@James Brown hey yo james brown hi, do these player strats use the 9v batteries or no? Ive been thinking about buying one but idk if it uses batteries lol
I have a Buttercream SSS Stratocaster and it’s the best Strat I’ve ever owned. Best guitar for your money on the market. I tried the Vintera models but I didn’t like them as much as The Player Series...
CarrotCuber ...I just like the way the Player Series plays in terms of feel and sound better than the Vintera Series. I don’t know why it’s better. But, I did speak to someone who works at Fender and he told me some interesting things about how Fender operates. He said that every 15 years or so, the American plant gets new production equipment. The old American equipment goes to Mexico and the old Mexican equipment goes to Asia. So, essentially the Player Series is the older generation American Professional guitar - built on the exact same equipment. That is why they have the two point tremolo instead of the six screw now. I would imagine the Vintera is made with the same CNC machines as the Player Series, but they just didn’t play as well in my opinion. I have owned several Strats over the years, including American, and the Player Series are amongst the best and are at a great price. The Player Series is without a doubt the best guitar on the market for the price...
@@MrBighairyass This has been my experience with the basses as well. I have an Elite jazz which is truly nice I still swapped out the pickups because the noiseless pickups weren't working for me. Then I picked up the P bass player and wow it sounds and plays great. I'm even keeping the stock pickups they sound really good. The only thing I didn't like were the tuners so I bought some hipshots. It's not as nice as the Elite but it's still stellar for the price. And I liked it better than the vintera as well. For one I'm not into vintage style frets, I prefer medium jumbo and the Vintera has a 7.25 radius which I also do not like I prefer a 9.5-11.

@@ramyhassan4393 I'd go for a normal tremolo if you can find it. After about a week I noticed mine needs a proper setup. It still plays great just a little buzzing in some spots. I doubt this is due to the tremolo and a little tweaking should fix the issue. I'd go for some locking tuners instead of a floyd rose system, unless you really want it. I tuned mine right out the box and its stayed in tune since.
After using USA Customs and cheaper Mex...in studios, not one person could tell me the difference after the recordings! The cool vintage amps and playing style made all the difference!
I mean that’s not exactly a fair test. If you plugged this and a custom shop Strat into a deluxe reverb, you’d hear a difference. Not saying one would be better but they’d sound different.
@@Ironworthstriking well you have to remember though, going through Custom Shop will get you exactly what you want, provided you can afford to pay depending on what you want them to build, but they'll do it. not everyone can afford to go that option, professionals and recording artist often go that route, but that's because they need a guitar built for whatever there music might be. but just a regular Custom that Fender did themselves, there no different than the American Ultra as far as tone. unless you buy one of those relic guitars they make based on 50's and 60's, ya those cost alot, but there gonna be more identical in sound to the 50's. other than that, there's not much of a difference between a player Series and the American Performer and Professional, although i found those Yosemite pickups to be my favorite of the 3, followed by the Pro 2 and Player in that order, other than that, the only real difference is mostly looks and whether or not you want Rosewood over Pao Ferro. the difference in woods doesn't matter much to me, i have the first gen American Professional and it has Pao Ferro, and i have no issues with it.
I have this exact guitar. From the moment it fell into my hands, I was home.. made a bigger impression on me than when I bought an American Standard back in 94 - I don't miss that guitar anymore like I did for so long.
My wife teaches music and one of her guitar students got one of these. I play a couple of really nice strats and I was really impressed with this. In fact there’s really nothing to complain about. Especially since it’s so simple to swap pickups and other parts. It could easily be turned into a monster.
That is so great to hear because I just bought a Seafoam player series strat and have been very worried about it. I tried one of the classic 70's vibe strats and it was... not good.
I have a black one with cream colored pickups and knobs. Instantly fell in love with it. I was a little worried with the neck size because I have smaller hands but it surprisingly fits really well. You really do get a bang for your buck with this series. Next thing on my list is the PRS Zach Myers SE.
Hi, what actually happened was that Fender US updated all their machines and tooling and, as was the case when Fender Mexico first got set up, the old US tooling was shipped south. The Player series is just the old 2000's US Standard specs (made on the same tooling). Luckily for us, the 2000's US Standard strats were some of the best Fender ever made. The wood grades are lower spec, not that it matters when its all coated in plastic... The satin finish on the back of the neck was one of the best things about the old US standard. 👍 I haven't had the chance to open one up yet, but the old alnico 5 plastic bobbin pickups were my favourite era by a mile, and these sound the same - so they likely are. Another reason to buy one, just top drawer value at the price point!
wozzlepop ...I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how do you know about Fender moving all the old U.S. equipment to the Mexican facility? It would make sense, because I had the Mexican Standard Stratocaster from a few years ago and it played okay, but it felt cheap. I then got a new Buttercream Stratocaster Player Series and it’s probably the best Stratocaster I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t figure out why it improved so much, but now I know why...thanks for posting...
I once had a sunburst Mexican Standard Telecaster for about 8 years until I swapped it for a Squier CV60s strat. The tones and feel (the satin finished neck) are good except for its weight and some factory defect at its highest fretboard. Never regret letting it go as I'm comfortable with the CV60s strat for 3 years until a surprise HSH player series strat came into my hands two months ago!🤗
@Mr Tech I'm from East Malaysia and even at the capital city, the costs of the older American standard and now the performer, pro and ultra series are very expensive in ringgit (between 6-8k) for us. The gap between player series and the American is covered by the MIJs so thank God, the players are really awesome to have as I love Fender guitars even from its entry level.
I own one in the limited edition Surf Pearl finish. After a pro set up from my luthier this axe is all that I hoped for and more. Beautiful to look at and you can pull just about any tone you could ever want out of this thing. If your jonesing for one just pull the damn trigger, cant see how you would regret it...

bought one of these on sale at Guitar Center for 650 USD last week. Took me about 3 hours of playing various guitars and fiddling around to find the best axe for me and it came down to a PRS SE 24 Les Paul -style and the Fender Player .. I went with the Fender because it has the go-go bar . Been playing it a lot this past week and I'm still pinching myself how good of an instrument it is for under $1000. It could sell for $1000 no problem. The guitar tech at the store said he didn't have to touch it , it came from the Fender factory with near perfect set-up. Intonation is dead on , every note rings clear. I got the HSS .. yeah I'm probably going to swap the neck position fender alnico pickup for a SD Hot Rails or maybe even a DiMarzio .. but for now it's still extremely versatile and plays very, very nearly as well as my friend's $2,500 American Fender Pro.
@@trader2137 hi Pawel, mine has the “synchronized floating bridge tremolo” which allows the raising and lowering of pitch. As long as I don’t go crazy and keep it under 1 whole note, it will stay in tune. With the floating trems you can use the bar to pull or push it back in tune, with practice. But the more you yank on the bar the more it go out of tune.. Floyd Rose double locking trems are more expensive and will prevent this but even they go out of tune if you play like Van Halen or Steve Vai. I don’t play that way but use it more subtly. Hope this helps !

Yes I bought one last year and compared it to an American strat and honestly was amazed with the quality of the player series. It has the feel and sound of my American plus the pickups actually sound better. I bought a sunburst with maple neck and it's my main guitar now. I also recently purchased another one - cherry red with rosewood neck and it also sounds and plays quite excellent.
I made a crazy Gibson Les Paul purchase last year with my Tax Refund. Crazy because I barely even play guitar, but looking to learn. Recently, I've grown a bit of an attraction to Fender Stratocasters. Might look into saving up for one if my playing improves.
I have a Player series Telecaster, having nearly dropped £1500 on an American Professional II. After playing them both I just couldn't justify the extra £1000 - it simply wasn't there. The American Professional was nicer, but to use the old cliche it wasn't £1000 nicer! I had the Player Tele professionally set up, a bone nut fitted, and it's just an outstanding guitar for the price. Maybe one day I'll upgrade the pick ups, and there really wouldn't be much point in ever getting the American Professional, apart from the psychological satisfaction.
I have one of this in egg shell white, left handed. Incredible sounding playing guitar! worth every cent. I always get asked, what amp are you using and the settings, but it's mainly this guitar that is providing it's great sound!
I've got the Yamaha pacifica 112vm and a Jackson js11, I'm thinking of part exing both and just having this one , there's the new plus version but it's 350 quid more ? Love the buttercream and black pick guard version , Mmmmmm!!
Hey Dave, thanks for watching! The Players are fantastic, we'd highly recommend trying them out. The Player Plus' that just released are a step up from the Players in that the feature set is also fairly different in terms of specs. We recently released some videos focussing on all of the differences of that range if you'd like to know more! gtrgtr.uk/PlayerPlusPlaylist
Quick question. I have a butter cream player strat. I know they come with Alnico 5 pickups. I was thinking of upgrading to the fender custom shop 54 pickups. I realized they were also alnico 5 pickups? So what’s the difference? I am a layman when it comes to these things! Any clarity is appreciated. Is it worth it? Thanks.
So, the biggest difference will be with how the pickups react and are actually EQ'd. Most people will refer to 50's style pickups as having treble in the tone and more of a "spank" to the sound. Basically, the sound of any classic Strat from any band from the late 50's!
Thanks for watching! You can check out the product page for this guitar here: www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/180430326802008--fender-player-stratocaster-buttercream-maple-fingerboard 🙌🎸
Imagine this with a nitrocellulose laquer in buttercream slightly brokenwhite/yellow primer and just a few coats carefully sprayed buttercream, a set of 64' replica pickups and no laquer on the neck. Someday I'll put it together, cant wait.
Wow playing only one pickup position the whole demo? Great idea. I might swap out the nutt with tusq and probably the tuners with locking ones. And frets with stainless steels once I've worned the nicle frets down.
It amazes me that depending on which reviewer you listen to, the Player is either nearly a match for the American, or sometimes better. Or is it inferior to even a Squier. What this is telling me is the line is probably inconsistent, and you could get a good one or a dud. So I guess the lesson is play the one you're going to buy, but that isn't really an option in the big warehouse stores, unless you buy the demo model.
@@jackr5808 it's solid! I used it in the studio this past weekend and it felt comfortable. Had the action adjusted just a tad. I was getting great sound out of it. I would recommend it. 👍
Strummed one in a guitar center about a week ago. Have to say I think it was the best Mexican made strat that I ever felt. On sale for 649 I think, it was tempting but I was in there to buy an amp. But that thing is still on mind. Black one. Owned for a while a 2014 squier CV50 tobacco burst, but that modern c-neck was just a bit too thin. This neck felt great, though it advertises also a modern C. There's no way it could be the same neck as the Squier. If the neck doesn't feel right I could care less about anything else on the instrument. The neck on the Player has to be closer to a standard C.
I bought a used 21’ sunburst player strat for $650 inperfect condition. Maybe I got lucky but the fretwork is excellent (seen some complaints about it) and the neck feels perfect. It’s a standard C neck I believe
At £519 I'd say that's a great guitar . I have heard elsewhere that those pickups are the old American Standard pickups (the ones they used before changing to Fat 50's) . Is Tidepool available with a Pau Ferro 'board?
Hey Shaun, we have a whole heap of different finishes. I've added a link for you so you can peruse at your own leisure - www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search/?Query=fender+player&searchoverride=
I have this guitar and I’m thinking about putting lace sensor pickups and a new black pick guard, should I stick with white or put a black guard on it? I don’t want To buy it and it end up ugly looking.
I have the tele player and it is equal to or superior to my us issue. While it plays like a dream and sounds crazy good, fretwork is really bad… to the point it’s eating the lower strings, can’t get through a song without something breaking. I spent 8 hours polishing, crowning and side cutting the frets, problem solved . If you do pulls and bends this probably won’t apply….
i love how every review on every guitar unless its custom shop the reviewer gonna say: its good if you on budget. lol, its FENDER stratocaster its not a squier to say that, and its NOT asian made.
@@gm836 you may be right . My strat has a locking system so I wouldn't know. My tele does not but seems to stay in tune just fine only slipping slightly after several hours of hard jamming. I feel with the tele you you don't get as many tones as with the strat. Obviously they both sound great . Tele might be heavier and not as comfortable to play. As in the feel of the body , neck is perfect. With all that said you really cant go wrong with either one. Me personally I prefer the strat. I would say all in all I play the strat slightly more than the tele. Don't let my opinion steer you away. Like I said both are great
I just got a white one at Guitar Center last night. Got it home only to realize the tremolo was not flat against the body. Nothing I did would correct it. All the strings are out of tune. The more I tune, the more the tremolo rises in the back. I tried loosening, tightening, tuning, detuning, nothing works. I’m about to take it to a luthier before I return it to GC. Any ideas?

If the guitar is so good, why is it hiding behind so much effects? Let's here the guitar clean.
Thomas Grey there is a little bit of crunch/gain, but only enough to come out when he plays hard
REVERB ʀᴇᴠᴇʀʙ ʳᵉᵛᵉʳᵇ ᵣₑᵥₑᵣᵦ
excellent videos guys: concise, funny and really helpful!
Beautiful playing.
One obvious missing upgrade that many of the competitors offer in the same relative price range are Locking Tuners...
Well I just bought this exact one!
Do you like it ?
is that guitar you play now got alnico 5 pickups?????
I'm saving to get a left handed tidepool, I've never seen anyone with the orange
I have one of this in egg shell white, left handed. Incredible sounding playing guitar! worth every cent. I always get asked, what amp are you using and the settings, but it's mainly this guitar that is providing it's great sound!
It really is a nice player. Mine just needed saddle set up, a set of 11s, and really nice sound.
I want one of these for Christmas...
i’m getting one for christmas 😭
I love the colour along with the maple!
oh my thats is a beautiful sound! what amp / effects is on that?
Is it worth getting a setup done on these starts or the factory setup is good enough?
Just ordered one for my 21st birthday😀
Congrats dude! Happy 21st when it comes!
GUITARGUITAR thank you🎉
I just bought a red and black one, and it’s my first guitar. I feel like a god
🙌 Welcome to the club! What a great guitar to start on 😃
What kind of delay was that? Nice video.
Just bought one today.
That colour.
Awesome guitar
Good choice!
i was there when this was recorded
it turned out great!
Definitely sounds really nice but.....what is he playing through?
Excellent Review 🎸🎼🎼🎼🎼🌊🏄♂️🏆🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
What is the cost of this one in euro? :) thanks for great video
Thanks for watching! You can check out the product page for this guitar here: www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/180430326802008--fender-player-stratocaster-buttercream-maple-fingerboard 🙌🎸
It's the HSH Buttercream with Pau Ferro board that does it for me.
There's a great selection and one of the best parts of working in a guitar shop is getting to see them every day!
Every player series I've played has v bad fret sprout, sharp grub screws on bridge and v flat fretboard edges. Get a squire classic vibe.
Can u tell the sticker on guitar& non sticker on guitar what the cause?
Really dig this color! But im hesitant on the maple board and I’m just now finding that it’s a 2 point Trem.
I love mine. It’s a tidepool colored one
I love watching videos of a guitar I just bought.
What effects were you running?
Imagine this with a nitrocellulose laquer in buttercream slightly brokenwhite/yellow primer and just a few coats carefully sprayed buttercream, a set of 64' replica pickups and no laquer on the neck.
Someday I'll put it together, cant wait.
Wow playing only one pickup position the whole demo? Great idea.
I might swap out the nutt with tusq and probably the tuners with locking ones.
And frets with stainless steels once I've worned the nicle frets down.
I put Fender locking tuners in, really worthwhile, if you haven't already I'd recommend it. Non vintage version slots straight in
I use 11s on my Gordy strat but it's almost impossible to get perfect intonation on the player strat the saddles don't go back far enough !
That's it... I'm on my way to pick one up.
How is it
@@jackr5808 it's solid! I used it in the studio this past weekend and it felt comfortable. Had the action adjusted just a tad. I was getting great sound out of it. I would recommend it. 👍
Anybody know what song plays in the background during the first few minutes?
That buttercream color looked good on camera.
I got to pick up one of these 👍🏼
At £519 I'd say that's a great guitar .
@@guitarguitaruk Many thanks 👌
They sure sound like the plastic bobbin a5s. Gorgeous tones.
Nicely played
I have this guitar and I’m thinking about putting lace sensor pickups and a new black pick guard, should I stick with white or put a black guard on it? I don’t want To buy it and it end up ugly looking.
Hmm... tough question. We personally like the white!
GUITARGUITAR ok thanks, maybe I’ll get white with black pickups 🤷♂️
I got the jaguar I want one of these now 😭
Dang, Joe Dirt plays amazingly!
classic
I have the tele player and it is equal to or superior to my us issue. While it plays like a dream and sounds crazy good, fretwork is really bad… to the point it’s eating the lower strings, can’t get through a song without something breaking. I spent 8 hours polishing, crowning and side cutting the frets, problem solved . If you do pulls and bends this probably won’t apply….
Certainly be nice to hear that played "clean"
Do you know if it already comes with the hole to put a humbucker in the future?
According to this in 2018, it is routed for HSH.
th-cam.com/video/i9HiWuFhkVI/w-d-xo.html
How much better are these things than the squier classic vibes? Is it worth the extra money
yes man, I owned a classic vibe 50's for 10 years and this payer series is really better !!
But what Kind of amp are you playing ? 😮
Thanks
i love how every review on every guitar unless its custom shop the reviewer gonna say: its good if you on budget. lol, its FENDER stratocaster its not a squier to say that, and its NOT asian made.
It’s like in the HIFI world, every speaker can be an entry level speaker, whether priced $100 or $10000.
And where are the changes to the switch? 🤔
Imagine that butter color strat with a black pickguard... Damn that would be a magnificent guitar
i found one i feel so blessed it looks sick!
Does it come with a harshell case if you order it online
No, not even a gig bag.
Got one in buttercream coming tomorrow! Puuumped
I wish that color would be available for leftahded models
I’m struggling to choose between a player telecaster and a player stratocaster. Help me out lol.
lol
Strat
@@brianfoster4493 the only problem I have with a strat is that apparently it doesn’t stay tuned for as long as a tele does.
Like I said both are great
@@brianfoster4493 it’s that I’ve never played both and rn during lockdown I can’t go to the store and so I’m trying to figure which one I prefer.
Any ideas?
just bought one, its a realy nice strat, great quality and super sweet tone!
Sold!!!!!!
wait....isnt that Vinnie from Wallflower?!?!?
Dude has awesome tone
