    In reality Arthur Griffith's Sinn Fein had a very limited role in the 1916 Rising.
    The British and Irish media and establishment kept describing it as the "Sinn Fein Rebellion", probably because SF was the most publicly visible political party associated with Irish Republicanism, and the constellation of more secret organisations who actually organised and took part in the Rising wouldn't have been well-known to the British public at all.
    "The Sinn Fein Rebellion" rolls off the tongue more easily than "The Irish Volunteers/Irish Citizen Army/Cumann na mBan/Fianna Eireann/Hibernian Rifles Rebellion" 🤷🏻‍♂️
