Awesome video, and well said throughout! Thank you for sharing, looking for an intro-watch and could well be my first and last! You're a legend for this, subtle lessons in life too!
This watch is somehow a reissue of a vintage Tissot model. I know people like to associate it with the AP but it has some character!! Thank you for the video.
The PRX looks nice! I'm wearing my 2003 Seiko kinetic right now, one of my very first watches. Super acurate and afordable. I also own luxury pieces but sometimes it's nice to wear a dependable watch and just be carefree about it. It's good to have a mix of both affordable and luxury pieces, as there's a different kind of satisfaction from wearing them.
I bought a blue dial Easter 2022 and have only one complaint. Clasp ought to have been lockable since Ive dropped it a few times in the garden. I wear it 24/7 and have only wound it once upon delivery. Its been in the northsea a few times too with no trouble.
I love your perspective about the watch... No BS and pure joy and practical review. I've been eyeing this watch to be my 1st automatic swiss made watch and to celebrate my job promotion. The only thing that holds me back is what the other reviewers say about its movement that it's plastic.
I appreciate that! New Mercedes and BMWs have more plastic in them than the PRX does. I suspect the PRX will be as reliable and serviceable as any other mainstream watch.
My new favorite watch is the King Seiko SJE089. It's so beautiful. I just can't take it off my wrist. Everyone who sees the watch is amazed by it. I think Seiko made the perfect dress watch. Looks both vintage and modern. Best of both worlds.
Yeah, I really like it too. That plays at a much different price point than this. It reminds me of my old SARB035 that I loved until the day it died...
What's great about this transparency is that you've witness and own far more luxurious watches, YET you know what it is to buy what you like. At the end of the day, a watch that cost way less can be just as awesome to wear as a very expensive one!
I own this watch. What I like about it is that the dial is very easy to read. There's plenty of contrast between the hands, markers and waffle dial. I'm also a fan of the 1970s style integrated bracelet. It's a little large for my 6 1/4 inch wrists. I understand they have a 38 mm version. I might be interested in trading my 40 for a 38.
I just ordered the prx powermatic 80 in ice blue dial and so excited m, waiting! And also got one prx quartz version white and white rubber strap, waiting! I gave myself a gift, my first swiss watch is a Tissot ❤
As far as manual winds, I obtained one from an online retailer at a steal that is supper satisfying: Orient Bambino 4 with a champagne dial and art deco sub dial. So mid century chic. I just need to grab a tan suede leather strap. You’re so right about cost not equaling value or worth. My Tissot Seastar from ~17 yrs ago has more prescience than my old Omega, which looked very dated from that same era.
I think that you’re right. The only thing that I don’t like about this Tissot, is the puffy dial but it’s just a question of taste. Many thanks for another great video.
I've been downsizing quite a bit, it's rare that I have all of my watches with me outside of a safe so if that makes sense at some point, I'll see what I can do. ; )
Since I know you read the comments I want to know your opinion on a watch I kinda made up my mind on, the Rado Integral, because it is different, yes, a quartz, but it has an art deco look, it's something else. What do you think?
To be honest... I'm not a fan of it. Design aside the build quality seems to be on par or worse than a $200 Tissot. It's not a watch I would plan on keeping for decades, it has a cheap bracelet on it and the resale is terrible. If you want one badly I'd buy used for well under $1000.
I have a Tissot Le Locle Small Seconds powermatic 80 in a custom alligator strap that I got for a stupidly good deal. I mean it when I say I’ve gotten more compliments on that watch compared to my Rolex Datejust II and Day-Date 18038. It’s also a lot of fun to wear.
I think that's also a fine watch. For some reason the PRX style appeals to me more but to your point, they are quite similar. The big difference for me is the movement, the PRX has nearly double the power reserve and I would say is a slightly better movement overall. That said I've seen the Citizen go for cheaper than the PRX so you can save some money.
@@JANTHONYCHANNELI was on the fence about which to buy. I didn’t consider the time reserve and didn’t know enough about movements to know which is better. Thank you for the help! I’m going with the PRX. On a side note, what do you think about Jomashop? I’m thinking about getting the PRX from there.
Ap and Patek have anglage, perlage & beveling on their movement. Things only watch geeks can spot. To the everyday guy yes Tissot will be very similar to the AP.
I love the prx, however looks aside it wears even better on the official rubber strap. It is however currently the most faked watch currently available on the bay of e. A lot of sellers give b s stories about being imported watches, however most don’t have the correct movement (a regulator can be seen in the movement) wrong boxes and non legit warranty cards. I actually wonder how many people thought they were getting a deal but ended up with a fake. I’m looking forward to the carbon one.
Nothing wrong with it. The price is a little high (based upon current economic conditions where the common man is getting his arse crushed). I know a few gents who have purchased these and they do tend to like them a great deal. I am considering one. Still unsure since my quartz Omega Pre-Bond has wrist-time about 5 days out of 7. Quartz = 2 to 3 year power reserve. ;-)
Indeed, can't compete with the power reserve or accuracy of a quartz watch. That said, you also can't compete with the open case back of a mechanical watch where you can be hypnotized by the movement of the balance wheel : )
For me the problem is the size of the winder crown is too small. This Tissot has the same size as my Tudor royal, it’s hard to grip and difficult to screw down. Don’t have that problem with the Rolex
If it’s such a great watch that stands on its own merit then why does giving it value in your argument hinge on how cheap it is compared to a Royal Oak?
That's a sound argument, you're right. I do think it can stand on its own merit, I made the obvious and easy comparison. At it's price point, there is little I think is a better value.
I don't get this pointless commentary on why X is just as good as Y even though Y is 10 times more valuable. As someone who started off as a high school student with a G-Shock and later a Seiko which I sure loved, saying things like a Tissot can be more valuable than a Rolex because it's all subjective is foolish. Look, I am around 30 now, got a mortgage, a fianceè and two kids. However I am financially literate, I got a vast investment portfolio, and I don't act on emotion or create some illusion that a liability is worth buying, unless it's a gift. I like the Tissot PRX Powermatic. But most entry level watch brands, Tissot included, are liabilities, and have a low resale rate despite not depreciating a lot. I recently was able to comfortably afford a Daydate without having to go into debt, of course it was a no-brainer. Holds value and even goes up with time and good care. I don't subscribe to justifications like "it works and looks as good as a Rolex so it's just as valuable" is maybe what you think but it's merely a fantasy, and behaviour determined by fantastical views in the real world as an adult is like living in a bubble that will eventually pop. These are things that most realize while growing up.
Im not looking at the prx because I can’t afford a royal oak, I’m looking at it cause it don’t want to spend several thousand on a Rolex oyster quartz, and a couple thousand more when I have to send it back to Rolex for a movement overhaul.
@@JANTHONYCHANNEL I don’t think so, many people compare it to the royal oak. Me personally, I think it oozes oysterquartz, which I can say is one of my all time favorite watches
@@takethecurseOFFwashingmachine Honestly same, love the Oysterquartz look, just wish it was mechanical and that the bracelet could be easily swapped with a strap.
I absolutely love this watch but here in mexico believe or not, will cause too much attention in most places that you wouldn't want it to... you would just be a target to get robbed, in contrast in the US whenever i travel there it doesn't matter what you have on your wrist you're, at least me, sort of a ghost to other people, not a single person will start a conversation with you over a PRX and you wouldn't get robbed either.
Nice vid. Enjoying the new content, and the appearances on the Pontiff's channel. thanks for having his back 👍

38 seems to work well for any wrist size, which dial color did you go for?
Totally agree. Thanks for speaking some clarity into the PRX buzz.

I have owned two in the past. Great watch with no issues. They just released a carbon fiber one. I may pick that one up.

Congratulations!!! The Ice Blue dial wasn't out when I got mine, I want one in that color now as well!
This one really is the one stop seiko killer. Affordable, steel sports, dressy, clear back, genta design cues... it's a no brainer.
$ for $ I agree this is a better watch than the equivalent Seiko. Ideally you own one of each haha

Tissot is a one-trick pony. I wish they were more.
What would you like to see? I like their Seastar range as well.
Gentleman, Le Locle, Heritage 1938, and Telemeter 1938 are pretty nice looking watches from Tissot imo.
They have a COSC certfied movement for well under 1000 USD. They should be leveraging that.
