Dear Ann-Elin, You do so well on Pickle! Sam always looks very happy when you join him aboard for the adventure! Great to see you guys enjoying life rather than stuck in a boring office! I always look forward to watching your channels! 😊
Great vid Sam. Anna Lee brings a welcomed depth to your posts. I noticed you have through bolts in the roof of the dodger. I'd hate to see someone impaled by these in an unexpected wave. Keep up the posts. I love em when I get a chance to watch.
You two make a good team. Ann Elin you arent used to sailing as much as Sam has been yet. You could be tired more because your body and mind are adjusting to the change. You're trying to do the filming chores for Sam, so he can handle the sailing chores easier. A good team.
great roofline scape there in Tangier...wish you had balcony/window. your sailing lunch of mac/cheese was yummy, saw that British butter! Another great episode
I am inspired riding along every mile filmed on "Miss Pickle", so the fun is multiplied with moments you also share of her adventures. Same boat, uniquely different feel, so nothing seems redundant. Thank you!!!
Love to see you and Sam sailing together. FYI, I use the patch for sea sickness, otherwise known as Scopolamine. It doesn’t make you drowsy. Fair winds, fair seas!
Try to do steering or be busy, don’t sit make it’s worse and if not feeling well eat ginger that’s helps a lot to , you can always lie down then you will feel a lot better.
SeaBands wristbands help tremendously. We were in an aft deck cabin through a near hurricane with extreme choppy seas, and my friend and I were both fine through the whole thing. And I am very prone to motion sickness! Just subscribed and really enjoying your channel! Sam really lights up when you're around...❤😊
Really cool I love that I get double videos from Sam and Ann-Elin😃 Sam has got to be thinking about the next yacht purchase after all these seasons with Pickle
Why? Telluwhat those Cape Dory's are tough boats! I'd much rather be out there on a full keel boat than one with a swing or fin keel with a spade or skeg rudder. Years ago I crewed on a 40 foot, double ended steel ketch.. yeah full keel but it was large enough for a center cockpit and inside steering. Did a lotta sailing in the North Atlantic and this boat had been around the horn (I wasn't on it). It was built in the 30's and definitely old school. It even had gimbled bunks. No V birth as the chain locker and head was up there. We used to watch a lotta fish because the ports seemed like they were always underwater on the leeside. This boat did NOT have a doghouse but instead high freeboard. I bet its still floating someplace.
I'm glad to see that you are getting the full experience of sailing and visiting non-european places as sailors. You will remember bits of these journeys for the rest of your lives.
I did not know you had a channel I must have missed it following Sam. I just watched his channel and he said you had one and put the link for it. Now I see more of what is going on lol. Awesome I am now subscribed. Have a blessed week. Love from Texas.
Welcome to TH-cam. The blue boat got promoted under a new name. Fair seas, and don't forget extra limes, especially if you come across a needy boat or castaways.
Thanks for bringing us along, Ann-Elin. I really enjoy your editing style. So much so that I look forward to your videos even more than I do Sam's. Hopefully Sam doesn't read this haha. I do still faithfully watch his videos though.
Love the video and see Sam's adventures from a different perspective. It was difficult to hear the dialog over the background. Don't know if there is a way to fix that?
Good looking mac and cheese. And chef. Tommy's mac and cheese tip: Mix the butter, milk and "cheese" in a bowl and then add the mac. The "cheese" mixes better that way. 😎
Apropos sea-sickness and drowsiness , there is an over- the - counter medication available in France called Mercalm which has some caffeine , does not cause drowsiness and is quite effective. In the USA you can also get Motion Eaze which is a topical herbal oil that is also very effective. Coffee before going to sea definitely contributes to sea-sickness as does a hangover. I love your videos, All the best to you both!
Some people just have "tough" stomachs and I'm one of them. My brother's though have squeamish stomachs. Years ago I crewed in the North Atlantic for a coupla years. Never caught any motion sickness even with the captain got sick. Lotta rough seas up there I mean 12-16 foot seas was nothing at certain times and places of the year. Yeah check out the bouy's here sometime: www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ Not many in the Med but check out Ann's home world around Norway/Sweden.
Good video. One suggestion: superglue a wind muffler to your camera or add an external microphone that has a wind muffler. The wind noise is distracting in the video
Swordfish aren't a common fish, I don't believe. Didn't know they breached like that either. And I couldn't believe the size of that cargo ship.. You see a lotta different boats in that area for sure. Take care.
Ahum.... it looks like you're able to catch the movement of the boat and the waves better on camera than Sam has been trying for years 🙂. PS: almost 5k subs, congratz!
They're such curious creatures, though. Fortunately Sam doesn't have a spade rudder because Orcas like to play with those things around that area for some reason. I suspect its only a single pod that has learned how to do that and its probably the juveniles that don't know any better! Juveniles are juveniles regardless of the species.
That's a Cape Dory... its rudder is keel fastened (not transom hinged). Orcas only mess with spade rudders. Sure they stick out like sore thumbs and juveniles being juveniles... I wish we had them around Florida waters but its too warm here. They're common in her waters (Norway) though. Yeah people in wetsuits are out there diving and cavorting with them! They do that around NZ as well but these are all much colder waters.
@@leecowell8165that is inaccurate. I asked this question from the group that studies these cetaceans and they attack every kind of rudder with equal frequency. I thought they would avoid skeg-hung rudders. They do not.
Hey! Another great video. You are doing a wonderful job. Please don't tell Sam I might like your channel better. Haha. Also, were you not concerned about eating salad in Africa? When I was in Egypt we didnt eat anything that had touched water.
I wasn’t really concerned about that 🤷♀️😅 I got my vaccines and felt pretty safe, I just tried to avoid the half-warm stuff that has potentially been laying around all day in a counter. But we made it through without getting sick! 👌
@@annelinsynnes I'm glad you're all good. Dysentery is not fun. I got pneumonia in Africa from a dust storm. Kinda put a damper on the end of the trip.
@@annelinsynnes the style is definitely different! What’s why I asked, I know Sam had mentioned editors in the past. Lol it actually looks more polished. Cheers.
Maybe YOU & Sam could combine Channels since you both are TH-cam Storytellers! Do you have a link for the Electric Espresso Maker- that’s a game-changer! ⛵️
Hey Ann-Elin I see that your channel is growing - all success to you. On Sam's channel he doesn't really tell his viewers how he is sailing his boat or how it relates to wind direction, tides, wave action, balance, etc in terms of drawings on a piece of paper - maybe you can do that? He sometimes shows clips of the wind vane, but doesn't follow that up with the shape of the sails, how close he is to the wind, how far away, etc. These are things that could really add to a learning of the mechanics of sailing. and really plug in more people. Maybe you can get into that to grow your channel even more quickly?
I don't think Ann has reached that level quite yet. She recently published her first excursion out on her own in calm (and rather difficult) sailing conditions. I was curious how she handled the mooring work when she returned because I don't think Sam was around at the time. However she didn't cover that aspect of her sail. She did the right thing a day sail trip for a few hours then return home. I was concerned for her because of having to start the outboard. When I sailed years ago we didn't even have engines BUT we either moored or anchored... I never docked like Ann and Sam often do. Yep I could imagine that being very sketchy under trying circumstances.
@@annelinsynnes Having worked in Norway and with many Norwegians most had an accent even growing up watching US tv. Not a criticisms at all just observation. Hope you get lots more sailing time with Sam. 🙂

If feeling sick take over the steering, concentrate on the horizon and the chart plotter and wind. You will feel much better.
