some say its a charm that PD has, some say its the music, some say its the weaponry, but the reason why PD is so unique and fun is something that cannot be described.
No other game has enemies reacting to getting shot like Perfect Dark. They would limp around if you shot them in the leg or hold their arm. I think F.E.A.R. did the same thing.
@@roetemeteor Actually I think GoldenEye's guards were much more realistic because they had tons of unique animations. If you shoot a guard in the neck, they'll grab at their neck and slowly drop to the ground and die. If you shoot a guard in the arm, they'll be stunned for a moment and grab their arm. Perfect Dark did something similar but I think GoldenEye just has more variety.
i read about an even sillier trick: go down to the bottom floor and you can find a floating box (like in area 51 pt. 2). drag it up to the shooting gallery, bring it inside, start up the throwing knives challenge, then throw knives at the box instead of the target! then when the challenge ends, you can pick up the knives and carry them anywhere in the institute and throw them at anyone!
I miss owning my N64. I’m 35 years old now and have fond memories of playing Perfect Dark endlessly as a kid! Memories of playing the combat simulator with friends and bots was very fun. I will cherish those memories forever :)
Being the Goldeneye fan that I am, I thought no FPS could ever top it, but over a month ago, I decided to play Perfect Dark for the first time, and since then, I've come to realise that PD is better than Goldeneye 007 because it has all the elements that made Goldeneye so great, and yet it builds so much more on to it. It is now my all-time favourite FPS!
Sucks you never got to play it until recently, I think all of us agreed it was better than goldeneye in every way (apart from that broken sniper rifle that could see through walls .... and still track you -_-). It even had goldeneye weapons and levels that were enhanced like being able to jump down the Hole in Aztec. I guess goldeneye was just more iconic. Out of curiosity which one did you play? I heard the 360 port of perfect dark N64 was amazing.
I personally think it's the style of movement and shooting. Slippery, fast and circle-strafey (At least in the XBLA rerelease). Lots of today's FPS games have super-quick deaths, and an emphasis on cover. Shooters like PD and Timesplitters were more active and dynamic.
When I hear this song, I remember the old days as a kid, when you don't worry about anything and the only thing you wanna do is play in your Nintendo 64
Was 17 when this came out, short while later parents on summer holiday taking the little sister with them. 3-4 Friends living at the house for those 3 weeks, tons of weed, N64 constantly on with perfect dark, parties, more parties, going on ICQ on Windows 98, a/s/l. My band having practice every day in my garage. Having a glass of sherry with the old lady a few doors down when she came to tell us to turn it down and it goes to her head and she ends up telling us about her antics when she was our age and just makes us promise to shutup by 6pm Another world I feel so sorry for the kids the same age 2008+
For a while, this tune was just stuck in my head as a long lost memory…but now, after many many years of just humming it so I can try to remember the game title, I finally found it. 😌💫
This brings me good memories playing with my brother, i don't know how much time i spent in this game but it surely a lot! I still have my N64 and the catridge, i have to play this amazing game again!
That's part of it, but other games I played back then on the 64 wouldn't be nearly as nostalgic as PD if I play them now. PD has to be the most unique 64 game ever.
Même sans avoir joué au jeu pendant 4 ans, je me rappelle toujours et encore de cette musique. Musique immortelle comme "Stickerbush symphony" de Donkey Kong Country 2. Merci pour la video.
i remember working my ass off getting gold medals with all the weapons. that took some skill, especially with a 64 controller =p. the good ol days indeed. this game took up alot of my childhood =p
***** Yah, your right. If you ask me..it goes like this...in many ways the game was centered on its fps experience...but it didn't leave u feeling that was ALL it was about...the use of gadgets was amazing.....I mean hell at some points I even felt like I was trying to solve a difficult puzzle. Imo, nothing exemplifies this more then figuring out how to destroy the kill-bot in the Chicago level. Now this track in particular really brings back memories, I spent so much time in the firing range fooling around and trying for all the medals on the training target practice. I remember when i finally got all the Medals, good times. I miss PD :(
