He is a great king as he has taken Dubai from strength to strength. He was able to do this because of his power, wealth and vision. Well educated and smart but rooted in patriarchal system of thinking. He did give a long rope of freedom to Princess Haya though.
She is a very elegant, Graceful and intelligent individual with a brain of her own. So independant and intelligent that the century old patriarchal rules did not go well with her and she wanted to break free from them.
I think they did love each other but it wasn't enough to keep them together.
