      Nothing destabilizes society more than income inequality, and since billionaires sit right at the apex of our current ultra-stupid exploitative economic system, it stands top reason that they are the primary threats to society.

      Romanski who gives a shot what Destiny thinks? He thinks might makes right, and if a country can’t recover from being bombed to hell, that’s their own fault. He’s just an ignorant edge lord who likes to think of himself as some master debater. He’s not as smart as he thinks he is.

    Sounds nice, but surely as an economist, and one that has studied left wing economics, she should know that Venezuela is still a capitalist country.
    The better comparison would be the USSR. Not Venezuela, which is basically a social democracy, with massive issues from sanctions and from an economy that is dependent on one major export. The economic setup (minus the sanctions, and with some diversification- basically, the same economic setup, but some more intelligently and without an immensely powerful enemy constantly breathing down their neck) that is closest to Venezuela, is actually Norway. That is, a state with ownership of the oil industry, a large welfare state, some regulation on private business, but still with an economy that is mostly privately owned (in Venezuela, it’s 70% privately owned).
    And if there is private ownership of the means of production, it’s not a socialist system. It can’t be, by definition. Because that’s the definition of capitalism. So Venezuela has been portrayed as this socialist country, that’s falling apart because socialism. But that’s not really what’s happening. It’s a complicated situation, to be sure. But one thing it isn’t, is socialist.

    • @katherinemorelle7115
      @katherinemorelle7115 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You Wish but, it didn’t. It seized the oil industry, but that’s about it. Most of the businesses are privately owned- ergo, it is capitalism, and not socialism. Having one or two government owned industries does not socialism make.

      @@katherinemorelle7115 That one industry is 22% of their total GDP and 95% of their exports. And since 1999, more than two thirds of the private business in the country has died or left.

      @@katherinemorelle7115 State owned businesses =/= Socialism, as Socialism is defined by the absence of private property and money/commodity exchange. The idea that socialism/communism means state running the economy is likely a misunderstanding of what Marx called the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, in which the Proletariat seizes the means of production during a revolution this is only to be temporary measure to protect the aims of said revolution against counter revolutionary forces. Its temporary because as we transition into a classless society the state will by necessity "wither away".

      In 2001 and 2002, Chávez gave PDVSA a monopoly on all new oil exploration and production and forced foreign firms to become minority shareholders in any partnership with the state-run firm. By the end of the second year, after the first national strike against the government, Venezuela’s oil production decreased from 3 million barrels per day to 2.6 million.
      From 2005, Chávez expropriated assets from private oil companies operating in Venezuela. By 2008, oil production had dropped to 2.5 million barrels per day. March 2015: President Barack Obama issued an executive order implementing the 2014 act by freezing assets and revoking the visas of seven Venezuelan officials: six members of the Venezuelan security forces and a prosecutor. Venezuela's downfall was not the result of "massive issues from sanctions".

      First of all...have some freaking human decency when it comes to your fellow man. You're an example of what she was talking about when it comes to the story that the ultra rich feed us about who is to blame.
      Second...you know that the BIGGEST beneficiaries of the welfare state is big business right? Walmart, for example, drives their massive profits off the fact that they can pay their employees so little because they can get topped up on welfare. If we force companies like that to actually pay a living wage, or better yet, a THRIVING wage, the welfare state will dwindle to almost nothing

    • @grumpydad7435
      @grumpydad7435 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@aeislughSo those individuals on welfare for life, who have half a dozen kids they raise to do the same are going to get a job if Walmart pays a little more? These are entry level jobs, you dont pay a teenage boy stocking shelfs what you pay a tradesman. You dont pay someone who stands at an entrance greeting people what you pay those in emergency services. Walmart pays you for the skills you lack.. lazy people are still gonna be lazy and raise their kids to be the same way, regardless of what walmart pays their employees. While we work 6 days, sacrificing our time with loved ones, they sit at home sucking up resources that could be used to better the lives of those putting forth an effort in this life. Most these idiots dont even pay attention to their kids as anything other then a tool to enrich themselves through government programs. Corporate welfare you say? At least the corporation contributes by existing and selling resources we can all use. What good to the community is giving individuals a free ride through life?
      They dont care enough about their own to put forth an effort in life, so they deserve no sympathy from those who do.

    • @grumpydad7435

    • @aeislugh
      @aeislugh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@grumpydad7435 your idea that anyone working a job at walmart is either lazy or a teenager is frankly ignorant. The fact is that there are a lot of people who are working such "entry level" jobs because they have no choice. I know university grads working at walmart because they simply can't find work in their field. Companies that hire "skilled labor" have cut back so much in the last couple decades, that the openings for such positions that you almost have a better chance of winning the lottery.
      The ideas you are expressing are the ideas of a person who is either wealthy themselves and abusing the system to gain even more money, or someone brainwashed by the wealthy to focus all your hostility on people just trying to get by, rather than the ones actually taking money out of your pocket.
