Another of my favorite Dimash songs, yeah, I know, just really can’t decide which is my top of the list favorite. There will never be another one like Dimash, so darn lucky to be alive to witness this gift from God.
Adagio was the 6th performance of The Singer competition in China in 2017. A really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time, I see this performance I forget to breathe. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. This is so emotional because he literally sang for survival as he was almost voted out on the last episode on Uptown Funk. That's why he had to give everything at Adagio. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Although he has certainly gotten one or two bruises😂. One of the competitors said after the performance, It is so stressful to perform after him😂. If you watch the videos from the Gloria Wu channel you'll see the English subtitles from what was said backstage. What I love about the Chinese competitors is that they don’t behave like competitors. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. That’s the guy with the glasses. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin. Do not be fooled. Terry is older than he looks. He was 50 years old then. They performed together on stage and sang Dimash’s song Unforgettable Day together. They visit each other when they can and send each other birthday greetings. I highly recommend you to watch the version with the story behind on the Gloria Wu channel first and then the one from his Bastau concert. I don’t think there are copyright issues, because the videos on this channel are already edited and there are English subtitles. I think you will appreciate the Bastau version even more if you’ve seen The Singer version before. This song tells a very sad but true story. You really have to watch this with subtitles. It’s really important to know what the song is about. You really have to know why he sings the way he sings. In the Singer version he was so sick and had a severe sore throat and fever. He lost his voice the night before his performance of Daybreak. It’s unbelievable how he always manages to convey emotions to such a degree. Though I think in this one particular version the emotions he shows are mostly concern about his voice keeping up with the song and the pain he must have been in doing it. I've never ever seen one man able to sing like dimash. I'm 75 and been involved with music since I was 5 yrs old and my mom who was a great singer in her own rights. She taught my 2 sisters and myself to sing. We sang for several churches that we had requests to come to. One singing lead and alto and soprano. But never ever have experienced a voice like dimash. So many o to e with breath control tones his vibrato and changes in styles without loss of tone or pausing. His voice is so clear and clean. He is amazing.

An American female vocal coach who is heavily featured on fb, used this video to react to dimash for the first time. She heavily criticised him on overly using vibrato and overly singing to the point he wasn’t connecting to the audience. Music is subjective but he often brings me to tears, gives me goosebumps/chills. He does nothing other than emotionally connect to the songs and his audience. Needless to say I became very annoyed at her reaction. 😂

👉 For non musicians: The language of music is Italian. Adagio is an Italian word and is used in music to denote tempo, meaning: 'calm', 'slow'. In this song, adagio roughly means: If it is to be, then it will be.
The interpretation of the song by Dimash is brilliant. He touches my heart and soul ... every time.
The shaking of his head and the trembling of the chin has nothing to do with the vibrato. It just goes to show that Dimash can be a little nervous and tense too. It was about a lot. In the previous episode 5 (Uptown Funk) he knocked everyone out of their seats, but still only took a back seat. Either he won now or he would go home. Of course, Dimash won Episode 6.
'Adagio in g minor' - today, known as one of the most popular compositions of classical music; composed of alleged fragments of Tomaso Albinoni's; in 1958, joined together by Remo Giazotto (* 4. Sept. 1910; † 26. Aug. 1998 - Italian musicologist, music critic, and composer).
Camilo Sesto wrote 1985 the original lyrics in Spanish to this piece. Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics in Italian and English. Composers Rick Allison, Dave Pickell and Lara Fabian arranged the piece into a pop song. Since then, this song has been part of Lara Fabian's repertoire.

Lara is a great role model for Dimash. Even as a child Dimash wanted to be on stage with Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian one day ... and for Dimash the dream came true of the 65th birthday of Igor Krutoy in 2019.

The tune is based on a composition originally thought to be by Venetian composer Tomaso Albinoni, Adagio in G minor for violin, strings, and organ continuo. The neo-Baroque composition was actually written in the 1950s by 20th century musicologist and Albinoni biographer Remo Giazotto, purportedly based on the discovery of a manuscript fragment by Albinoni. An American female vocal coach who is heavily featured on fb, used this video to react to dimash for the first time. She heavily criticised him on overly using vibrato and overly singing to the point he wasn’t connecting to the audience. Music is subjective but he often brings me to tears, gives me goosebumps/chills. He does nothing other than emotionally connect to the songs and his audience. Needless to say I became very annoyed at her reaction. 😂
