Hi Barry, we're renting in a village in Almeria. 550 per month 3 beds 2 baths, conservatory, garage big pool, olive lemon apple and orange trees. No need to buy we're long term renters

I know the city well. In the last 7 or so years there has been an explosion of speculative airbnb investment + whole apt blocks turned into aparthotels, pretty much valueless tourism. The meeter and greeter is your cleaner & janitor, the visitors stock up at Mercadona for their stay and the locals have been evicted and the small shops, bars, bakeries are now closed. I've seen it happen in Barcelona, Lisbon & Malaga but didn't expect to see it happen in Alicante but it's happening, it's spread from downtown up into Carolinas. 🙁

I enjoy going to Alicante however it doesn’t have the same feel as Torreivija and La Mata. Overall the Costa Blanca is really special.

Baz...is there growing pressure from the locals against...ex pats etc...i I hear Tenerife is getting hostile due to arguements over water and resource over use....os it the same where you are ?
