I WAS interested in an Until Dawn movie. That interest has evaporated upon seeing this trailer.
I like the concept of the movie. Cabin in the woods meet Happy Death Day or something like that. Just wish it wasn't associated with the game
Exactly my sentiments lol. Would be way more interested in this if it wasn’t “Until Dawn.”
I was gonna ask what’s wrong with Until Dawn but…oh my God. This trailer is so non representative of the game!
I don’t understand their thinking here. Slapping the “until dawn” on the name is an attempted cash grab to pull in attention from those who are aware of the franchise rather than create something original, it creates controversy which in turn does free marketing. So I can see the strategy here, but I still don’t think it’s a very good one. Why not just have the PlayStation logo on it and say that the movie is inspired by Until Dawn and supermassive games? That would make everyone happy.
What is so hard about adapting and staying faithful to the source material?! It’s like what happened with Yakuza. “We’re doing a fresh new take on the story”. It’s an adaptation, you don’t get to “do your own thing!”
It’s not like it’d be hard to adapt either! Teens are trapped in a cabin with wendigos outside, and they have to survive UNTIL DAWN. THERE’S YOUR STORY!
Im not even sure it even needed to be a movie in the first place. I thought the game itself was supposed to be an interactive movie.
@@TheGeckoNinja theres a movie because the remake sequel baited so sony thought hey lets do a spin off
I'm not saying it looks bad but I think its really funny that it isn't related to the Until Dawn game at all
I'm sorry but I don't see neither how this connects with Until Dawn nor the appeal...
The plot has nothing to do with the game nor a regular movie is an improvment to what is essentially an interactive movie (if anything, it's a downgrade).
They could have easily picked up where the game stops, making it either about the squad who stumbles into Josh going wendigo or Sam trying to not succumb to whatever is happening to her and yet all they did is... groundhog day? Yes, it's set in a cabin in the woods... but so does Friday 13th and nobody says it's connected to Until Dawn.
This is just movie clickbait.
Honestly would be way more interested in this if it was actually based on the game and not Groundhog Day but for death and murder 😑😑😑. Looks like there are a few Wendigos in there though which makes me happy.
Just wish they called this literally anything else. They could’ve made their own story with the main plot of the game but done a different story with it since it’s choice based, but no, they just took the name of Until Dawn, and slapped it onto something completely different.
Kinda makes me feel like Sony just wants a quick buck out of this.
This trailer is giving more "Dead by Daylight" than Until Dawn, however I'm super hyped to see the movie anyways :D
I see the criticisms, but I see why the writers did it. They are capturing the experience while giving a new story: you see the deaths, then you see how to survive the night. Both are crucial for the Until Dawn experience.
(The game was already so much like a movie that I honestly don't think it would have done better if they used the same story.)
"She went missing?" "I didn't say that" has to be some of the dumbest dialogue I'd heard I kinda stopped paying attention after that
@xghostsniper1179 I know right. "Have you seen this person?"
"She went missing?"
"I didn't say that"
Uh yeah you literally just did. If you knew where she was you wouldn't have asked.
Every night seems to be a different kind of horror genre .
I was excited to hear that they were making an Until Dawn Movie, but when I saw this trailer I was not impressed.
This feels like stuido interference like how the Cloverfield framchise is just horror movies that had nothing to do with Cloverfield forcefully getting included with the name slapped on just because some executive said to.
I don't like that they just very loosely added some aspects so they can slap the name on it. But it does look like an interesting movie. I'm just going to look at it as a new chapter in the series rather than a movie adaptation.
Great vid!!! Love ur reactions. You should react to all Darkest Dungeon 1 & 2 trailers. Greetings from Mexico
Like almost everybody is mocking that trailer right now, i like the idea they just took the concept instead of telling the whole same story again.
That is exactly my vision here!
They could create their own characters and make this plot out of them. But they added the name from the game of the same name and naturally people wanted to see a film adaptation, and not the crap that is in the trailer.
It's the same as Final Destination: Aquapark. People think it's related to the franchise of the same name, but it's actually a completely different movie.
@@LexKrueger-v7r What I would have done is include an information at the beginning of the trailer that the movie does not tell the story of the game.
@@FoxinessHDIt's not that they don't tell, but that they took another preview from the game.
I would've liked a more faithful adaptation of the game but I do feel more inclined to give the movie a shot after seeing the full trailer.
Now hold on a minute. I just bought the game 7 hrs ago and now you saying there is an adaptation of it????
GOD HAVE MERCY!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Day 14 (Two weeks in!) of asking Ken and Bethany to react to the indie, fanmade animated shorts for Donkey Kong Country called "Pirate's Scorn" and "Tip the Scale" by Alex Henderson Animation.
These musicals are genuinely some of the best fanmade content that I've seen on TH-cam, with full voice acting mostly by the former cast of an old Donkey Kong Country cartoon, and one could say animation amazing enough to rival studio-production.
So many people poured their heart and soul into these animated shorts, and you can definitely feel the love and passion in this project, even if one is not entirely well-versed on the games. I think it would be right up your alley.
Love yall reactions, can yall please react to sinners trailer 2 🙏🏾
nada que ver con la historia original
Hi, are going to react to Silent Hill 2 Remake finals? Would be great :D
And I thought this was a trailer for the game Family😅
Could it be possible to react to "Higurashi no naku koro ni" anime openings & visual novel (game) intros?
Happy death day 3 under the title Until Dawn. This is not even close to the game. Regardless, of being an interactive game. You can still be true to the source and go with the most outcome for each character
I’m disappointed honestly. Doesn’t resemble the game at all.
This is basically knock-off Dead by Daylight, the movie... that's how I see it.
*1. Film production based on an interactive game*
*Translation of the interactive element:*
An interactive game thrives on the possibility of making decisions that influence the course of the story. This cannot be directly replicated in a film, as the viewer remains passive. Possible approaches are:
*Multiple endings or alternative cuts:*
Similar to films such as Clue, different endings could be presented in special cinema or streaming versions, so that the film - although not interactive - conveys a touch of freedom of choice.
*Narrative breaks and stylistic changes:*
Instead of following the original decision tree, the film can offer a narrative "puzzle" in which a new horror subgenre approach can be experienced after each death (as a homage to the game mechanism). In this way, the interactive spirit of the game is conveyed through changing narrative styles and visual design elements, without the viewer making any decisions themselves. This approach allows the appeal of the video game - the tension, the different consequences and the repeated confrontation with the unknown - to be transferred to a cinematic format.
*2. Analysis of the Until Dawn film trailer*
*Visual and narrative elements:*
The trailer shows a group of young people who are haunted by a masked killer in a remote environment. After the characters die, they wake up again - but each time in a new horror setting in which the type of horror changes. This mechanic, reminiscent of the concept of "Groundhog Day", is used as a central stylistic device to give the film a fresh dynamic.
The trailer uses fast cuts, dark atmospheres and a mixture of classic slasher elements and supernatural threats to keep the viewer in constant anticipation.
Recurring motifs such as the presence of Peter Stormare in the role of Dr. Hill serve as a connecting element between the game and the film and give fans a familiar anchor point.
This approach of combining different horror subgenres in a single film is interpreted as a creative attempt to do justice to the game's decision-making and repetition elements.
*3. Criticism of the trailer*
*Common criticisms:*
Many fans express displeasure with the trailer, which is mainly attributed to the following points:
*Deviation from the game's plot:*
Some viewers complain that the film does not act as a direct adaptation of the original, but tells an entirely new story with new characters. The introduction of a time loop mechanic that does not exist in the game leads to irritation and the feeling that the heart of the interactive experience is lost.
*Mixing too many horror subgenres:*
The trailer quickly switches between different styles - from zombies to ghosts to other monstrous figures. This can be perceived as confusing and stylistically incoherent, as it dilutes the focus and does not fully capture the unified, intense horror of the game.
*Expectations of fans:*
The loyal fan base often expects an adaptation that closely follows the atmosphere and mechanics of the original. Changes in the narrative style or the omission of interactive elements are often seen as a betrayal of the identity of the game.
*Logical counterarguments:*
To counteract these reservations, the following arguments can be put forward:
*Need for creative reinterpretation:*
A film has to prove itself in a different medium. Converting an interactive experience into a linear narrative inevitably requires changes. This does not mean that the essence of the original is lost - rather, the "spirit" of the game is interpreted in a new light. It is about creating a cinematic homage to the essence of the game rather than delivering an exact copy.
*Innovative narrative approach through time loops:*
The introduction of a time loop and switching between different horror subgenres can be seen as an innovative method of simulating the replay value of the game cinematically. While this mechanic was not present in the original, it offers audiences new narrative possibilities and keeps the horror fresh and unpredictable.
*Expansion of the universe:*
By introducing new characters and storylines, the film expands the Until Dawn universe. This can be seen as an opportunity to further expand the world of the game and offer fans additional perspectives and secrets that go beyond the gameplay experience.
*Balance between homage and originality:*
The film should honor the beloved elements of the original (e.g. the cult status of certain characters like Dr. Hill) while also introducing new, cinematic elements. This Balance allows it to satisfy both long-time fans and appeal to new audiences less familiar with purely interactive narratives.
*4. Conclusion*
Producing a film based on a game in which decisions determine the fate of the characters requires a compromise between the tried and tested interactive narrative style and the possibilities of the linear cinematic medium. The Until Dawn film attempts to achieve this by using innovative narrative elements - such as the time loop mechanic and genre switching - to capture the interactive spirit of the game.
Although the trailer has been met with criticism from many fans, the creative choices can be understood as an attempt to combine the best of both worlds: the thrill of the game and the narrative depth of a horror film. The logical counterarguments - such as the need for a reinterpretation, expanding the universe and creating a cinematic experience that pays homage to the interactive origins - make it clear that the film should not be understood as a direct replacement of the game, but as a work of art in its own right.
Ultimately, it is in the eye of the beholder whether this balance is achieved. It will be exciting to see how the film is received when it is released in cinemas and whether it manages to both preserve the spirit of the original and break new ground in the horror genre.
Very well done analysis. I feel like people weren't grasping this.
Whatever garbage you got that from I trash it to the bin
@ someone doesn't want to accept it...
