I am in general kinda lukewarm on this whole romance options thing. I played Golden Dear route and I was planing on going fore Rhea. I grew to like her a decent amount through out my playthrough. But she was not in the options liest. I am not even sure if she died at the end ore not. So I went with Sothis. During the final battle I thought "meybe I should have gone with Shamir instead" and then I got to this scene and I was quite happy with my choice. Sothis is fun to have around. And Shamir is better of with Catherine. Fore the rest of team I did not made ships. I took the chips as they fell. I got a lot of platonic endings. But I liked all of them.

This is actually my prefered ending for Byleth on the Verdant Wind route, as it's by far the route where Sothis gets the most focus, and it seems like such a waste that she just disappears for the second half of the story with no closure whatsoever (though I do wish the Support was platonic rather than romantic). It helps that unlike Dimitri and Edelgard, where I almost felt I _had_ to romance them for the story to make any sense, Claude never seemed that into Byleth, so I never felt forced to romance him.
Honestly, Edelgard's situration is just downright simping to the point of being stupid.
I always cuck Edelgard because it's funny.

First Chrom marries the vassal of the ancient dragon who also kills him after beating up his father in law, then Corrin marries his sibling who may or may not be blood related, now Byleth marries his own great grandmother which makes him being both Rhea's parent, at this point while also being her grandmother and daughter.

Can we talk about how heartbreaking this ending really is? Right after Rhea dies, her mother appears one final time to Byleth... her vessel. She tried her entire life to just get to see her mother one last time, and then when she reappeared she barely got to spend any time with her before she just vanished again. Poor fuckin Rhea :(
