Haven’t had any issues yet, my barrel is pretty shaded. I would imagine ACV would likely help if that starts to happen. Another option would be a splash of bleach. Most municipal water supplies have a smidge of bleach, and even my water softener system adds a very small amount (we are on a well with very hard water), so I wouldn’t be concerned giving it to the chicks.
This is excellent. The only thing I would add is an inline filtration system. This is what I would like to do. Thanks for the video.
Awesome video. Such a cool idea!
Well done sir.
❤ SUBSCIBED ❤
How long can the water be in the barrel before it's too stale for them?
What is the sizing of the pvc? I’m definitely making this!
I used 3”, and I wouldn’t go any smaller.
How do you keep the water from freezing during the winter season?
Well down better Florida (zone 9), I don’t really have to worry about that.
You could try a live stock heater in the winter though perhaps
Thanks so much & thank your for your helpful content!
This is perfect! I’ve been looking for this exact set up! Do you add acv or anything to keep the water from getting slimy or anything?

Red Beard Homestead good point. We are on a well too. Our weather is just so hot I worry about stuff growing. Haha
