    The most fascinating thing about your videos is that as natives we don't really know how to appreciate these things foreigners, tourists and backpackers show. We just take it all for granted.

      Tyrone Kingston Thanks, that is so true. Sometimes you need an outsider's perspective to appreciate what you have back home.

    One of my favourite places in Hesinki was Ravintola Kantis on Ruoholahdenkatu, an small old fashioned restaurant / bar where the beer was cheap and they played old Finnish folk songs, just down the road was a proper Turkish kabab house and then on to my girlfriends appartment - very happy days.

    Great video! I'm from finland and you managed to show the best places to really represent finland! Thank you for that! If you really want to experience something unique you should visit finland in the winter, for example lapland has the most beautiful scenery during winter with reindeer and nordic lights. Im sure you would appreciate it.

    I'm traveling to Helsinki in August 2017 on my own and came across your video while searching for things to do in Helsinki. The bike ride and kayaking look like a perfect way to explore the city and see the great outdoors of Finland too. Hopefully I can sign up with a group and go while I''m there. I have friends who live there that I'll be seeing for the majority of the trip and can't wait to experience a taste of Finnish lifestyle.

    Hey there :-) Just discovered you guys while looking for vids on Salmiakki (my guilty pleasure). I have family in Helsinki so I visit frequently. I love love love these videos! If you have a chance, you should visit in winter as well. When it's 20-30 below zero, a Salmiakki vodka is one of the best things to warm up. In the morning, a cofee at Cafe Regatta on the water will warm you up. Also, you need to try the fast food at a Helsinki 'Grilli', one of the late night hamburger stands you'll find throughout the city. There is also a very active live music scene. One of the best shows I ever attended was the Von Hertzen Brothers who traditionally play on New Year's Eve at the Virgin Oil Club. Last but not least, the Academic bookstore opposite Stockmann is quite an amazing place. Keep up the awesome vids!!

    • @SaunaFinland
      @SaunaFinland 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Samuel & Audrey Of course you can take a look around in winter time, but the weather can be pretty bad and depressing. If it's a good winter and cold enough it can be okay, but I suggest you head north to really enjoy the Finnish winter. Although Helsinki is much more north than most Canadian cities, the climate is a bit warmer, I think. But up north you can see some amazing landscapes if you travel around on skis, snowmobile or whatever you prefer. There's a lot of activities you can try out, and there's nothing like a good warm sauna after a cold winter's day.
      Best winter months are late January or February. December is just dark dark dark and not as cold with a lot of rain instead of snow. Obviously, hard to predict next year's weather, but that's how it usually goes. Some winters are better than others. As Finland is not as commercially obsessed with Christmas as North Americans are, the decorations won't probably be as excessive, although it is one of the most important holidays. People just do their own thing. And go to the sauna, of course. In Rovaniemi, there's a Santa's Village, however, which should be open at least all winter.

    Dear viewers, espcially those who will travel in low budget. Ive been to Helsinki, and if you do everything they are doing in the video, youd have to use more than 100 euros a day. So... skandinavia. Everything too expensive. (+ sleeping, + transportation = approx. 130 a day in average)

    • @samuelandaudrey
      @samuelandaudrey  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, it is not cheap to travel in Finland but I think it is still a rewarding experience.

    • @Marisolita_95
      @Marisolita_95 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not quite true. I'm from Helsinki, and for example, the public transportation is relatively cheap. And today, long-distance trains are inexpensive, eg. Helsinki - Tampere 15-18 €. You can stay at the hostel, they have offers like 20 to 50 € a night and they are nice and clean. All you need to do is some research in advance and you'll be fine. Housing prices are crazy here though...our apartment, 3 rooms and kitchen + bathroom with a sauna is worth 800K and we're living in Ruoholahti. Anyway, I love this city, it's an ultra modern city but still we have our historic center plus sea and nature nearby. It's wonderful 😊

    hey guys... am planning to spend 1 day in Helsinki before connecting my flight to Budapest and continue my winter vacation or after Buda and on my way back to Singapore. What do you recommend to do and see?

      I'd suggest focusing in the downtown area where you can visit most of the main attractions on foot which are not too far from each other.

    there is a reason why Helsinki cathedral is not elaborately decorated as most of the other European churches... its because it belongs to other religion branch. Finland is not roman catholic (very decorative churches), but evangelists (plain and simple)

    Why do you need free advertising at gofinland.info/?
    The answer is really simple- there is no such thing as too much advertising.
    We invest considerable amounts of money and time to make your ad visible to search engines and, ultimately, to be found by customers.
    Please, make sure you name your ad the way it reflects the nature of the business and location. Example: James’s Cafe and Bakery in Brighton. Or, best restaurant in Helsinki.

    (I have N1c DNA like 60% of Finland) It is my theological achievement and I am after that on history books pages (you can help me in this case) it is the theological achievement I have:
    Poles (the stupid one) are the Aryans it is knowledge coming from the Bible, genetics and history. I am first to prove the thesis with the use of the Bible:
    There are different names for Calvinist. Pentecostals, Evangelicals, Snake holders (handlers) ´´Snakers´´ are elite Calvinists (when it comes to the rule ´´only the faith´´). Do not think about some modern liberal Calvinist who do not follow the Bible but ancient one. Name Calvin is proper for names I have mentioned (and the rule only the faith)
    Calvin : - only the faith !!! How should we understand the major difference between Lutheranism and Calvinism! It is not stupid understanding of only faith which stance can be described by ´´oh yes I believe and it is enough to go to heaven! It is good but I do not want to understand everything in the Bible because it is easier path to heaven´´ True ancient Calvin was reading the Bible and trying to interpret it the most true way (not the easiest one) and then the rule ´´Only the faith´´ which comes from the Bible is true one. Luther’s understanding was close to the issue and easier to understand for people not so deep in the faith. I believe his intentions were honest but Calvin was more precise and proper. But the faith is not the stupid sentence ´´ Oh I believe! (and avoid the true faith coming from the Bible)´´´
    The other issue (the reason why I have made the share!!!) is that Luther was close but not right when he picked up not proper one nation to annihilate!!!
    He said ´´Sorben Must Storben !´´ ´´Sorbs must die!´´
    He was close !
    I (Lukasz Sadowski!) have theological achievement !!! Aryans are the Poles ! The stupid one (mentioned in the bible!) Aryan means the chosen by the God. Jews are not the first on Gods list! It is the Poles! The stupid one! Japanese and American stereotypes prove the thesis. It is mentioned in the Bible that Aryans are stupid! It is Polacks! It is not so good to be first on the Gods list of chosen one! Jews end up bad (7000 in heaven after ages of existence) rest for Balaam (Talmud!) and sins in hell ! (Letter to Romans)
    But Poles are first on the list (the Stupid one!) (read the Bible!)
    What is more God is serious what can be proven after old testament lecture, he is not easy going God! We should read new testament first but lecture of old Testament can be useful from time to time. But remember new testament first!
    Being Aryan is not the good issue the Jews know that (Letter to Romans!) Poles are not in good situation for being Aryan!
    So once again Luther with ´´Sorben must Storben!´´ was close but I say Aryans are the Polacks (Poles) and annihilation of the enemy nations (paragraph) is always over their heads! (read last chapter of New Testament!)
    I am so glad to have scientific (theological) achievement on field in which I am surprised to have! I have been reading the Bible with no new theological achievement score at the and !!! And I have the one!!! Calvin’s were right it is nothing new!!! But I know that the Aryans are the Poles and it is not good to be chosen by the God! Jews know it but they are second on Gods list! Last chapter with annihilation of enemy nations is different story but Poles should know they are Aryan!!! And it is not so good to be the one!!!
    And the reason for being tried to annihilate Poles have in their head! They are the stupid one! What is said in the Bible about Aryans! I have never thought that I will be theologist who found new fact from the Bible like Calvin! not only the interpreter who is reading the Bible for other reasons than this achievement!
    Why I am in history books (Lukasz Sadowski (Lukas von Sadow))
    The research and serious analysis with Calvin and Luther is in previous post here is easy going aftermath:
    There were long researches concerning Aryans and it is the Poles. Last one during second world war telling that Aryans may be Germans, Slavs, Sorbs, people in Asia not separate the Poles ... but the Bible says it is the nation. Yes it is connected to R1a but it is the nation ... there was Aryan side of Warsaw but Germans were also called Aryans as the other people not only from Poland. And it is the Poles (Polacks the stupid one)!!! Other details below and it is also (mainly) Biblical (theological research). NATION! it is not so good to be this nation (also in Gods eyes)!!!
    Aryans and the Bible. As we know term Aryan means noble or chosen by God. It is ancient term, used through ages, also by Nazis who believed Aryans to be Nordic people. The dispute about who the Aryans are is long but for sure they are not the Jews. Some people claim Aryans to be Northern nations, some people claim them to be people associated with R1a Y DNA. It is old and interesting debate about who is true chosen nation (Nazis were sending scientists into Himalayas to look for origin of Aryan race) but what is worth mention: God has also the chosen nation among Gentiles. And if you read bible well it is not so good to be the chosen one. So Jews and Poles are not in good position.
    Matthew 21 (42,43)
    42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'the stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone; this came about from the lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes '?
    43 "Therefore * I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it.
    So again, kingdom of God is being taken away from Jews …
    And here we have it:
    Acts 15 (14,18)
    14 "Simeon has related how God first concerned Himself about TAKING FROM AMONG THE GENTILES A PEOPLE FOR HIS NAME..
    15 "With this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written,
    16 'after these things i will return, and i will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen, and i will rebuild its ruins, and i will restore it,
    17 so that the rest of mankind may seek the lord, and all the gentiles who are called by my name,'
    18 says the lord, who makes these things known from long ago.
    Aryans are Gentiles called by Gods name (chosen by God) …. But there is world ´´and´´ so other Gentiles are also welcomed (what is being said in many other parts of the Bible). But what is the most important God has his favourite Gentiles (non Jews) and it can be Aryans. So again Northern R1a are in the most interesting position … but it is less important … For me the most interesting fact is that God picks up all gentiles and has one among them to be the favourite one … the Poles, the stupid one (read the bible properly) the stupid one. And what is worth mention people from all nations go to heaven.
    Lukasz Sadowski (I have N1c DNA like 60% of Finland’s population)
    You can find my fb with the use of: sadowski126@gmail.com
    It is normal for some nations to steal our achievements but it is mine and I am part of your civilisation. Please help me in this case.
