The way it suddenly shifts at the end to 'Waxing your car', I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Well done! But going to the car, what an exceptional piece of machinery. Jaguar around this time was at the start of their greatness. This generation was and is surely one of the best looking of all XJS sedans ever. What a striking automobile inside and out.

I didn't think Jaguar had a problem with power in their cars. I mean their main engine for years was a multi race winning engine.

I owned one of the first XJ6 in the early 70's and I now own a 1996 XJ6 with the much faster AJ16 4ltr straight. Engine. Jaguars of this period are or were in a class of their own, and with Jaguars, you either got them or you didn't. Do they have enough power? Well! not according to Top Gear and and it's juvenile follower's who care more about BHP than the car itself. We have already reached the point where many cars can accelerate faster than they can stop. And we have certainly already reached the stupid mentality, which would be like buying a speed boat to drive in a swimming pool. Jaguar cars at one time were not just a car , they were a work of art and a gentleman's car. As the gentlemen disappear so will Jaguars, as they give way to the brash cold bo ho expensive fashion of ripped jeans and the popular sloppy attitude of anything goes. When was the last time we saw a car commercial that talked about the practicalities rather than the emphasis on speed, performance and gadgets.

These were beautiful cars. When my mom want shopping for a new car in 92, we almost bought one. She loved jaguars and the way they looked. But we ultimately got a Mercedes, which was probably a more practical, sensible, and reliable choice as it was a family car, the the jaguar was cramped, had worse reliability and didn’t have all the latest safety features.

94 XJ40 . Never go over 100kms an hour .. get the later model without the fancy suspension ..yes it will go round roundabouts faster than a mini .pity it's limited to 155 mph .. but who wants to go fast .. don't forget to carry a spare crank sensor ..Sit on motorway ..Porsche or Merc showing off .. sports button then as overtaking car gets level with back bumper ..Floor it ....not much will get past .. just getting to old for all that now ..quite content to keep to 100kph and listen to digital clock ticking .. Mainly because I cannot afford the fuel ..
