    Back in the mid-late 1990s I had an OG Nitro Rustler with the TRX Pro .15 engine and it was so fast for its time...I'd get home from school and just run it up and down the street till dinner time. I remember upgrading the tuned pipe and tires. My dad was into cars and had a 69 GTO with a 502 Big Block in it and I thought I was just as cool...I wasn't old enough to drive so this was as close as it got for me...Great memories. Gotta get back into it. The electric cars today are crazy but not the same as the smell and sound of those nitro engines...

      You are absolutely correct! Nitro is the closet you can get to the real thing! That’s what makes it so much fun and gives you a real scale experience, the smell, the sound and the smoke coming out of the pipe! I have several electric Rc’s but nitro is a whole other animal, I’m glad I decided to explore this side of the hobby! You should definitely get back into it!

    I just got one of my rustlers back out of the basement this weekend. The 2.5 rustler is pretty darn fast for what it is. Years ago a buddy and me got into a wheelie phase and started putting 3.3s on the rustlers to see who could pull wheelies longer. Those things were like a jet with only the rear tires on the ground. I put a .26 dynamite on one of my Jatos and started blowing the trans up. That thing would pull wheeleis at 30mph on the 1 -2 switch haha. Everything was put on hold as I had kids. My kids are now 4 and 6 and my 6 YO is finally getting his time on Nitro cars and doing quite well. I'll be getting back into it now with the boys getting older! Good times!

      That would be a good mash up, just for kicks but a legit race, it wouldn’t be fair, the slash would destroy the rustler, that 3.3 engine in the slash ain’t no joke! When they say 50mph plus out of the box, they mean it lol, keeping in mind your running them both stock👍

      @rcreviews9894  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rustler was my first nitro and I have more recently picked up a nitro slash, it’s here on the channel! Both Rc’s are pretty fast out of the box especially after break in and the tuning process, I would have to say that the rustler is a very good beginner nitro, I’ve had a lot of fun running it! The slash, man the slash is a beast! It’s really fast out of the box, faster than the rustler, with a bigger engine, bigger fuel tank and better overall handling characteristics, my only complaint and it happens with all short course trucks, is that the body catches wind and sometimes results in a flip on the lid crash, other than that it’s awesome👍

    Brand new to nitro RC what do I need to know what fuel percent should I use and how should I tune it

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well in the case of the nitro Rustler here, I run 20% nitro fuel, tuning shouldn’t be done until after the initial break in is complete, tuning kinda depends on a few factors and the same could be said about any nitro Rc, outside temperatures, humidity and altitude in your region all play a role on how you should tune your Rc, so the way I tune my Rc may be different than the way you should tune yours, a general rule of thumb is, it is better to run slightly rich than it is too run too lean, you can always adjust as needed to lean out the engine to peak performance but it is bad for the engine to run it too lean, running too lean can overheat your engine, also start your tuning with the high speed needle first and work your way down as needed, high speed needle, low speed needle and the rpm’s but you won’t really adjust that last one too much, it’s mainly high and low needles you adjust the most, in the case of the rustler, I’ve only had to really adjust the high speed needle, it’s set pretty good out of the box, it sounds like a lot but it’s really not, just read your instructions that come with the kit and you will do fine, hopefully this helps, hit me up if you have any more questions, thanks for watching 🤙
