Aaron Bushnell was a white American Christian man with no ties to Israeli or Palestinian people. He came from a deeply troubled past essentially being brought up in an occult. A “SECURITY SCARE”? THAT’S what you’re choosing to call it? I’ve given up on the media. Aaron, thank you for your bravery and taking a strong stance against what will go down in history as an absolute atrocity.
I wish it didn’t take his life-but as he said, there are tens of thousands in Gaza who have been suffering the same fate he soon would on a daily basis. That is an extremely powerful message, and the reporting should be on THAT. His WHY.
When people are willing to endure this type of pain in the hope of getting govt official’s attention and MAKE THEM SEE how angry, and saddened, and frustrated most of us are that they are ACTIVELY supporting genocide, that’s when they will HOPEFULLY listen. Thus far, nothing else has worked-and this type of demonstration has proven to be very powerful in a few instances throughout history (other countries).
People need to stop saying it’s a “mental health issue” or that he was “crazy”.
No…he was an extremely empathetic person who dedicated himself to serving this country-and because of the rules that military officials have to follow, it meant that he legally couldn’t voice how he felt about Israel’s war on Gaza….instead having to stand behind the government.
When someone in that position actually understands what is happening in Gaza, and feels the pain of all of the people suffering (I assume he’s an empath)-and realizes that someone in his position could potentially have an impact-even if it means getting people talking about how innocent Palestinian bodies are enduring the same fate that Aaron did on a daily basis-it becomes obvious that these are the actions of someone who was BRAVELY calling for government officials to LISTEN to the citizens they represent, and (IMPORTANTLY), to listen to how many of the men and women who risk their lives so that PEACE and DEMOCRACY can exist where possible feel about our government’s choice of being on the wrong side of history.
He likely felt-like anyone else with a conscious and ability for empathy-that he was otherwise helpless to do anything that would help put a stop to the genocide that is occurring, and thus resorted to the most extreme kind of demonstration to call for peace.

Your comment is full of unsubstantiated assumptions about who this person was. Just because you want to believe he was an “empath” doesn’t mean he was. It’s just as likely, if not more so, that he was a person with severe mental health issues, which drove his radical ideology. And yes, only a radical would do something like this. And yes, people with radical ideologies are much more likely to also have mental illnesses than others.
The simple fact is that he killed himself in vain. Nothing will come of this except, maybe, a funeral. The majority of people in the US, and especially in the military, support Israel in this war and rightfully so. Israel deserves to defend itself as a sovereign nation and Hamas and its supporters who are helping hide them within Palestine deserve the fate they have coming to them. While it is unfortunate that the actions of Hamas have resulted in a war that will inevitable see innocent civilian casualties, I challenge you to think of a single war in human history that has not seen civilian casualties. It’s an inevitability. But to blame Israel for a war that they didn’t start is not only ignorant, it’s borderline evil given the atrocities we all witnessed that were committed by Hamas.

This also happened in the Vietnam war when a monk burned himself alive ; this was done to get world wide attention of the war atrocities committed against their people. That was a big sacrifice and the world will pray for him . May he now have peace.

I watched the entire uncensored video. Pretty extreme. He collapsed and died.
More likely passed out in the video and didn't die until a while later in hospital. The extreme pain and extreme heat would be difficult to stay conscious through but he was likely young and fit enough to live a while longer with all his burns.
