    The mitochondria is the powerhou... I meant bacteria of the cell

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      A theory says that mitochondria was a one-cell organism in the past. Bacteria have adopted mitochondria into itself to "eat", but they "agree" to live together :). A win-win situation.

    • @deym0s702
      @deym0s702 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @ Mitochondria was an prokaryotic bacteria, and a proto-eukaryotic cell adoptet it for endosimbiosis.

    • @cameronbayer1759
      @cameronbayer1759 5 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yeah, there is a lot of evidence for the event called 'endosymbiosis', both for mitochondria and also chloroplasts in some autotrophs. All Mitochondria actually has its own DNA (known as mitochondrialDNA). Most of there DNA has been transferred to the nucleus but some remains in the mitochondria. Also the fact that the mitochondria has 2 membranes, giving credence to the idea that it was engulfed by the cell, the inner membrane is from the original bacteria and the out membrane from the process of endocytosis that was formed when ingested.

      The radius of atoms changes when they're bound in molecules. A hydrogen atom that bonds with oxygen gains a partial positive charge because its electron cloud shifts over towards the oxygen, which results in the hydrogen's electron cloud shrinking in size. A hydrogen atom that bonds with carbon maintains a more neutral charge and therefore its electron cloud remains larger.

    I have tried nearly every permutation in Google searches and was still unable to find a reliable source for the size on an X chromosome. What are the sources you used for this video?

    2:53 Bakers yeast 3 μm * 4 μm C(19)H(14)O(2)
    1:01 Hemoglobin 6.5 nm * 6.5 nm (1000 times smaller radius) C(2932)H(4724)N(828)O(840)S(8)Fe(4)
    How is something so much smaller so much more complicated?
    What is in the yeast besides this simple formula?
    This is confusing.

    What about the ostrich egg? And slime molds? And what about mycellia, which are technically multiple cells that share membranes, but depending on your definition could be counted as a single cell?

    I am still confused on as to how they were able to identify these small particles. Microscopes can only zoom in to a certain and limited extent and these were discovered before the microscopes were invented, am i not right?
