    Probably the best review I ever saw in my life. And I saw a fair amount of them...
    I really appreciate your style. So relaxed, unobtrusive, full of info and elegance. You`re not overreacting nor trashing the car. Neutral yet friendly style.
    Thumbs up for that.

    • @khaledyafai5473
      @khaledyafai5473 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prince Omares I had the diesel one , it’s a great car also you can get one very cheap as you said there value plummets so it’s smart to buy used with low mileage and good service history , I regretted buying a diesel would have preferred a petrol , but that was after i used it and found it to be a great car ..

    • @Omares112
      @Omares112 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      khaled yafai yeah I’m looking at a blue one diesel and it’s done 51,000 miles full Maserati service history and Land Rover is selling it with 6 months warranty but how does it sound? I heard if you put it in sport it has a good sound to it obviously not much than the petrol one. Plus I still wouldn’t want to spend £25k on petrol one I’m getting this one for a bargain price of £18k so what u reckon?

    • @Omares112
      @Omares112 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      khaled yafai also did u keep yours or sell it and why would u want to go for the petrol one? For the sound and acceleration? Please help man I need to buy a car in 2 days mums leaving for Canada 😂😂

    Leasing price is the same as a BMW 535d or a Range Rover Sport HSE Diesel so it will be a tough choice. I guess every passionate driver deserves at least one Maserati in his/her life, and this diesel brings it within reach. Don't you think your day simply becomes better with the prospect of this getting you to work and driving you to your dinner appointment?

    awesome review as always! Thanks Thomas. I really enjoy all of your reviews, thoughts and feedbacks. I have to agree with you on the rear part. Despite the fact that It confused me many times with KIA optima on the road. Some may argue about this, but It does not look good anyway. BTW, I almost got a ghibli because they have a really good leasing deals in the states, but I ended up getting an A6.

    I have one of these engines in my 300C, it always surprises people when I plant my foot down, they forget how torquey diesels are. It isn't a GT-R but 0-100 in 6.5 seconds in a 2 ton diesel powered car is pretty good in my book! Thinking I may need to upgrade my exhaust after hearing this.

    • @richardwarren4830
      @richardwarren4830 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The performance figure which interests me is not the 0-62.5 mph figure or the top speed. Both parameters are largely academic. The figure which matters, to me, in practice is what I call the mid range acceleration say 30 - 70 mph. Why? Because this is the factor which best reflects whether or not you can overtake safely on a tight, twisty road. I would take a guess that this car has a quicker 30 - 70 mph time than the nominally more powerful petrol equivalent. If this guess is correct, then the diesel will be a quicker car in day to day driving than the petrol version.

    • @X9Z17
      @X9Z17 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@richardwarren4830 yep; flooring it in the 300c while in traffic really sends it, same applies for my diesel Passat, very good response while at medium speeds.

    Thanks for the balanced and practical review. I admire that you acknowledge the emotional as well as the technical impact of reviewed cars. I too believe in the near perfection of German Marques and after an Alfa Romeo selespeed swore never to go Italian again. An Audi cab and two Mercedes convertibles I thought had converted me forever with their trouble free and perfect experience. Now I'm hankering for a more emotional experience and you've convinced me to try the Maserati diesel I wear of my v6 3.2 l merc convertible. Wish we could get more reliability data. As for the rear. Has no one else noticed the luscious Maserati chrome. signature???

    good review, i have one of these in beautiful blue with black 19in wheels, love it, great fun to drive, a real head turner but it is very thirsty on gas in sport. I.C.E mode is economical but boaring. getting it remapped to 335bhp cant wait for even more rear wheel burn outs.

  • @juefis
    @juefis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have to say you seem like a true gentleman. I really enjoyed your review. Very composed, calm and polite. I think the car looks amazing. Something special on the road. I quite like the design of the rear end. Overall it's something different compared to its German rivals. One question though: how was the 8 speed zf gearbox especially in automode? Was it as good as the one in the BMWs? I guess it's the same gearbox with a different(?) software. I drove the Jaguar XF (3.0 Diesel) and Jaguar also uses the 8 speed ZF gear box and I have to say it wasn't as smooth as in a BMW 5 series. It worked well but not as brilliantly as in the BMW.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      juefis Thank you very much, highly appreciated. Indeed the ZF-8-Speed is the best you can get imho (as it is also more durable than DSG, even if DSG shifts more flawlessly), and so there it was also as good as in the Jaguar XF which I owned myself for some time.

    Good review. It takes time to adjust to the feedback of a (Ferrari like) light steering with non-runflat tyres but THEN, precision with a good 50/50 balance is excellent thanks to the balanced body of a (old Mustang style) big hood/small trunk with the A pillar far behind the front wheel. The new Ghibli market success is well deserved. Philgood

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leonard onwuuemezia Hey, thanks for that! I think it sounds really great for a Diesel, due to the sound generator - both on the inside and outside. I think it is right now the best Diesel sound you can get. That happens just the sport mode though, in the normal modes the Diesel is relatively silent.

    You could only buy the diesel if you never drove the petrol...it sounds SO much better, probably the best sounding car in its class. The diesel might be competent but you can get diesel German cars with more power for less money.
    None do a petrol motor that sounds better though so I think it is the more competitive car against its rivals.

    Disagree with German "Perfectness".
    - My Uncles 3 month old, mark 7 Golf broke down twice in one week, resulting in recovery both times
    - My Aunts VW Continetal (it's not a Bentley) did over $20,000 in repairs in the first year with various problems
    - My brother's Porsche needed an engine rebuild. It has done less than 70k miles. He still won't tell me how much it cost!
    Audi, BMW and VW have been the worst and most costly car ownership experience.
    My BMW for example, with just over 40k, had suspension issues, steering rack replacement, hoses flying off everywhere. electrics were glitchy (not know a BMW without glitchy electronics) ... and gearbox grinding issues.
    My 170,000+ mile Toyota had to replace a mid-section of the exhaust (around £35) and a rear wheel bearing replacement after 167,000 miles. That's it, total! I admit it kept on eating batteries until I got an alternator upgrade, but i was running a Sundown SA-12 at the time - th-cam.com/video/l8-8JC6LeRI/w-d-xo.html
    So again, where is this German "Perfectness"?

    Maserati Diesel - a contradiction in terms - what an awful thought to put a polluting tractor engine in a beautiful car like that. Save us from yet more particulate and Nitrous Oxide pollution.

      Nigel Talbot Hm yeah, I am also not a Diesel fan. The got a good sound generator on this one though

    Hmmm. I like the brand and the design. But the diesel? I dont think so. Yes I know BMW and even Jaguar now mostly sell diesel cars. But I think Maserati is still a more exclusive brand. So buying a diesel Maserati is a bit like buying a castle and then sleep in the kitchen, so you dont need to heat up the rest of the building. If I was going to get a Ghibli, I would spend the extra bit of cash and get a petrol one. And If I really could not afford that, I would just get an ordinary BMW, Mercedes or Audi diesel. Or to put it another way: This is neither a particularly good diesel og a particularly good Maserati. So whats the point?

      Imagine you are a Business man searching for an alternative to their ordinary Audi A6 or Mercedes...You cant come up with a car that wakes up the whole neighbourhood...You also need a quiet version of the Quattroporte and the Petroleum models

      Lots of people who own castles only live in a couple of rooms to keep costs down. They still own a castle..... BTW, 'ordinary BMW, Merc, Audi'. You said it yourself.

      It's a Maserati! Wake the neighbours up, and screw them all. Who needs sleep when you have a Maser outside?
