Straight Edge 80's kid here. Man, I remember getting Beachcomber back in '85 or so from K and K Toys here in Virginia. I then followed my mother into a grocery store and immediately lost my new toy in the meat section as he slipped out of my hand and went down into the bottom. Years later when the store was being demolished I tried my best to get in there and just check for him, but they wouldn't let me...videos like these always kick up the memories.
I found you today and have been watching you for a few hours in a row so far! Great videos. You are wellspoken and hit the nail on the head when you talk about the emotions behind these figures. Love it!
Sat down and watched all 9 in a row and man....that was a trip down memory lane! I was showing my sons all the ones I had when I was growing up. Amazing collection Michael!!
Wow, all I've been watching are your History Of Transformer 1984-1987 videos and happen to stumble on this one. Hoping this will be 19:42 of pure bliss. Push aside paperwork, this is more priority...
Thanks for making these videos, the cartoons from the 80's will forever live on within us all who grew up enjoying the era as well as the lessons and values they pushed to teach us. Wish i would have held on to my figures.
Have Mercy!!! You’ve done it again. 2 thumbs way up👍🏻👍🏻 The production value, content and quality of ALL your videos are second to none. Not to mention your narrations and research, put these videos are over the top. I’m sure I’m not the only one that, when we get a notification, it’s a must watch. You must work in special effects or movie editing? Can’t thank you enough for all you do. Blown away that this is from somebody also in the GTA. #TeamOntario. As always, thanks for sharing your collection and passion. Keep them coming! Yoooooooo Snow Joe!
Thanks! I've worked in tv & movies but the amount of ego behind the cameras didn't agree with me. Nice to hear my experience is translating well with these TH-cam videos though. TH-cam is a wonderful platform where effort can be rewarded without behind-the-scenes politics getting in the way as much. You're from GTA? Nice! Ever go to those toy shows in Mississauga?
Wow, amazing collection and video. Love it! I had a lot of Transformers when I was a kid. Even have a pic of my holding my Superion! Unfortunately, I do not have them anymore. However, I recently found four transformers on the flea market: Fireflight, Motormaster, Slag and Grimlock! I may start building up a collection again after watching this!
Thanks for another amazing trip down nostalgia lane Michael! And hang over and black lung free! It really is a great message though and often use it as positive reinforcement from shying away from wasteful habits. I've had this discussion several times with siblings who can't wrap their head around buying about me a $100+ "toy" in a masterpiece or Lego set. It becomes quickly obvious how much more they spend on a single evening at a bar. And it doesn't have to be complete abstinence, but it's amazing the difference when you put your energy into a positive. And that can be anything from vintage toys, cars, tools, art, etc. Great video as always!
Thanks Shawn! Yup, I've seen that happen to with people blowing a lot of money at the bar as if it doesn't count. My Toy Museum always reminds me that it sure does count! :D
I am building my G1 collection with a lot of reissues and I appreciate how u count them as just as good as the 80s originals or even better some times I know some collectors act like they don't count if they don't come from that time period I like your enthusiasm about reissues and 3rd party transformers nice to see a fellow collector with a open mind great video
Thanks! I've noticed those are usually the same types of people who like to have things mint in unopened box even when there's no window on the box and you don't know what's actually inside. It's more about the pride (ego) of having it be an actual vintage item than how it looks or how it makes them feel. I love the reissues because they look brand new and remind me of how the toys looked when I first saw them as a kid. Plus they're affordable and more people can afford and enjoy them (empathy). I don't bother discussing the topic with those types anymore because it's usually just a passion vs pride thing which is a waste of time. Clash of values. :D
Another awesome video! Metroplex, predaking, jetfire, they look so cool on display. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of these. Just makes me wanna collect even more! Thanks man!
it's hard growing up Toys R Us is closing down and I lost my mother on April 3rd 2018 she was 62 I wish I could go back to those bygone days where I went to Toys R Us with my mother I guess some things never last forever😭
I’m starting my own Transformers Collection/Museum. Only have 3 G1 figures though. But they’re absolutely amazing. G1 Slapdash, G1 Red Bumblebee (not cliffjumper) and G2 Ramjet! You basically inspired me to keep on collecting. I owe you one bro! I just hope that one day I can obtain as many as you have collected.
thank you mike I am a huge fan and perfect statement of having overwhelming feelings . I use to wake up at 5 on sundays to watch o .p. touch down and have a chat with a kid as the intro it was awesome . thank you for reminding me who my first and still hero and all the lessons and good quality traits he embodies
oh thank you . been over 30 years of waiting to know his name . I wish you did live tours .I would donate what ever you would need to make that happen . as I understand how busy you are and would gladly wait until you were available . You have set me back on a life coarse I had been missing for a very long time .Did you ever see a show called dinosaucers ? and inhumaniods visionaires so so many memories keep flooding in . I am so glad to see my dreams real even if they are threw you . I enjoy how you collect as a toy at thift price has so much more value to me then getting finacialy taken for what i want as well .
0h WOW wasnt looking but stumbled apon a video where there is a filopino kid that is living that intro .worlds most expensive toy collection. phillipines world record . It took 2 years for the room to be built .Omg its amazing . If you ever get the chance take it in . He is definately the luckiest person in the world . Hopefully it is fueling his creativity . His OP is quite a step up from the intros I must say .
Before I become one with the matrix, i want to witness this mecca in person! Thank you Michael for every great video you've put out- my 6 and 3 year old children love watching them with me ( the original g1 series too!) And i love the words of wisdom and positivity that you share. Till all are one.
Cool collection friend Transformers is really a great influence to me and started my collection went I was 16 to this day and the funny thing is bro it was the action masters that started my present collection I still have them even if they do not transform I still love this figures and still have all the US realese versions can't wait for the MOTU collection He-Man is my favorite thing of my entire collection and is front and center in my man cave take care keep up those great videos.
Awesome G1 collection You have got very good taste. I love G1. My favorite cartoon and toyline from the 80's. Take care and looking forward to the next part. Roy
Wow- that is an absolutely enviable G1 collection! The Turbomasters are really cool to see. We got them in the States as “Machine Wars”, but recoloured and decorated as G1 bots. I have the Machine Wars Prime that was based on Thunderclash. It’s actually one of my favourite Primes- such a cool tooling and transformation. Seeing your collection makes me miss my Prime collection. I had to leave it all in storage when I moved to the UK. At one point I had almost every version of Optimus ever made (excluding variants and special decos). If it was Red, white/silver and blue and transformed I had it. I’ve missed quite a few in the last few years so I focused instead on Masterpiece ‘bots. Im glad I can live vicariously through your exquisite collection :)
Thanks! I remember the Machine Wars repaints. Too bad they deactivated the missile firing (again!). What is it with North American kids wanting to shoot their eyes out? The big upgrade for the MW Prime is he isn't made out of gold plastic. Despite being very careful with Thunderclash, his cab cracked during transformation thanks to Gold Plastic Syndrome. By the way, there's a new Masterpiece Optimus on the way, this time toon-accurate. Happy hunting! :D
I LOVED seeing the old classic G1 figures! I had a good bunch of the old figures when I was younger. My goal is to have all the major characters in Masterpiece versions...
Funny the emotions that get attached to these childhood treasures. I actually got mad that you had the audacity to replace my favorite G1 figure Jetfire with the newer Skyfire fig. Lol I actually went the opposite way, and put considerable work into turning that same "Skyfire" fig into the most detailed "Jetfire" I could manage! Anyway, love your collection and videos!
I find it interesting you like the robot modes for display. I am the exact opposite, I keep all my g1 in "vehicle" mode, except a few choice Decepticons that just look silly now.
In the UK, we got a (very) few more, actually. Pyro, Clench, Deftwing, etc... My Clench has only five of the six missiles from his magazine-fed missile launcher. That last one literally vanished in front of my eyes... :-)
I’m almost 13 and I watched g1 when I was like 3 and I loved it!I remember I really wanted all the g1 since I thought they were still around. But the ones I wanted the most were preadaking and Ultra Magnus. But when I went to TF con I got a preadaking. Now that I like transformers again I’m trying to find all of my preadacons. But my brother found Rampage.
Love your videos and going through them just to click the Like button. Really enjoy this one. I was in HS when Transformers were on. I'd get home from school and watch it with my younger brother six years younger than I. He still has his Transformer toys and, while they were played with, he took fantastic care of them. Very enjoyable stuff here! P.S. Yeah, we all thought Ultra Magnus would be the next Optimus. Big Truck, leader, Robert Stack's voice, etc. The fact that it was NOT him made the movie pretty entertaining. The current crop of Transformers live action flicks are horrible compared to the good ol' cartoon.
Your videos just pump me up. I'm almost tempted to sell off my Hot Wheels collection so I can start hunting G1 figures. Do you collect figures from the Generation lines? More specifically, the past War For Cybertron trilogy?
My friend, your Transformers collection is one of the best that I've seen. There's a young girl that fellow master collector Justice Curry visited and she showed him, to his astonishment as well as mine, her massive Transformers collection. Yours and hers are the best. My favorite Transformers are of course, Optimus Prime, Blaster, Soundwave and the villanous Starscream. Thank you for this video! Do you think that I can still get, at least, Soundwave, Blaster...the 12" ones and Optimus Prime?
yup when I was younger and single I party a lot I did smoke and drink every weekend so all that money just went to the trash wish I started collecting back then, when I started to go out with my wife before we got marry, I found stuff at my moms house a couple of TMNT and parts of transformers, and from them out I started to get in to collection, I don't smoke or drink so yeah that money gets some plastic crack now heheh hope one day I can have a room like yours to put all my stuff on display and talk about it and why I have it I love transformers but never got in to G1 now im just trying to get MP's or third party fig, but the ones that I love to have vintage are my TMNT and some gobots yes yes TF are better than gobots but they have a soft spot on my heart and I have more stuff so yeah lets keep it safe by getting figures as long as we pay all the stuff for our kids bills etc and there is something extra for our self well why not get something that makes you happy every time that you see it standing on display great view still watching
You sure are setting the bar as far as toy -room- museums go. Can you recommend any Transformers Combiners that are out there now? Besides G1 Devastator of course.
You are totally right, sometimes my family makes comments about the things i buy(video games, toys, collectibles). I always say, well, it could be worse, i could be addicted to/spend my money on drugs/alcohol.
My G1 collection is pretty small I only have Starscream, Grimlock, Kup, Hot Rod, Bumblebee, Tailgate, Optimus Prime, Blitzwing, and Astrotrain. Starscream, Bumblebee, Hot Rod, and Tailgate are all reissues Kup is an original but missing his weapon and stickers, and Prime and Grimlock are KOs. I don't know what Astrotrain and Blitzwing are but I am pretty sure they aren't KOs though. Also sadly my KO Prime didn't come with the white strip stickers so that stinks. Other than Kup and Prime all of my G1s are complete. I did at one point have the Constructicons but I had a LOT of trouble transforming most of them and accidentally braking hook's leg. And I ordered Gnaw and Shockwave a couple years ago and the guy I ordered them from didn't send them. I also had my favorite triple changer Octane for a couple months too but one day while transforming him a screw started to get lose that wasn't visible from the outside of the figure and his whole lower body just came off and it was impossible to put it back together so I had to send him back.
You went way deeper than a second or third grader who day dreamed about transformers and GI Joe in school theres way more there than I had a handle on back then 😂
I am totally with u why waste money on booze , smokes and drugs and have nothing to show for it when u can buy toys or whatever passion your in to and have something to show for it and to share with others ! Great video ! I really do love your museum :-)
I'm not sure but do u have the menasor and abonimus. I have all of them up to the movie characters as well. plus abonimus, computron, metroplex, tripicon, sunstorm, raiden, piranacon, ricochet, all complete some orginal but most reissues like commemorative series, encore, and china reissues which I really like. all mine r kept in boxes but my son an I get them out all the time. I'm 42 yrs old it's the feeling of having them all like what I wanted when I was a kid. when my son gets old enough to understand how to handle them they r his. he is 8 yrs old. I have 99% of vintage motu they go to my daughter which is 10 yrs old they both love them.my son has 90% of vintage tmnt figures. I have gobots, four star transistor robots l, and 95 % select converters. It's just something about the older style toys i love them.
Buddy, it's like this, anyone who gives you a hard time about not wasting your life and money on drinking or drugs is an idiot! This coming for a struggling addict of over 20 years.

I really appreciate the message in the beginning. Well done, sir.
I quit smoking three years ago. It was the hardest but best thing I ever did for my self. I wish I never started.
Proud
That's good
Once again, another amazing video. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Derek! :D

That's such an impressive G1 collection. As a kid, I dreamed of having shelves full of these guys. Seeing it now is like complete nirvana.
Same here! What they say is true: dreams can come true, but the part they always leave out is that they're fueled by a lot of effort! :D

SUCH AMAZING VIRTUAL TOUR: THE MICHAEL MERCY 80'S TOY MUSEUM [PART 9] !!!!!
Awesome G1 collection
You have got very good taste.
I love G1. My favorite cartoon and toyline from the 80's. Take care and looking forward to the next part. Roy
Thanks Roy!

Great video, and even greater message in the beginning! Love your channel so much brother, keep it up!!
Thanks, much appreciated! :D
Awesome collection! Looking forward to the MOTU video.
Thanks Trevor! Looking forward to making it too! :D
I LOVED seeing the old classic G1 figures! I had a good bunch of the old figures when I was younger. My goal is to have all the major characters in Masterpiece versions...
Your G1 Transformers are in great condition! Very cool toys and great video.
Thanks! Roll out! :D
Funny the emotions that get attached to these childhood treasures. I actually got mad that you had the audacity to replace my favorite G1 figure Jetfire with the newer Skyfire fig. Lol
I actually went the opposite way, and put considerable work into turning that same "Skyfire" fig into the most detailed "Jetfire" I could manage!
Anyway, love your collection and videos!
I find it interesting you like the robot modes for display. I am the exact opposite, I keep all my g1 in "vehicle" mode, except a few choice Decepticons that just look silly now.
Really enjoying these videos. I feel like painting my collection room orange now :)
Thanks! Yes, it certainly makes everything brighter and pop.
Thanks for making these I love transformers and I love seeing it's roots
Great Museo Mr Michael congratulations I like so much this videos, God bless you. ....

Just a time travel to my childhood! Exelen video my friend.
Thanks Hector! Nerdmasté! 🙏
Finally, been waiting for this.
Very special collection! Nice to see some Turbomasters in there!
Thanks! Yup I love those, the last Transformers that have the genuine G1 look and feel to them.
In the UK, we got a (very) few more, actually. Pyro, Clench, Deftwing, etc... My Clench has only five of the six missiles from his magazine-fed missile launcher. That last one literally vanished in front of my eyes... :-)
New to your channel. Informative. Thank u great collection. Starting to build my own collection
Thanks & welcome!
This is one awesome G1 TF collection!
Thanks!

You sure are setting the bar as far as toy -room- museums go. Can you recommend any Transformers Combiners that are out there now? Besides G1 Devastator of course.
Thanks! My fav G1 combiner is Predaking.
Great stuff
Fantastic
Amazing 😀

My figures are just kingdom, Ultra Magnus generations springer and whirl and soon hopefully a thf shoundwave
"The most flatulent Autobot, Windbreaker..." :-D
Beware his exhaust!
Wait did you get galvatron repainted because I could’ve sworn he was gray and a lot more cylindrical in shape?
It's an eHobby exclusive repaint.

I didn’t have any of the larger cooler transformers because they were too expensive. I got the $2 joes instead
The Transformers toy commercials are great because it's the only chance we got to see the later characters in animated form.
Yes! Even though they were only glimpses, it was so cool to see them in animated form and still voiced by the Sunbow voice actors.
Gives me more great memories from my childhool

Im only a kid and i love the 80s
This makes me wish I grew up on the original transformers 🥺
Does gear4toys still exist?
We need a Michael Mercy Transformer. Who wants to make one? If someone does I’d donate to the go fund me straight away.

Buddy, it's like this, anyone who gives you a hard time about not wasting your life and money on drinking or drugs is an idiot! This coming for a struggling addict of over 20 years.
Wow I am so jealous your parents were well off in 1985
Nope, I got most if my collection 10 years ago.

Just say no to drugs
