I just got this guitar, and it's amazing and so well setup out of the box! I just upgraded with locking tuners and graphtech nut! Addicted to it!

I bought one of these a week back. I usually only buy guitars that are £1000+ and after testing out loads of instruments. I already have a Pro II and a custom shop strat. On the day a few drinks down, I walked into a store and tried out about 6 maple strats including a used 2014 American standard and Pro II miami blue maple, American vintage and another used American Strat along with 2 buttercream Player strats. The best strat and the worst strat on the day were both the buttercream Player Strats. I ended up buying the best strat that day it just plays and sounds like a strat. It pretty much is an American standard made in Mexico. The problem is you really need to play the strat to buy the one that actually plays well. Don’t go by the ££££s instead play them and see what you like!

I really liked this concept... They don't need to spend too much time on one guitar to review it. So they can demonstrate more instruments.

One other thing I forgot to mention, the player strats probably have the thinnest strat necks I’ve played in a while. It’s really fast!

Not sure why any reputable vendor would put anything less than great pups in their mid-priced range...Fender and PRS are particularly guilty of this. Make a GREAT guitar...put in so-so pups.

The pick ups are the one thing that doesn’t need to be changed lol. They are basically unbranded 57-62 pickups from fender lol. Just put locking tuners if you float your trem and your fine.

@@parmeshgurung Yes, many standard single coils in the bridge position can sound shrill and brittle.

Bought it. It's ok but not great. It's an American Standard built in Mexico with cheap pickups. I think good pickups will make a world of difference. And replacement saddle set screws.

Beautiful guitar. I have the same. I just need to setup it to the 10s gauge strungs. Should i also modifie a nut for this action?

The pickups on these are surprisingly good. Everything about these guitars is surprisingly good, actually. I have one and I put locking tuners and an American Ultra string tree on it. That’s it, and that’s all I’m doing. Stellar guitar.

I've ended up returning every Player Strat I've bought (about 4 or 5 now). Really want to like 'em, but each has had issues. On my current one, the high E string keeps breaking (and it doesn't on my other Strats and guitars), plus the saddle screws are too rough (when palm muting, etc.), which makes me favor my American Strat. I could replace the saddles (or screws with smaller ones) have it set up to try to resolve the string breakage, or use higher gauge strings, but it would just be experimenting to fix something that shouldn't be happening, and it already seems well setup and otherwise plays and sounds great, but I'm returning it this week.
