I just love Michael Stirrup. Great announcing voice combined with a wonderful style. When the announcers of this era say 'goodnight', I get the impression they actually mean it. He may be gone but sites like this keep the memory of these announcers alive forever.

Ironically the housing estate being built in the film Blow Up, where he drives past in the car, has now been demolished. I lived on the Morris Walk Estate for the first six years of my life (1985-1991). The council wanted to get rid of the park in the film (think they wanted to put more housing there as well) but the residents in the surrounding area said no and managed to save Maryon Wilson Park thankfully. The tennis courts featured in the film are not there anymore. It's just a huge open green now. All change lol

Been going through some old Betamax tapes, and on one of them it says "King of the Rocket Men" on the label dated March 1981. Would loved to digitise and upload any continuity that maybe with it if only I could get the damn machine to work as it stopped working a week after I bought off ebay a few years ago lol; I've been told it's either the power unit or something to do with the PCB board, probably cost a fortune to get fixed. I have lots of early recordings, the earliest I've found so far from March 1980s of a showing of Diamonds on ITV which will know doubt include the ads and maybe In-visions and trails.

Snap I remember being freaked out a one point because he's in a clinic and discovers a man who has the body of a pig all very weird. This was the age when a generation of kids grew up watching late night films on BBC2 for lots of reasons.

_Blow-Up_ was the film that shocked Hollywood and led to what is remembered as the New Hollywood Movement. MGM released it under a pseudonym called Premier Productions in 1966 and 1967 and gave the last of the messages to the world that started with _The Man with the Golden Arm_ by Otto Preminger in the mid-'50s that the Production Code's day was over. The rating system was born within two years.
And, in my honest opinion, it's overdue for reform, on a level not seen in decades.
