Secondly, there are additional charges such as handling fees and bad weather charges that are unnecessary. Thirdly, Zomato charges new restaurant owners to promote their restaurant on the app.
And the commission percentage is 24% goes even to 27% for new restaurant, plus gst on commission plus tds tcs, plus advertising cost, not just from new restaurant. They wont show you if you dont advertise, plus platform fee plus delivery charges, plus zomato hyperpure.

Bro, it’s not all. It is EBIT. How can you ignore taxes. Zomato is a volume business and in many cases they won’t be making any money. So calling 1-2 rupee gain on delivery “profit” is an incomplete story. The founder of zomato only mentioned About the fixed costs, what about the money they need for expansion and capex.
Zomato has been EBITDA profitable for a while now. They became net profitable last quarter, that's what these guys are talking about. Making 0.2 rupees per order in net profit is also profitable. This is after all taxes and CAPEX and salaries.
Zomato is relevant and important as long as people are willing to pay for the food which is delivered direct to their homes from anywhere in the city at any time.
Simple answer: If you go to the restaurant you get a xyz food for 100 bucks and that same food is listed on zomato for 200 bucks. Plus Delivery Charges plus Surge charge / Rain Charge.

I have given them many times my feedback but no use. Even for orders within 1-2km they are charging delivery charges of Rs.40-80/-. Also some 2-3 rupees are also charged automatically which you can't remove for noreason apart from delivery and gst charges.

Had the misfortune of ordering from Zomato. The restaurant didn't deliver on time. We ordered around 5:40 and was supposed to receive the order in half an hour. But the restaurant had no intention of giving me the order on time. I had to get the order and leave for train station. I was getting delayed. I reported to Zomato but got only automated messages regarding the delay. I wanted to cancel my order and no executive was giving any support. I asked the delivery guy to deliver at train station but he too denied. And after all this chaos now am being charged with the full penalty and Zomato is denying me a complete refund. The lapse was totally with the incompetent restaurant and Zomato. And we are the ones being penalised. This is clearly incompetent and highly disappointing. What a bully you guys are turning out to be.

I'm working in Zomato as Delivery partner. Let me tell this company make fool to customers and their riders. When you place an order from 1 km it shows the delivery partner fee Rs. 45 but delivery partner actually earning for 1km is around Rs. 25. This is how the company make gumrah to its customers and Adds unnecessary charges for the food.

Zomato doesn't charge, Zomato's commissions are fixed, restaurants increase the listed price on the menu to offset the commissions they need to pay.

Restaurants zomato pr high rates rakhte hai as compared to their actual price so next time order from zomato only if you can't go n get it
