Pebeo also makes porcelaine paint markers, which are easy to use for this project as well.
Materials:
• Pebeo porcelaine paint
• Mug (porcelaine or ceramic)
• Painter's tape
• String
• Q-tip (or paper towel)
Tools:
• Paint brush
• Small disposable bowl/plate (or one you don't care about)

• Stencil and sponge

I appreciate that she took the time to tell us about the paint ☺️☺️
Great tutorial. After watching about half a dozen others I finally found someone who makes sense and doesn't ramble on about meaningless nonsense. Thank you.
I hear ya ;) I ramble in some but for the most part I want to keep it simple!

Made my first mugs after watching your tutorial. Used stencils and freehand painting. I use mine all the time. Love it,and you are great!
James Dakis Nice! I still use the ones from this video :) Even after multiple washes, the paint still holds up!
James Dakis
THIS!
Thanks for taking the time to check them out :D I try to make them clear for everyone to understand so it's nice to read they come across as such!
Finally a clear and useful tutorial with out a 20 min intro. Am now hooked x
I've been trying to do some research to figure out which brand of paint would be best used for surfaces that come in contact with food. After checking Pebeo Porcelain 150's product usage information it said "Only surfaces which do not come in contact with food should be decorated." It can still of course be used outside surfaces as this video shows, I just wanted people to be aware that it should not be used in cups, on plates, etc.
I did, but it was the first one I made. I know it will get better!
Thank you for your response. I enjoy seeing someone like you, enjoying the gifts they have and sharing them with all. Have an awesome day!!!
Thank you! I am starting this process and you have answered my questions as needed! I will let you know how it turns out.
Thank you so much, Sea. That was a great help. Especially the AP mark for food grade paint.
I just wanted to say that I appreciate that you sub your videos and that you post a clear list of necessary items. I find it is sometimes hard to understand what people are saying and many times people are unclear about what they are using. I've been checking out your videos and you have a lot of great ideas.
Thank you for your time!
Been searching for a while for food safe ceramic paint and got so confused! Thanks for sharing this - your designs are very pretty - especially love the stencil ombre effect one!
Might have to try this. I like the string idea for the first one since I think the "unperfect" lines look great.

Could I use a rubber stamp to apply the paint? Would I need a second coat?
I agree with Jolicosmonaute!
Hiya :) love the video tutorial :) I've been doing this for a while now. I was wondering though, do you know how to finish it off with some sort of a shiny coating? just to give it a professional look even if I paint the mugs at home?
With the Pebeo paint, you don't have to finish it with a coating. After it bakes on, it's pretty durable. The mugs I made in this video are still holding up after many microwaves and dishwashes, three years later! :)
Yeah I know, I have had mine too for almost the same time. I just want them to look shiny, you know? any ideas?

Acrylic paint won't last as long. It will eventually scratch and rub off.

I have a quick question, I want to do this DIY and I have before but only with sharpies. My question is, can I use craft smart acrylic paint on these and bake it as well?
Rayla3271 the acrylics wont stick to the mug and will wash off, maybe outdoor mod podge however I wouldn’t put it where you would drink out of
Thanks for sharing, How long should I wait between each coat ? how to know the first coat dried?? without ruined it?
no Where I would check your paint label, it might vary depending on what you use.
The brand name is marabu. But no information about that.
no Where I bought the Marabu and it has 6 paints and a brush - around $10 and is supposed to be safe it was recommended
