Hi guys I would like to say that this product flat out works. I went out yesterday afternoon for a couple hours and caught over 20 keepers on the wrap system. Biggest was over 20 in long and over 6 pounds. After using these wraps for the first time yesterday I am a believer in the product and called Gill today and ordered a bunch more. I can’t wait to get out there and do it again.

Dan: Yes, those fiddlers can get expensive when you can find them. mussels, clams, snails, barnacles also work in the wrap.

Tony: The catch rate is impressive using this system of fishing. It really does tip the scales in favor of the angler when it comes to catching the bait pilfering master of the water, the Sheephead. Imagine the results for fish with less thieving skills.

That is awesome. I live in Milton and I am going to the site to order my wrap system so my daughter and I can go get some sheephead without losing a ton of bait every time. I find Piddler crabs are a great bait for fishing for Sheepshead down here in southeast Louisiana
Fiddlers are a great bait for Sheeps but they fit very nicely in the little pouches and many times you can catch more than one fish on one crab.
Which mesh type are you using for the Sheepshead? I ordered some type 1 mesh bags, tried em the other day, it's a good concept but I wonder if I should have ordered the tougher bags, seem like I was losing a lot of bait. It could just be that I need to wait until the bait thieves go away
I was using the Type 1 wrap. We do have T-3 mesh which is stronger and comes in a smaller wrap 1 1/2 " x .375 it is called Skinny Wrap for larger fish try the 4" X 3/4".
I purchase your system it keeps the little fish from taking your bait. Do you have a video on showing cutting up oysters?

Where did you get the mesh? We’re nearing a prime time for Sheepshead as spring approaches, particularly around the jetty. That is before the trash fish start coming in to steal bait and Sheepshead will tend to get very active and aggressive. I could probably use stockings too, but I’ll have to try your proven method. UPDATE: read the description.

Will these wraps work with shrimp that has been previously frozen?
Yes, A great way to use shrimp with the wraps is to peel then cut into 3/8" pieces and then inject the bait into the wrap. Mossy Head Bait Company sells the bait injectors separate or as a kit along with the wraps.

Yes, but do check with your state laws on harvesting oysters
What is the wrap made of? Is it plastic or nylon mesh based? If so not environmentally a good idea whether it falls of the hook or is ingested. However, if its biodegradable than that would be awesome product.
Peter, Thank you for your concern. the mesh is made of nylon, nylon itself is not toxic and because you are engaging a barbed hook with nylon mesh it is very difficult for the fish to get the mesh off the hook, so little chance of damage to the environment. Once the bait is depleted or the mesh is torn beyond use I encourage all anglers to dispose of the mesh responsible.

I was fishing under Destin Bridge located in Destin Florida, Sheepshead fishing is best during late winter and early spring. Good luck
How do you wrap the oysters?
This system comes with a "Bait Injector" you put the oysters in the injector and inject into the mesh bags then close the top of the mesh bag with you hook.
I'm sure some people other than just myself would like a video on finding live, retrieving, and chuking the oysters. I ordered my system already, but that part is what I'm still unsure about.

Oyster grow abundantly in any brackish water along our cost lines and in our bays, the easiest to find are those attached to docks or bridges and are easy to gather but do wear gloves because the shells are sharp. check local rules on gathering. Many videos on youtube showing how to shuck an oyster or clams. Hope this helps

Oysters work on sheepheads in summer too?
Yes, however there are so many bait thieves present in the summer like Pin fish, small croakers and such that they get the bait before the Sheepshead have a chance. I normally use crabs, snails or barnacles for summer Sheepshead.

I've watched Sheepshead in clear water. They act like little herd animals. They never stay still. They cruise up and down and over all the rocks. Constantly searching for food. Probably why you aren't getting hit after hit. Lots of little herds, or schools, swimming to and fro below the surface of the Earth Earth...

You can get oysters at your local seafood store. Best to buy in the shell and shuck yourself, 2nd best buy already shucked--ask attendant how long they have been in the jar and on ice, avoid oyster in the can--waste of time.

Could you also use pantyhose? I live in TN and use pantyhose when fishing with chicken or beef liver for catfish and sometimes can reuse the bait pouch as we call em for multiple fish as well. I ain't ever tried oysters though. I bet it would work though cause there's been times I've found mussel shells in catfish bellies I've filled.
I did try pantyhose as the first material but found it a bit restrictive. The mesh in the system allows for much more odor release and natural look to the bait offering.

I am retired and just got back into fishing. Reading the boating regulations it states that per Home Land Security regulations you can NOT anchor or stop under bridges. How do you get away with doing that?
James: Many of the 9/11 regulations have relaxed or have been rescinded. Where I was fishing it was permitted. Most bridges are not governed by state or federal laws. The county bridged authority makes the rules for the most part but that is likely to vary depending on what state your in.

We used to use panty hose when I was a kid. Good idea marketing it with a better mesh.
Panty hose was the first mesh I tried because I had used it for chicken liver for cat fishing. I did catch some fish but the mesh was far to confining. Overall I went through 11 different mesh materials, trying each for a period of time, a process of elimination before settling for the present wrap mesh which has proven very effective. Over 200,000 of the wraps have been purchase by anglers in all 50 states and 12 foreign countries for a huge variety of fish, both fresh and salt water.

Has anyone tried this for surf fishing? I like fishing for pompano on the Emerald Coast. Would this work with, say, emulsified shrimp?
This system is very effective in the surf, highly recommend using clams for Pompano, diced shrimp, fresh/peeled is also good. The skinny wrap was designed for Pompano.

Yep, they get big out on the west cost but that Sheepshead is a different species of fish being a member of the Rasp family whereas the Gulf Coast fish is the largest member of the Porgie family. Anyway both are great eating and caught on similar bait.
We always knocked the barnicals off the pilings before we started fishing with shrimp. they were 3 dz a $
James, chumming with barnacles is very effective. Now consider using the barnacles as bait. crush, put in the wrap using a plastic funnel and have fun, and barnacles are free.

A sheepshead is a junk fish we throw off the boat on Cape Cod.
We all have our views and opinions on what fish are good to eat or not but for most anyone that will catch, clean and eat a Sheepshead would never throw the fish back as a junk fish. Goggle the fish you will find almost to the person they love the shrimp/lobster flavor the fish has and the firm white meat, worth the effort to try and catch this elusive fish.
You apparently have never ate a Sheepshead! I have and I think their as good as Grouper or snapper!
