Helen Tucker I grew up in the new church and started questioning everything when I got to high school. Sure religion gives hope to people when faced with the horror of life but it’s all nonsense written by primitive people.

For those of us who have mingled in the light of unconditional love we live the instinct of love in a divine way for those minutes or seconds. We sense the presence of Jesus. We see in the deeds of Jesus serving others and asking nothing in return, and judging nobody he healed. We realise the same instinct that all people desire to be loved.
Swedenborg is saying exactly what is in the message Jesus brought for all Mankind to share.
There are many accounts that share similar divine moments now as technology enables it to be shared. People always have had divine moments but had no way to share it with others. This is why many lifelong 'bad' people discover the presence of God and His truth in times of adversity and change their ways. Their old 'friends' tend to ridicule them forever afterwards.
'Swedenborg had a platform of authority and respect already in his community. That made it possible for him to share.

Thank you Swedenborg foundation for bringing us such enriching content for our minds and souls as we progress on our earthly journeys during our lives.
NDErs agree that the afterlife is way more real than being here on planet earth is. Also that children do grow older in heaven and adults are in their prime again, around 30 years old. They agree that LOVE is the essence of All. 💖

Recently I have discovered four people within my circle who have had near death experiences. I read up on the phenomenon and discovered the Penrose Hameroff theory of quantum consciousness. It fits well with Swedenborg's ideas. Penrose and Hameroff could turn out to be the Crick and Watson of the soul and help make the afterlife more accessible to everyone which I think would be good for the planet. You can find Hameroff on You Tube.

He shares God and the message of Jesus with you. Church denominations tend to preach down at us. He does not.
It is not his concept. We find God in service to others. As Jesus shows us. As He did.
All of us who have had similar divine encounters have witnessed the unconditional love that Swedenborg talks about.
When you accept Jesus Christ as your saviour and the Holy Spirit as your teacher then the research begins through prayer. And you discover your own reborn relationship with the divine nature of God.
John 16...12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”

This comes from Doctrine and Covenants section 76, beginning in verse 49 it is a record of an experience both Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon claimed to have had in February 1832. It describes the three levels of heaven or "Three Degrees of Glory" as the doctrine is known today in Mormon teaching.

Tin Man, thanks again for sending the link. I read the bit you linked to. I've also read the Doctrine and Covenants in its entirety (years ago), and I've read a bit of Swedenborg (working on Heaven and Hell now), but I don't yet know either source well enough to see the connection you're making very clearly. Also, to be perfectly honest, I would need a bit of help before I could take Joseph Smith seriously enough to look into it myself. Perhaps you could lay the connection out a bit for me? And maybe you could also say something about the importance of the three-degrees-of-glory doctrine in contemporary Mormonism?

Jonathan : fascinating as always . The Truth , as ever , seems to lie just beyond ourlimited horizon . Perhaps as it should be ?I'm struck by the similarities between Swedenborg and William Blake . Was Blakefamiliar with Swedenborg's writings I wonder .? Many thanks Jonathan . I'm sure you are
inundated with questions of this type .
Having said that I intend to presume on your patience one more time : I'm sure you are familiar with the name and writings of
Black Elk ? Were you struck by the parallels with Biblical iconography .?
The coming of a Messiah / the idea of a Heaven and so on . Were those beliefs
simply absorbed / adopted from Christian
missionaries ? Filtered , unwittingly , through the well meaning Niemann .
Or , do they rather reflect the Universality
      of Swedenborg's spiritual insight .
I realise that this is perhaps a subject more suited to a PH D thesis but will be
more than happy with the briefest of .answers. Very much obliged .

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi, this is Karin this time, since Jonathan is mostly quite busy with translating and preparing for the show. I haven't read the writings of Black Elk, but they certainly could reflect the universality of the concepts. Swedenborg learned that there was what he called an "Ancient Word," long before the current Bible was written, that carried the same themes and predictions in different symbolic language. He learned that the symbolism, themes and stories from this "Ancient Word" then splintered off into various world mythologies, religions and spiritual traditions, so that would include Native American spirituality. And those themes could certainly also come through into visions of people over time, since the information ultimately comes from the spiritual realm. I think you're right: to really dig into all the comparisons might best be done in a PhD thesis!

I will forgive you for not knowing this. It is written in the Stone Sumerian Text. At the time of the great flood-deluge, it tells that when the waters came, brought on by the polar ice caps shift, our ancestor's creator Lord Enki was in a submarine while this was going on over 200,000 years before the Bible came about even. The others were in spacecraft watching from above.
A few made it to high land so here we are. Try the Lost books of Enki, Epic of Gilgamesh, Enuma Elish to name a few. They came way before this guy Swedenborg. The problem with this is, he was before modern day man found the tablets. So Swedenborg was going on his own experiences, which is what we all have, our own.
IF you want proof of reincarnation I suggest you watch Alba Weiman's hypnosis sessions. She has over 200 and I have a couple of sessions of my own.
I have an experience of a past life with a man now called Ryan Brown in this life that I can not have a relationship with. I know I need to do a video about it to educate people. How I found that guy and it lead to having 4 past lives with him and just knowing him in this one and the reason I can't be with him today. Once I understood why, it was alright to go on alone without him.
Remember as the Higher Self beings or Watchers in the Bible say is 'Remember that it is the Spirit within you know, not the person Ryan Brown. It tells all the reason you connect to someone and for some reason that I have found out why, you can't have any contact with the person, their spirit knows.
I put my sister under hypnosis. I asked her Higher Self to allow me to speak to Ryan's spirit. I found a connection a year before with this very young man 30 years younger than myself. So now I would get to the bottom of how I knew him. The spirit told me about 3 other lives I had with him.
This life when we were 6, he died of Small pox or Polio. On the the other side he could not make a life plan with me as I wasn't there to agree to anything. It took me some time to realize that.
He did make it where I could see major part of his life, his graduation from High School broad cast on the internet. I felt real excited by this, but still did not have him in my life. The feelings of the past are still there, but your memories are erased, only the spirit knows them. The human has a new mind each time.
I believe that he set it up so I would know he was here. But he could not tell me physically. His mind did not know me. Only his spirit. I can't be in his life this time because I might interfere with his new life plan. Being we were very close in those past lives he would listen to me and not his self when deciding things that are in his present life plan. So Have to stay out of it this time.
Anyway I need to do the video about it. 'Searching for Ryan Brown'. IF anyone is interested in this just keep watching for it. I am not well. I have fibromyalgia and can only work on things when I am well.

Yay! Finally, a Bible foundation thingy which doesn't give itself little supporting evidence! Thugh I was more fascinated on Swedenborg and his part played in this, envisioning an eternal world beyond this one, I still felt like saying "alright, alright, pause right there. how will the Muslims and many others feel about this? like atheists being greeted by angels...don't you think we should get all sides of the afterlife theories sussed out?"

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye 6 ปีที่แล้ว

We're so glad that you feel intrigued by the role Swedenborg has played, and the information he wrote about!
I (Karin) have recently been talking with someone who considers himself a Swedenborgian Muslim, so though Swedenborg uses Christian terminology and the Bible, there is also plenty in his materials that relate well to the deeper concepts of many different world religions and spiritual philosophies. And Swedenborg saw good people from all different religions being guided to heaven. As for atheists, Swedenborg witnessed that it's a person's heart and intentions that determine what will happen for them after death. A person may rebel against the idea of God because they didn't like the particular concept they were taught. But if that person focuses and acts on goodness, integrity, compassion, and service, he or she is actually connecting with God, and will recognize the real God after death as the source of what has been important to them. It makes me think of the parable in Matthew 21:29-31. God is less concerned with the earthly beliefs that people declare, and more concerned with what they actually do with their lives. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).
We're here to offer Swedenborg's accounts into the greater conversation, and we hope each person will compare and contrast what he reports with other accounts of the afterlife. We want everyone to think over for themselves what makes sense, and what resonates!

I have read the first 3 books featured in this video. Swedenborg is an author that has to be read slowly; each paragraph requires some reflection and meditation before moving on... but the rewards are tremendous! Swedenborg illuminates the Bible like nobody else. You are led to discover the profound depths of spiritual truth contained within God's Word, enabling you to accurately perceive the sources of good and evil both within yourself and in the world around you. It is Christianity in it's deepest, most profound form.

Every human soul makes a contribution to our society in one way or another -- each leaves part of himself or herself, and when one of us goes to the trouble of documenting his or her studies, interests, experiences, understanding, wisdom, it makes sense that we might benefit to read what such people leave behind. Swedenborg had a huge influence on Helen Keller and his writings were to bring much light and hope into Helen's dark and silent world as she had became both blind and deaf at the tender age of 19 months. Helen grew into a beautiful, well balanced and very caring lady who wrote over 12 books and who was to encourage many handicapped people to see their own self worth and their special relationship with an Eternal, Loving God.

It is largely because he was critical of the church. His father was the Bishop of Scara, the same bishop who was the head of the Lutheran Church in the USA, and Emmanuel pointed out their errors. Swedenborg called the catholic church a false church, and he also was forthright in his analysis of many denominations that were prominent at his time - the mid 1700's.

Maybe under Divine Providence it has been given a low profile for its own protection. Swedenborg said it would definitely become big but it would take some time. He cited the first Christian church as an example of how long it could take, and that was 300 years while suffering a lot of persecution. He also said that the doctrines of the first Christian church would have to be removed from the minds of people before the ideas in his writings could be properly received there. This has only just, in these last few years, come about. All the young generations of people since the 1960's have declined to accept and commit to traditional Christian teachings and this means virtually all the older, traditionally Christian people from before that time are now dead. So, it's only now, for the first time, that Swedenborg's precondition for his writings to flourish has come into being. We may soon see his writings become widely accepted.

Journalists have been blinded to the many scriptures that have been cloned by political theories of Mankind, yet applied with ugliness instead of love. Communism for instance....19. 1 Corinthians 3:8 “Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.” and the Article 1 of Human Rights ... that took men 1948 to make a law of Earth. Article 1.
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. …27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.…

To people of "alternative" or "new age" faiths or whatever: "Swedenborgianism" is nothing if not Christianity. Swedenborg was, first and foremost, and very much so, a CHRISTIAN. It's not a "new" Christianity (although the movement is referred to as such), it's not a "different" Christianity, it's not a "secret" or "occult" Christianity or anything weird like that. It's CHRISTIANITY.
To rabid, intolerant, close-minded "Christian" fundies: 'First and foremost, we need to know who the God of heaven is, since everything else depends on this. Throughout the whole of heaven, no one is acknowledged as God of heaven except THE LORD'. That's "Heaven and Hell", chapter 1, part 1, first sentence. "Midmost", "pivotal", and "extolled" enough for you?

Exactly! Well said man! When people say 'it's not Christianity its a new faith and you can't have new Christian faiths' are just hypercritical seeing as most of them would be Protestant which in the 15 century was new faith lol! Even Catholicism isn't the original form of Christianity, it was altered centuries later by the Romans to form Catholicism as we know. A lot of these people who comment have the same sectarian mindsets some had in the 16th century which lead to Catholics and protestants killing each other as heretics, and what exist's to this day in Ulster.

He sounds like an admirable intellect and even like a likable person, but all these elaborate theological and metaphysical claims are not supported by any evidence at all. A spiritual epiphany does not count as evidence because religious people all over the planet constantly experience spiritual epiphanies that contradict each other. High intelligence does not guarantee sanity of mind. Swedenborg's brain was almost certainly fried and so seem to be the brains of most commenters under this video after one takes a quick look. In addition to this, the willingness to defend a dogma to death - any dogma - is a clear lack of critical thinking. What one should do instead is keep an open and flexible mind. Reality is immensely difficult to understand. Humanity's understanding is progressing with baby steps.

Emmanuel Swedenborg is the most important human in my life. I have learned so much from this man. It took me many years to read 'Arcana Coelestia', and it was like digging for diamonds in hard rock deep underground. But, after getting my first gem, the size of a golf ball, I have filled my little bucket to overflowing, not only with diamonds, but rubies, emeralds, sapphires and gems that I didn't even know existed. Now, I know that if I pick up my little pick, bucket and miners head lamp, I can go back into the mine, and get another truckload that I missed the first time. This is a very reassuring prospect. 'True Christian Religion' is a must read for anyone who loves the Lord, and every book that I have read by Emmanuel has been rewarding beyond words to tell. I believe he is a modern shaman, a spiritual discerner of great skill.

Who do you think he was as a Spirit? Just another gift from God as the Bible was for the time? At each of individual period of these two, what amazes me is the fact that people in those period were not geared to really understand, but smart enough to leave nice traces for us to find, or remember. You are also one of them by giving us the privilege of learning as new the so many infinity in the
simple Word of God, thank you for permitting me to renew with God inside myself.

I personally think that Swedenborg was not anyone inherently special apart from perhaps being the most intelligent non-divine human being of all time (He's been mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records as being the person who perhaps had the highest IQ of all time). That the revelation given by God through him was supposed to be the ultimate explanation of Truth for Humanity, and that humanity had now reached its adult ability to understand everything to do with spirituality, would suggest it was now feasible that an sufficiently intelligent person of that time was capable of fully understanding and explaining it to others through his own natural intelligence. God would not now have to resort to using a human being purely as a instrument through which he would have to dictate his message, as in previous ages. Still, Swedenborg did say that God had to fill the person doing this job with his Spirit in order for it to happen. And this would mean, according to Swedenborg's own writings, that he would have had to have been personally regenerated. There's plenty in his Journal of Dreams and throughout his writings to suggest this was the case.
So basically what I'm saying is that God explained the information to Swedenborg, and Swedenborg, who understood it both intellectually and spiritually, then passed it on.

Why isn't Swedenborg better known? He clearly describes the thousands and thousands of NDE's that people have been telling for years and are now being mass published? This is it. Swedenborg is a true prophet

Hi Jessica! This is a question that is asked a lot! We have a short video with our panel that discusses why Swedenborg isn't better known: th-cam.com/video/Hle_0cLbCJQ/w-d-xo.html
