Only certain scenes in the movie were taken from the book. But then again, many funny scenes were lifted straight from viral videos on internet as well. The essence of the movie's story or its "philosophy" was original and should be credited to Hirani and Joshi alone.

If you think chetan bhagat is a good writer then let me tell you his content, it's more or less about the student life happening in and around the campus. Along with that the flings bhagat's male leads have in the course of the novel. In the teenage world it's alright bcoz I read him in my teenage too. But later on when we actually realise that life is not all fairytale stuff then you find his work and movies based on his work repetitive. The script of 3 idiots was slightly changed as the narrator was not who seems to be in the movie. Read the book named 5 point someone. You'll know😊

@jaby What you understood from the trailer is mostly wrong. He goes to New York to find her because he got to know that she loves him. There is a lot more story then what you saw in the trailer. Please watch the movie, maybe you will like it :)

If you think chetan bhagat is a good writer then let me tell you his content, it's more or less about the student life happening in and around the campus. Along with that the flings bhagat's male leads have in the course of the novel.

Chetan bhagat did not write 3 Idiots it was Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani. It surely was inspired by the novel by Chetan Bhagat "5 point someone". But those two had a completely different storyline and message.
