What is full shade One side of my 2 storey house has full sun from morning till evening. Is that full sun? One side is hid from the sun from morning till evening. Is that full shade or low light or indirect sunlight? I have carport in the middle of my yard, it casts shade all day, I can still see and read under it when I lie down there out of sun. Is that full shade indirect sunlight or? I have a windowless fibro shed, I can still clearly see my way round in the daytime. Is that fullshade low light or indirect sunlight?
Simple Definitions of Light Level 🌞✨👌 ✔️ Full sun means that the sun is out for at least 6 hours a day. ✔️ Part sun: 4 to 6 hours of direct sun a day, including some afternoon sun. ✔️ Part shade: 4 to 6 hours of direct sun a day, mostly in the morning. ✔️ Full shade means that you get less than 4 hours of direct sun a day.
*Full sun* means that you get at least six hours of direct sunlight every day. If you live in a new neighborhood with few trees or in a rural area with few trees, your garden may not get any shade at all during the day. Maybe your front porch faces south and has nothing blocking the sun from noon until early evening. When there is more than six hours of sun, it is called "full sun."
*Part sun* means that you get between four and six hours of direct sunlight each day. All of those hours don't have to be in a row. You could get a few hours of sun in the morning and a few more in the afternoon. Even though a plant that likes part sun doesn't have to be in direct sunlight all day, it will grow and bloom better if at least some of those hours are in the afternoon. For these plants to grow flowers and new leaves, they need heat and a lot of direct sunlight.
*Full shade* means that you get less than four hours of direct sunlight each day. Notice that we didn't say zero hours of direct sun. That would be dense shade, which is the darkest level of light where few plants can live. Plants that like full shade need a few hours of sun every day, preferably in the morning.
*Part shade* is also defined as getting four to six hours of direct sun per day, but most of that sun should come in the morning when the sun's rays are not as strong. When we say that a plant likes "cool sun," we mean that it gets direct sunlight in the morning or evening but is protected from the hot sun during the middle of the day.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Indeed, Spiderwort can spread aggressively under the right conditions and could become problematic in some gardens. We always recommend that gardeners research any plant thoroughly before adding it to their landscape, especially with regards to its growth habits and potential for invasiveness. It's always important to choose plants that are appropriate for your specific location and situation. Thanks again for your valuable comment!
Spiderwort is Very invasive But it’s ok! There’s so much of it around here we just cut it with the grass. It comes right back the seeds are spread so it’s no bother. It’s a really pretty shade of purple!😊
Really. Now I have a another one green and white leaves one. Am now waiting until the end of May before I will even think of putting it outside. In the middle of the winter it stop growing for a while. Now it's back to normal just pushing out leaf after leaf
I’m sorry, I lost many flowers this past winter😢 I’m so glad it spring time and great videos like this one which help new graders better understand where to plant. I’ve also learned that the soil can sometimes needs to be different for certain plants and flowers. Don’t give up you mint want to look up the soil preference the Caladium prefers.
@@amarijewel9359 Thanks. I still have it on the inside window because we're having a cool spring and I really don't really want to lose another one. My dahlias seems to be doing OK on the outside .am happy about that because this is my second year growing them. And I tried planting them a little earlier so I can have a longer bloom time. I also put leaves and dead annuals at the base of plants for winter protection and so far so good. Maybe you could also give this a try also
Good point! When choosing shade-loving plants, considering their resistance to deer is important. Some plants are more deer-resistant than others. For example, ferns and certain herbs like lavender or sage tend to be less appealing to deer. We'll try to include this info in our future videos. Thanks for the reminder!

Be careful with spiderwort! It can be incredibly invasive.

I’ve had spiderwort for 20 years. It’s one of my favorites and it has never spread. I wish it would!

Now which ones will survive under the dreaded black walnut?
I put my Caladium outside too early, now its dead after surviving in the cold winter months, what a bummer
How smart
leave it out. mine left outside during frost in december but regrow again now

I lose more stuff to squirrels and rabbits than anything.
Grow some carrots and lettuce around your borders, lol.
WHAT ABOUT BEING EATEN BY DEER?
